Everyone has heard of ecdysterone and ecdysteroids and knows that they do have some benefits, however, they are found, even at high doses, to be relatively mild. Notably, they have a pure pro-anabolic effect with no androgenic side effects, but again due to issues of absorption and bioavailability as well as transcriptional factors (information given by a compound at the receptors) they have not panned out in the real world use of athletes and bodybuilders.
Actually it is the cholesterol side chain of ecdysteroids that inhibits the possibility for any degree of notable androgen receptor (AR) stimulation and obviously as well potentially higher potency and transcriptional activity. For a steroidal structure to properly engage the AR-receptor there must be a hydroxyl group at the 17 position of the compound. Let's see if I can explain that a little better.
An AR-receptor is like a lock in that it takes the right key to actuate its mechanism. So if the wrong key or compound is inserted into the lock or receptor then it is not going to open the door you want it to. In the case of ecdysteroids, the area of the key that needs to be re-structured so it works in the receptor is at carbon-17 by way of adding a hydroxyl group.
So We Found a Hydroxyl Group at 17, then kept going!

About me (as posted from my application and some other stuff):

Training experience: Well I started in the winter of 97/98 when I was entering my freshman year for football. We lifted around a BFS type of schedule where we did 3x3, 5x5, 10-8-6-4(-2), 5-4-3-2-1-1-etc on rotating weeks. This is how I lifted all throughout high school and upon attending college for football, we also lifted like this. So for about 8-9 years, I lifted primarily on this schedule. After that, I've been tried a brief stint of a 5x5 workout and hated it. I also tried a variant of the Body for Life workout (workouts split into upper and lower body days) and I too hated it. Then I settled into my own variation of the Max-OT program about a year ago and have been doing it ever since. I've been thinking about trying the Westside barbell system, but I will stick on my Max-OT if I get chosen to test for this.
Current Training Schedule / Protocol: I don't have set days when I hit the gym but I pretty much go as I see and if I'm still sore then my workout will just be delayed for a day. For each workout, I aim for 4-6 reps but sometimes I get as high as 10 or 15 for something like shrugs or calves.Currently my days look like this:
Day one: Legs:
Squats
Leg presses or hack squats
Leg extensions or front squats (not very good at these)
Lying leg curls
SLDL
Standing leg curls, glute ham raises, or lunges
Seated calf raises

Cardio Schedule/Protocol:
I'm currently performing HIIT for my cardio and loving it! It reminds me of my days of olde in football. Currently, I'm at the 13-minute session increasing a minute per week or how I see fit. I'm performing HIIT around three to four times per week, however, I would love to increase to five times per week now since I'm finished with actual school work and I'm just finishing my research.
Current supplements:
Vitamin Depot Multi for morning and night and GNC Megaman for preworkout.
GNC Vitamin C
Swanson Calcium Citrate
C N W GABA
GNC creatine mono for off days
Primaforce Primal N2O for on days
Dymatize Elite Whey Choc Mint
CL Red Acid Gen2 (running a hair low; will probably not replace)
CL Purple Wraath (I might not make it completely through this log with the current amount I have)
USP Labs Super Cissus Rx
USP Labs Anabolic Pump (on carb refeed days ONLY)
Probably another one or two different proteins
Possibly Axis SMASH for creatine if I run out of Primal N2O
Current Diet and macros (as much detail as possible):
TKD; 63% fat, 35% protein, 2% carbs. Right now, I'm on roughly 2500cals per on-day and at 2000cals per off-day.
Current Daily water intake:
1.5-2.5 gallons per day
Short Term Goal:
Cut to 6-8% bf while trying to maintain as my muscle as possible.
Long Term Goal:
Hit 280 at 10% and compete in strogman events, namely WSM, however, I don't want to reach too unhealthy levels as my father and grandfather died at 47 and 49 respectively. I'd like to live longer even if that means I have to lose all of my strength.
Supplement history:
This list is probably incomplete, but this is my best guess. I've always taken a multi, calcium, protein, and creatine since my sophomore year in HS (spring/summer 99). Along the way, I've taken the following "specials":
Andro, DHEA, M1T, Mag 10, Equibolan, Test 250, Fizogen On-cycle (original formula), Methyl Dien, 1-AD, 4-AD, JW, SNS Methyl-Drol XT, Pinnacle Ecdybol (or whatever their Ecdy product was), EC stack, Glucosamine/MSM/Chondroitin, Hot Rox, Nutrex Lipo-6, AX PCT, Vitamin C, ALA, NAC, L-glutamine, L-arginine, L-carnitine, ON's Amino 2222, bulk CEE, various MRPs, probably some other stuff I can't remember, and, of course, my current supp list.

