DW,
the squats look solid, i think the idea of using hack squats and sldl's along with calves will definately help build your squat. Cool that you're using the video as motivation, the sldl's should definately help your back and you could also incorporate some goodmornings to help even more on the lowerback. The standing extensions look pretty sick, nice going on those...was it tough keeping steady during that? The inclines and curls also look damn nice, good job on all the pr's bud! Keep up the great work!

Thanks. It wasn't difficult for me to maintain balance during the Standing Extensions. However, as you can see in the video, I took a couple of steps forward on the last rep of my Barbell Curls which is evidence of being unbalanced.

Yes. The green nail is the next level after the white nail. I will try to do the video of a green bend in a few minutes. It will be done before my abdominals workout.

I did a few kettlebell exercises for the core, 105 consecutive crunches and a lying, static leg raise for 35 seconds.

MXdawg2: Yeah, it was five seconds faster and with no brace against my body, just like the while nail.

Thanks. I'm going to work with the #3 from now on and warm up with the Trainer, #1 and possibly the #2.

Both my neck and traps were hurting today and I decided to try to lift through the pain and stiffness, like a dumbass. Needless to say, I missed a bunch of clean and press attempts with 160 (4lbs more than last time) and then I tried to push press the same weight and missed those too. I also tried to bend the yellow nail, yesterday evening which probably affected my wrists. So I probably need to take another day or two off and then see how I feel.

It's definately an underhand barbell row video, just like it says in red text when you start it. However, I'm not bent-over as much as this dude:

The barbell calf raises are cool. Instead of putting the barbell across my traps, I deadlift the bar and then proceed to go up on my toes for each rep while holding the bar in front of my thighs. You should try it. However, I would recommend that you use straps unless you also want your forearms to get a workout along with the calves. :)

I'm not bending over as much as I should but the barbell was definately hitting my lifting belt on every single rep except for maybe the last one. I was going high enough, I just need to bend over more.

with what, 6, 7 hitches there at the end? yes you got it up, but DW you have an awesome training tool in these videos to really critique your form and learn from your mistakes. It's no coincidence that several people are addressing the same concerns here. We all have some ego and that's what pushes us to get better, but sometimes it needs to be checked so that we can safely and efficiently make progress. If you dont take the advice youre getting here, thats fine, but people are just trying to help.

Exactly. I'm not really trying to bust your balls here. It's like your picture topic... why post things like that and open yourself to criticism, but only accept the compliments? You have bad form. You are strong but you need a lot of work. If only one of your elbows locks on only one rep of a military press, then it's not a set of 3. If it takes you 20 seconds to complete a deadlift, you're toeing the line for a serious spinal injury. Etc, etc, etc.

It was more like 7 seconds to complete the deadlift, not 20. Also, two of the clean and press reps were full reps and the third was clearly stated as being a 3/4 rep.

Dew Scented? I never heard of them.

That was weird. I somehow edited my last two workouts and instead of quoting it to edit and post my new workout, it was saved and now I can't edit that post. WTF? Well, even though I have it recorded on FI, here it is:

01/11/04 - Back

After exhausting my energy from a bunch of failed attempts at a 160lb clean and press, I didn't have much left in me for back but I still managed get a PR with the rows. I used 6lbs less than last time but I got 2 more reps and my form was better.

Next shoulder day, I'll either use 150, 152 or 156 instead of 160 for the clean and press.

Barbell Rows: 150X8, 190X6, 230X6

01/12/04 - Legs

Barbell Hack Squats: 140X8, 180X6, 220X6

I only have 3lb, 5lb, 10lb and 25lb plates for my adjustable dumbbells and barbell at home. Each collar weighs 1lb and the empty dumbbell is 2lbs. So, it's 4lbs plus whatever I add onto each side of the dumbbells.

Yeah, I got 10s and 25s on each side of the dumbbells because that's the only way to use more than 64lbs per dumbbell. :o

I'm actually right-handed.

01/25/04 - Chest

I wanted to get at least 4 reps with the 80s because I got 3 reps with that weight on the flat bench last time I did that exercise, one month ago. I was able to get my right arm up, but the left arm only went up about halfway. I think the rack that's supposed to hold the barbell might've got in the way on the last rep. Then after that, I tried to do at least 5 reps with the 74s on the incline bench, but that just wasn't happening because my strength was depleted from the flat bench and/or I was upset from the last set of flat bench. Overall, it wasn't too bad but I was hoping for better.

Flat Dumbbell Bench Press: 40sX8, 60sX6, 80sX3.5

Last night, I tried to bend two white nails together at the same time, but that wasn't working too well. :o

After that, I bent one of them using the regular method and for the second nail, I bent it behind my back. So, that was definately cool.

I didn't get it on video because the nail was already slightly bent. I'll try to get some video, next time I bend.

