First, what sport you play, and second what type of speed training you do for it-like go through a run-down of what you would do on a speed training day.(referring to running speed, not Westside Barbell stuff).

I play alot of Soccer and do alot of Road Cycling which is perfect for such a sport as Soccer. It helps with Acceleration, Top End speed, Quads, Calfs, Stamina and Endurance. I usually ride on the weekends for around 6-8 hours a time, busting my ass, hitting the steep hills and romping up them like they weren't there. If your wanting to become faster, more conditioned, have great cardio, buy yourself a Road bike. Plus it gets you away from home and into the "Country" which is pleasant. More injurys are done in running than cycling to.

I also do quite a bit of Fell Running which is running up and down a long/steep hill many times. This helps amazingly with Cardio/Stamina/Endurance and "Does" strengthen the legs especailly your calfs.