Today I thought my partner couldn't lift, so I thought I was gonna do legs then as he doesn't do legs. But I got the call this morning saying he wasn't working, so I had to change my plan for today, but no fear.
Anyway, about the workout, I had CRAZY strength and energy today! However, I had this annoying pain today that carried over from last night where my right trap and shoulder meet. It definitely wasn't joint pain but it does feel weird; hopefully it's not any sort of stress fracture. I will post my diet later today along with my drugs popped.
EDIT: Whew, I squeezed it in before the third page! I guess that doesn't make me as bad as Farang, which isn't saying much :D

There's no real pain, but it's pretty tough on my shoulders though. I usually switch them around between bth and military.

Sadly, I'm not feeling the effects that most people experience. I bought it mainly for the appetite suppresion, but as of yet after 1.5 bottles of the stuff, I don't think I've experienced any suppresion at all. I also like the jittery feeling of stims and this doesn't provide such, for me, but I'm sure most people would like that. I do enjoy the thermo effect from it though as it causes me to drink more water than normal which is always good IMO. Overall, I do enjoy it and do not bash it, but it just may not be for me.

Wow, thanks for your thoughts.. I'm still getting through the first bottle. Weirdly I am feeling the opposite. I dont get much of a thermo effect at all but appetite suppression has been very noticeable. It seems to put me in a bit or a more alert state, though definitely not close (and I don't think that was the intention) to a stim. Interesting nevertheless!

2 Red Acid Gen2 pills with 2 Redline Gelcaps first thing when you wake up prior to eating. THAT crushes appetites, sees the weights driven before you, and lets you hear the lamentation of the women!! Seriously, for me that combo rocks.

Off
Today was off because I had to be at a bachelor party all day that consisted of hours of golf in the hotass sun! Now I'm burnt like hell and it feels effing great! But anyway, I can't wait to get my butt into the gym tomorrow. Here is today's info, it was my cheat day/carb refeed. I couldn't eat as often as normal because of all the golfing, but I ate a lot and often as possible:
30 minutes prior to meal 1

Today's workout was EXCELLENT!!! I had TONS of energy, most likely due to the carbing and such from yesterday. I really didn't want to leave the gym either, mainly because I love lifting, but also this hot 20 year-old blonde girl kept talking to me between sets :cool:
Overall, I'm feeling great energy and I haven't done anything different for awhile other than the addition of Pro-Anabol. I also chugged one of the two samples of Nectar today PWO, however, I'll post my thoughts in a seperate thread. I've also been hungry as hell all day too, but I really don't want to eat much as my stomach is killing me from all those damn hot sausages yesterday.
Lastly, I've been wandering around a little bit in the powerlifting section for the past few days and I came across the CoC grippers and I think I'm going to buy some to help with my forearms. I really hate doing both barbell wrist exercises as it puts my wrists in an akward position where it doesn't even remotely feel comfortable. Only the concentration wrist curls feel the most normal, so I feel the CoC grippers would be great. I'm just having a hard time figuring out which ones to get. I think #2s might be too weak and #3's might be too hard... What do you all think?

Sorry, standing with dumbbells, curl left arm first, then the right, repeat till dead. This is the same way I perform hammers unless otherwise noted, for example, seated hammers, rope hammer curls on cable crossover, etc.

HIIT, well sort of
Today was all messed up! First, I went out to my car this morning to go to school but the ignition wouldn't turn. It seems the lock cylinder on the ignition is busted and I can't start it with my key. Fortunately, I drive a manual and I park kind of on a hill so I can just push it up the top of the hill and let it coast down, pop the clutch and it will start.
Second thing, I wanted to go to the gym to do legs tonight but with my current car condition, I thought I would just do HIIT at home in the fields since I'm currently living on my aunt and uncle's farm. I normally stretch for about five minutes and jog for about five minutes but today I thought I would jog a little bit longer to get used to the bumpiness of the fields. It hurts like a bitch, more than past muscle pulls. And about the farm thing..... uhh ya, I thought it was cool when I first moved on it, now I hate it even though I don't do anything anymore. I don't know which was worst though, baling hay in the summer or milking at 3AM on school days.

