Personally i like to train with rather low number of sets, 8-10 for large muscle groups, 6-8 for small muscle groups. This enable me to keep the workout duration within 45 min. However from what i've read from this board, people like to train with high number of sets, for example, 12 sets or more for chest.

My question is should i increase no. of set? i like to avoid overtraining but it seem like my working sets are too low and perhaps i've not worked hard enough. Any ideas?

My normal chest routine is:
2 sets of flat bench press
1 set of flat DB press
1 set of flat flys
2 sets of inclined bench press
1 set of inclined DB press
1 set of inclined flys

for bench press, i keep the weight heavy with at most 6 reps/ set, for flys i do with lighter weight for about 8- 10 reps.

Ask yourself these questions as to if your doing enough....

1. Do you feel sore the next day or second day after you train.
2. Is your strength increasing.
3. Do you acheive a pump with that amount of sets...

If your answer is yes your doing enough TRUST ME!!!! just keep the nutrition on track and you will get hugeeeee

I do 9 sets large bp's and 6 sets small bp's and I train 3 days a week and hit each muscle once in a week.... this is all I need and I have 18+ inch arms this also suits me well because I work 10-12 hour days 5-6 days a week in a fabricating steel machine shop and its all I could do beacause with my job doing anymore I'd surely overtrain...