01/28/04 - Grip

Highlights

- I bent the white nail behind my back in 36 seconds after a failed behind the back attempt with the green nail.
Video: http://s21.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3AG4TFZQVD01N2WURUCSPAH4FR

- I wasn't able to try 285lbs with the one-arm R-Ring lift because there wasn't enough space on the the setup that I rigged up with my loading pin and loading straps. I need those damn olympic plates to arrive in the mail!

- I closed the HG250 gripper for the first time.

02/05/04 - Chest

- I forgot to post my final two workouts from home. I liked my perfomance during the back workout better than the chest workout. Oh and I'm getting 270lbs worth of olympic plates tomorrow along with the two 25lb olympic plates that I already have. After the plates arrive, I'll be able to do farmer's walks with 175lbs per hand in my backyard. My bodybuilding.com supplement shipment is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow AND the weight room also reopens tomorrow too!

Flat Dumbbell Bench Press: 36sX8, 56sX6, 76sX5 (down from 80sX3.5)

02/06/04 - Back

Barbell Row: 120X8, 180X6, 240X4

- I will definately be doing more exercises for back, legs and chest when the gym reopens, starting tomorrow. I've been very limited in regards to exercise selection while lifting at home. Stay tuned for some great gym lifts and possibly vids.

Goals:

455 Deadlift
255 Bench Press
315 Squat ( parallel :o )
315 SLDL
175 Military Press
IronMind Yellow Nail
200lbs per hand Farmer's Walk
350 One-Arm R-Ring Lift
Dips w/ 135lbs

Twinlab Andro Nitrate3 Fuel (1AD/4AD)

I'm taking 1capsule every day that I lift until there's none left which will be in about three weeks, more or less.

Hmmm, that's new to me.... who makes this?

Universal makes the chewable creatine (Creatine Chews) in orange and grape flavor. I bought the orange.

Well, the media sorta dummied it up a little... they call any pro-hormone 'andro'. But there are a lot of kinds: 4AD, 5AA, 1,4andro, 1AD, nor, etc... and that's not even mentioning the methylated ones.

you take 1 a day, I dont thik 1 a day is going to do anything at all besides maybe shut your natural test production down.. not sure if what your taking is even strong enough to do that though. Do you have any plans on anything for PCT? If you researched, you could have found something better to take then twinlab andro fuel..

and if you did any research on it, you would have realized that people who use ph's or aas CYCLE with them, not just keep taking them with no idea on how much or how long your going to be using them.. you been taking it for along time atleast thats what you said awhile back you were just going to take 1 a day on workout days.

they are illegal now anyway, and im pretty sure if you have just 1 ph pill/cap it is the same as having anabolic steroids, and I read that they were either trying to or did make steroids the same as having something like heroine and crack.. pretty ridiculus I think but just telling you the legal part about it anyway.

A sledge hammer lever lift is this: http://www.geocities.com/ltgodfrey/overlever.jpg

I touch my nose with the sledge and go all the way back up, every time.

In the plate pinch entry, the 10s represent 10lb plates, a.k.a. "dimes" and the second number is the amount of reps completed. The two outside plates are smooth side out. A complete rep is when the plate is brought up just below my crotch and both my body and arm holding the plates are straight. I usually don't hold the plates at the top position for very long because it's very difficult for me to just pinch them up to to the top position, let alone pause at the top too. I never curl them but I occasionally will clean and press them overhead. However, sometimes I do plate curls, which is a totally different exercise.

This was my first day back at the college weight room. I didn't have enough time to directly work my calves because it's not open for very long on the weekends.

Squats in the Rack: 135X8, 183X6, 205X4

Yeah, I wanted to do more (triceps and maybe more for the chest and delts), but the gym was closing again. I don't really have much time on the weekends. The hours are from 1:00 - 3:45 and I usually get there after 2pm. Plus, I help my younger brother lift too, after my sets.

There was a major leak in the ceiling of the designated weight room on campus, so I was forced to wait about an hour and a half until I could use the other weight room. I also got a PR on every exercise today.

Rack Pulls (3rd pin): 275X8, 365X4, 475X0, 465X0, 460X1
(These were performed slightly below the knees. I should have the video uploaded tonight, after I return from classes.)

Weighted Pull-Ups: BWX6, BW+70X4

Seated Cable Row: 130X6, 250X4

Barbell Shrug: 185X8, 330X12
(The last four or five reps of the final set were performed with a reverse grip because my hands were sore from the previous three exercises.)

Very nice squats, Diesel. Awesome PR there. SLDL look great, too. How do you do your barbell calf raises? I do mine with the bar held like I was at the top of a deadlift then the stand on a long 2x4, but my heels hit the ground and it's hard to keep balanced. I'm looking for some better ways to do calf exercises, but I'm kinda limited as I do my lifting at home.

I do my barbell calf raises with the bar across my shoulders, like I'm doing squats. When I lifted at home, I did them like you do yours, with the barbell held in the top deadlift position. I like the way that I'm currently doing them because my grip isn't a limiting factor, like with the other variation.