In regards to the pull, I have no more advice, sorry, but I thought I messed up my glut/ham real bad a cpl weeks back, and after some good stretching it went away much quicker than I though, so good luck

Where I park it's a baby hill, probably only need to push it 20ish feet at about a 10-15 degree incline. The decline is much steeper at roughly 30-45 degrees going about 100 feet or so until the driveway levels. I've pushed it in the snow before when my car got stuck in the packed snow-ruts turned-ice. Smell what I'm stepping in?

It seems the lock cylinder on the ignition is busted and I can't start it with my key. Fortunately, I drive a manual and I park kind of on a hill so I can just push it up the top of the hill and let it coast down, pop the clutch and it will start.
Second thing, I wanted to go to the gym to do legs tonight but with my current car condition, I thought I would just do HIIT at home in the fields since I'm currently living on my aunt and uncle's farm. I normally stretch for about five minutes and jog for about five minutes but today I thought I would jog a little bit longer to get used to the bumpiness of the fields. Try heat for that hammy...maybe some ice also.
Do ice pack 30mins....something REALLY hot for 30 mins..do it how ever many times you feel is needed. It's what i tried when my hammy blew out on me during football season....o..and rest it. :p
o..and that ALLMAX girl is deffinitly a 20 out of 10! :D

I agree. I'm not into some of the buff women at competitions, but in the offseason when they don't have a lower BF than me lol, its all good. But that Michele girl is super hot indeed :)

dont do legs or deads until you feel its almost healed. right now it could be minor, but if you tear it bad your looking at weeks upon weeks of no legs.

I had one more week left in the intense phase when I got a killer headache that lasted for days. My doctor made me go get an MRI (cost to me: $3500) to check for an aneurysm. Long story short, I was okay, but never finished the program. I got about 30 lbs out of the base mesocycle, though.

The tabs are so bright too, I think I can see them in the dark! They remind me of the orange highlighter color. And the tabs themselves are a little hefty, but I ain't skeered!

To start today, my leg felt friggin great and I couldn't believe that it felt like my hammy pull was gone. I had to work last night to for the Drowning Pool concert too! That greatness feeling didn't last too long as it was tough doing a few movements today like the pulldowns, the seated rows, and the dumbbell shrugs :eek: Despite the roughness in the hammy, my seated rows and upright rows felt REAL strong today! I was quite surprised I was grinding out the higher reps on the upright rows, thus my reluctance to add weight for my second set of upright rows.
Pulling the dumbbells off the floor for shrugs was a friggin trick too; it felt like I was just using my left leg to push up that weight.
I will post my diet for yesterday and today in a few minutes.... I've been too lazy recently :mad:

So obviously I attempted to do light hammy work and that still didn't feel wonderful so I obviously went onto calves. I was pleasantly surprised with the weights I could do without any hammy strain, so I kept on going :cool: However, my knees were definitely feeling the volume during hacks but I couldn't let that stop me. I'm thinking of increasing my Super Cissus Rx dosage because of the lack of joint relief I've been feeling. Okay, it's back to the game now, be back at halftime!

This goes about $165. Would you add anything assuming that they have the staples along with their diet down?

JW already has 3,4-Divanillyltetrahydrofuran in it. It's a lower quantity sure, but I don't think a full dose of Activate would be necessary.
I'm guessing they want to do something non-hormonal?

Thanks man! I do worry about my spotter(s) too though he actually knows how to spot. Sometimes on chest, my tris are usually so dead that it is kinda scary on some reps but I've learned my limits. And I'm looking into maybe just JW to give myself a break of cutting before I do my Furazadrol/11-OXO stuff.

don't worry about it bro, I've been lifting for going on 14 yrs. the only time I was worried about pounds was when I was into power-lifting in highschool. As long as your working your muscles to the limit(regardless of the weight) that's all that matters

I used to be that way until I just sat back and thought about how my training was progressing. Also I had shoulder surgery when i was 18 and I like getting help off the racks to take some stress off the joints, but to each his own. Looking forward to your end review.

Yesterday was an AWESOME workout! There was so much crap going on that I didn't have a chance to update, but basically I got called into work which pissed me off because I was wanting to do arms all day. So I got to work then a tornado touchdown a few miles from work and the power went out. So we waited an hour to see if the power came back on and it didn't so we had to tear down all the band crap in the dark and we then got to leave. Despite all this drama at work, I didn't get knocked off my eating schedule, so I didn't have to think fast and I was quite happy with that. After the gym, I had to get going to catch one of my friend's band playing at a different bar in downtown Youngstown and didn't get home till 3am and I was about beat.
One effect I have been noticing the past few days is that I have been sleeping greater than normal. I often find myself sleeping 8-12 hours :cool: which NEVER happens for me while on GABA even.
