Derek,
Pics are great! I like the last one. I think you should try the pose that arnold did that was similar.

Just out of curiosity, how many days before the competition are you going to start carbing-up? (If a grammar teacher reads that sentence they're gonna burst into flames :( )

I agree, back thickness/quality takes years to develop. I honestly cannot wait for after the competition so I can start gaining again.

Impressive

What is your weight in them and what weight do you plan on competing at?

Derek, you're still scrunching down too much when doing the side chest poses. You need to be standing erect and expanding the ribcage as much as possible. And your upper arm should be alongside your torso, not behind it. Otherwise your posing is fine.

I see what you mean about "depleted"; you look smaller in these pics than in the previous sets, but about as symmetrical as I've ever seen you. I think you're about on target for the show.

Derek, I was just curious if you were going to do the 2 cardio sessions a day and no carbs this weekend. If so wouldn't you be doing a slight carb load on Monday? Then slightly depleting but not much all week which is smart imo and then the carb load. But is there a reason for a carb load Monday? I was just curious.

Because I will be one depleted mofo come Monday. The idea here is to slowly give myself carbs over the week instead of bombarding everything all at once. I am tapering my carbs down from Monday-Friday so I will not be fully glycogen replenished. I will be doing forms of training throughout the week, which I will post on Monday.

Ok I get it. Thanks for the answer. What your doing looks like it could be hard being depleted almost all the time, excuding 1.5days of carb ups and tiny bits of carbs around thrus and fri workouts, but look at the pics. It definately works. You have the overall I think and if you don't I wanna see the freak who beats you because it will truely take a lot.

Completely unbelievable , the striations that come out in your most muscular remind me of fireworks. Keep up the madness good luck at your comp.

It amazes me how large and seperated your quads are. You've got to be proud of what you've accomplished. Seems those side chest poses are giving you trouble. Your chest is huge, you need to let everyone at the venue know it. Try hands on hips most muscular and hands behind you at lower back most muscular. With your massive chest and legs, that would look overpowering.

your legs are massive, with some more striations...wow

You do look great. Unless something goes drastically wrong during the last couple days, I dont see any reason why you shouldnt be the favorite. Now for the critique. Id say right after this contest you should hit your chest hard for a couple months. Its probably your weakest point. Your legs and lats are both pretty amazing for your age.

Gibblets
07-06-2004, 11:11 PM
im assuming he plans on hitting everything hard, hes not quite to the point where hes so huge that its not about getting a whole lot bigger everywhere anymore and just focusing on weak points and catching them up, he's still gonna grow plenty all over the place. and actually, if i had to pick out one weak point he had id actually say its his upper middle back, his chest matches the rest of his physique id say. hes got wide ass lats and a christmas tree for a lower back, but the upper back seems to be lagging behind the rest of his body, there just isnt a lot going on up there in terms of defitinition and detail. but as stated before, that will come with time, especially since the rest of his back is so big.

You're Lookin Great.
I wish I had some time to give a little more input (seeing as how i am halfway around the world and al) - but maybe on your next contest I can add a litle insight. Your legs relly are massive and you do need a little more mass in your back to balance that out, but you look awesome. I look forward to coming back and seing how you progress over the next couple weeks.

I'm too tired to comb my hair...

Gibblets

then eat some carbs you poor depleted boy! you should be eating cheese cake with relatives and chasing after the ice cream truck like a normal boy on his summer vacation. not eating powder and crying to remove fluid from under the skin! and have someone comb your hair so even if you feel like you want to just keel over you look like your all ready for an orchestra recital. you poor poor boy.

damn one week out already, it seems like it was just 15 weeks out, yesterday.

Looking forward to see how you do training and cardio on the last week, as well as the diet.

Derek, I completely agree with JimPern on this point. Try not to drop the front shoulder so much. Instead, pull the front shoulder back, and then set it by dropping it slightly. At the same time, you can scrunch the other shoulder in order to squeeze the away-side pectoral. The front arm should be bent at about 90 degrees with the clasped hands lightly touching the obliques. The attached picture shows a perfect example of how to do this pose.

You look almost ready, but your posing needs to be better.

The left side tri is absolutely perfect, however the right one is a little worse.

Your side chests are also not that great because you bring your upper body too low, making yourself seem smaller and making your chest smaller.

Try the side chest pose while doing a vacuum. Or, just bring up your upper body don't slouch.

on the lat spread, hold your hands a little higher it'll make you look wider.

My opinions, perhaps i'm wrong.

Derek, how big are your legs? Also, do you know what your vertical is? I'm just curious.

Besides that, you looking ****ing awesome. I'd say good luck, but you probably don't need it. ;)

Crush all the competition bro. :)
