i don't understand how your chest grew so much in a couple of months...i'm not trying to be a d$ck but my chest measurement is less than yours...are you like puffing it out and filling your lungs in the second measurement...this isn't really aimed towards you but i'm wondering how everybody's chest supposably grows so fast????its strange because yours is bigger than mine and i rep your max on heavy days....

even when relaxed....back growth comes into play as well...Its a lot easier/faster to put an inch or two on your chest than on your legs...since proportionally chest is such a bigger measurement.

Exactly, there's more to a thread then just one post.

Ok just been wondering if there is an "official" or "assumed" method for girth measurement? Cuz I see quite a bit of variation between the ways people measure themselves. Are measurements taken pumped or cold by default? For chest measurement, is chest puffed out, are lungs filled?
thanks.

All my measurements are taken cold and unflexed.
Muscle size does not equal muscle strength. Strength is largely due to CNS properties. Therefore, one could have a 50" chest with a weak bench, while someone could have a 40" chest with a huge bench. If you look at the powerlifters, most have a small chest in comparison to their back/shoulders/triceps.
People put to much emphasis on measurements. I only use them to track progress. I wouldn't get caught up in comparing your measurements with someone else's.
Sidefx,
Just make sure your are consistent in the way you take your measurements.

Thanks beast. Yah, I just like to do things properly the first time, instead of learning 6 months later that I'm doing it wrong. Yes I agree, there are so many variables and inconsistancies in measurements that comparing them with somebody elses is a rather futile and meaningless affair. I just like to see myself progress in real numbers, because sometimes it's hard to tell just by looking (hmmm is my chest really bigger, or is my mind just playing tricks on me? ;) )
