dude i was just checkin out some of ur old videos over my friend Painthrillers aka ants house and **** and like dude whats up with ur form. like with ur 440x2 dead and ****. how can anyone even consider that a second rep. ur feet moved off the ground and **** and u hitched the **** outa it. u struggled with the first one bad enough and then the second one shouldnt even be counted as a rep. and then ur dips with 115. dude u didnt even dip all the way what the hell man. all im sayin is ur form on things is a little sketchy. same with ur chin ups. ur first one u had to jump up to come up all the way and all the rest after that ur chin didnt even come close to the bar. seriously though like people said before u do gota work on ur form on things. bad form is how people get serioulsy hurt. i know im not the best at things but i do take peoples advice and when they give me some pointers. its not about bashing ur manly ego its about listening to what other people have to say and accepting it as their comment or opinion or suggestion. but yeah thats it i guess.


I dont even know why you bothered talking sense to this guy, its not gonna work man ahhahahahaha. Jake makes alot of good points, DW, seriously, for the love of all that is holy, why dont you just, LOWER THE ****ING WEIGHT AND WORK ON FORM?!?!?!?!?!? I mean jesus christ, none of us would be making fun of you if you took the advice, lowered the ego trip, and just did it. If someone told me, who knew that they were talking about, to lower the weight, and work on my bench form, i would do it, no question about it. I mean ****, you used "strongman" as your excuse for your deadlift form, and then an ACTUAL STRONGMAN COMPETTITIOR from FI even told you, that your form was hideous and should never be done, and of course, he was wrong to. On that 445, i didnt see any improvement at all. Sure, you didnt drag it up your theighs as much but you still hitched the **** out of it. It looked like Bubba was ****ing you up the ass and you were getting pushed forward. I know like all the other posts, im gonna be wrong, and ur gonna say **** off, but who cares, this should be stressed to you until you get it.

I will also bet he can do sets of 12-15 with all of your max lifts, with good form. Way to evade my post to, just like the way you evaded my challenge for you to come to the classic and throwdown. Well i "respectfully" help people here all the time, and i respectfully take advice from people when its given to me. I dont shut them out like this punk does and try to make it look like the world is against me, this guy has an ego a size this world cant even handle. Im also, far from jealous of this guy, far from it. There is nothing of me to jealous of when it comes to him. Im more amazed and annoyed by his pure idiocy, and by the fact that people that stupid, even exist. If he cleaned up his form, and then went heavy, and dropped his hot **** attitude, im sure all this **** would stop, but he blatantly refuses to do this, why? Because it might shatter whatever bit of self worth he might have, and his huge ego would go limp. Again, not jealous, more like purely amazed and annoyed is more like it. I actually think he does all this **** on purpose just to get noticed.

We all say this, because we actualy want to help this dude. Thats what these forums are for, exchanging information and learning from people at much higher levels THAN YOU. I got help from some of the greatest and smartest lifters today, and look at how im doing? Yeah i take the credit for doing the work, but the smarts i didnt learn myself, its all from people who are at a level i aspire to be at, or higher. Why is he posting on a message board at all if hes not even going to listen to what people have to say? All he wants to do, is post videos and get praised. He fails to realise, that with the way he lifts, thats not gonna happen. Also, i know im nothing special. I consider myself to be doing very well at my age, but of course, i know there is an even bigger freak training in a basement/gym somewhere. If i were to come across someone like this, id pick their brain and learn as much as possible, not shut them out. This guy is 22, and he acts like hes 10 years old. It boggles my mind.

I can sympathize with the people in this thread giving DW form advice, but bashing him is out of line. Please guys, grow up and let us keep this a respectful board. We're supposed to be rooting eachother on, not saying "Owned" and "i could snap your ass." Diesel, it would be wise not to respond to people's posts who insult you, it only leads to more problems. If you must bash eachother, take it to AIM.

The reason people post here with feedback is because they don't want to see you get injured. I've watched a lot of your vids and you will get injured in the future, it's only a matter of time. If you would listen to people's advice instead of only looking for pats on the back for your quasi-lifts you'd be much better off in the future. I'm sure this post will be dismissed just like the countless others because I'm not patting you on the back. As many lifters have said, leave your ego at the door when you step into the gym.

He does look like he's setting up properly, but as soon as he starts the lift, his hips fly up, his back rounds, and then the hitching starts.

His latest conventional deadlift video was not bad Danimal. There is clearly improvement. It's the Zerchers where he needs to keep his hips down. Im not going to say anything about the hitching......I hitch too :D

i saw someone doing deaselweasel style deads in the school weight room yesterday, they did 335X2. If I wasn't so conservative about form I could have the best dedlift in the weight room :(

No, it wasn't bad, it was horrible. The only time his form was good was when he set up for the lift. As soon as he started, his form went out the window. If you think that was good form you should examine your own form as well. Hips up 1st, rounded back, hitching and going up on toes to try and lock it out- nothing was right about it. Hilarious the way he strutted away as if he'd actually lifted the weight! It's all very well using that kind of form with baby weights like 450, but try and do that with 600 and you'd be so incredibly screwed. As the weights go up, the probability of injury increases hugely.

That's why you don't find any truly strong people with form like that, because the only ones that survive are the ones with good form. The ones with bad form are sat at home full of regret.

My form is fine :D. Im seeing marked improvement. He should drop the weight though. DW, I think if you try kinda leading with your head, your hips will stay down.

Danimal- What I meant was:

1) Regardless, it still would pass in strongman, 1st rep or not. You're not being fair when you say "its the last reps" usually, because there is the "max" deadlift event where you will have to pull the most weight you can, and they will max with a hitch many times. That is the closest related strongman event to what DieselWeasel's MAX deadlift was, and you do have to admit this. :) HOWEVER:

2) HE SHOULD DEFINITELY DROP THE WEIGHT!!! but:

3) He IS taking advice, at least mine anyways, because he DID make an attempt to fix his form. He is trying, but I think dropping the weight compounded with better form would work better.

4) I'm not disagreeing or trying to argue with you, you definitely know your stuff, but I felt like making some points.

215x0 is one of the most impressive lifts of his I have ever heard. Seriously... it means he didn't cheat a half rep up with awful form and assistance from his spotter, he actually tried to lift what he could handle. Now if his other lifts just followed suit...

humm...every two weeks i dunno. do what u feels right but id go every 4 weeks and thena week off and then max. thats how i usually do my **** depending on the length of the routine.

I try to MAX out every two months, then I know that I'll get maybe a 10-15lbs gain, it's usually more. Last time I gained 25lbs.

Maxing every 2 months isn't that long. Just keep doing what you are. I max every 2-3 months sometimes longer. It's not necessary to max more often really unless you are competing often, in which you would be doing a max or near max attempt.

Yeah, he has been trying to take my advice, you can see that in his 450lb deadlift set up. I just think, if he can't maintain good form after his good set up, then the only way to fix his form is to drop the weight now.

2) You can still injure yourself doing rack deads, you might get carried away and put more weight on the bar than you can handle (like you do now) and cause injury to yourself

Doing 20 reps with 405 would be insane at my bodyweight of just under 155. The last time that I repped out 405, I only did 4 reps. If I did 6-8 with 405, I would be satisfied.

In the original thread, it sounded like they were going to do that challenge too but then they stuck with 405 instead of using both.

They will, partially. They work the upper back/traps a LOT, and also hit the glutes hard, all of which affect the lockout. BUT, they are not biomechanically similar enough to actually strengthen the lockout. They turn into something like a 1/4 squat kind of.

The college weight room is closed until the Fall semester starts, so I will be doing strongman training at home in the meantime.

When I return, I will do a 315x20 deadlift. The week after that, I will see how many reps I can do with 405, hopefully at least 6 because my last PR with 405 was 4 reps and that was a while ago.

That's the plan and we'll see how it goes.

They will, partially. They work the upper back/traps a LOT, and also hit the glutes hard, all of which affect the lockout. BUT, they are not biomechanically similar enough to actually strengthen the lockout. They turn into something like a 1/4 squat kind of.

The college weight room is closed until the Fall semester starts, so I will be doing strongman training at home in the meantime.

When I return, I will do a 315x20 deadlift. The week after that, I will see how many reps I can do with 405, hopefully at least 6 because my last PR with 405 was 4 reps and that was a while ago.

That's the plan and we'll see how it goes.

Well, it might help those who have a low training age, overall on the deadlift I mean, because:

1) Handle heavier loads
2) Strengthen weak muscle groups
3) Strengthen grip

But, as you get stronger and stronger, they'll probably help less than actual deadlifts.

week 1: 315x20
week 2: 405 to failure (hopefully at least 6 reps)
week 3: 460x1
week 4: 465x1
etc. until 500x1.

Alright, take a look. The 315 actually sounds good, except for the fact that if you're going for a high number of reps, or going to failure, your form will get worse and worse as the set goes on. You're still going to end up using bad form, probably worse than a max out set.

The 405 would be OK, except you're going for max reps...so your forms gonna go to **** anyways..

You're going back to heavy weights WAY too fast. You need to work on form for a month at least, with weights under 405lbs, without straining,and without going for rep PRs...perhaps twice a week. Once with 315-450, and the other day would be 135-225.

You really don't want to strain when you're fixing form. It should be easy to moderate stuff.

i highly doubt 20 is gona happen. mabey 8 or 10 at best and 405 for 6 haha i wonder how bad u are gona throw away ur form. and btw by doin 460 for 1 and then 465 for one....how do u expect to shoot right to 500. that makes no sense.

I don't know why you can't understand the 'etc. until 500x1' line. That means that I will be adding five pounds to the bar every week until I deadlift 500, NOT an attempt at 500 directly after doing 465.

it starts fine besides immediately turning into a SLDL

as soon as you hit your knee your chiropractic dream begins

your feet wiggle all around leaving you with moving, unsteady, dangerous base(poor knees/ankles)

you hitch worse than Ive ever had to in any strongman contest(poor back)

need to develop better power to keep the ass down and not stiff leg the entire lift, and its pathetic how easily it moves above the knee to what happens then...drop the weight and work on that so you can have a *real* 500, clean, that noone can diss

right now when it comes to the DL I'm backing off on weights for a month and.. I want to equal Jon Anderson's 500 x 21, on monday we'll see what I can do :)

but enough about me - DW rack pulls will not help your lockout, you have a 'weak point' because you're using too much damn weight to handle. Factor in that you're not using your legs to break the bar and it's no wonder you need to hitch to stand with the weight. Drop the weight, work on speed and form and you'll be doing 455 clean in 6 months.Don't you have a vid of the 705 pull at IA's?

that's some **** you should show DW...a good, strong, clean pull. Nt only that, but that's a 705 pull with a less than 100% hammy, right?

I admit that it wasn't a completely smooth pull but I think you're exaggerating the amount of hitching that was done in that video. There actually was not much of it.
