Hey, i've been getting yelled at for still using Whey protein and dextrose post workout 7 weeks out.
This guy won the past 2 Novice Mr. Michigan's. He said as soon as i started my diet i should of cut out all supplements besides thermogenics.
"All that stuff will keep you fat." are his words
I am still going to use 25g of Isolate as soon as i wake up. But what about cutting out whey and dextrose for pre and postt-WO? I've been using 50g whey, 25 dextrose. sometimes i'll switch out the dextrose and put a pear or banana.

I cut creatine as soon as I started cutting, and i stoped whey protein powder only one week out.
Dextrose is sugar, its food not a supplement, however, i dont take it with my post workout when I cut down. but 7 weeks out you could take it until like 5 weeks out i guess.

different theories, i think either way works..the guy at the gym probably was telling you not take dextrose and whey because of the insulin spikes they provide...im assuming he wants you take in slow digesting proteins and carbs to keep insulin levels at a minnimum...i switched from the post workout dextrose/whey, to no whey/dextrose at 4 weeks out...but antoine waited till the last week and he looked outstanding,, so i guess it can be very individual, but both ways work!

very interesting stuff, i had no idea of this....my first show is in 4 weeks....i need to get to 8% bodyfat...ill be in the junior lightweight division and the show is calld "the Mississippi", its one of two shows a year down here besides the Southern Classic...this one is just state so i'll have a better chance...but if you cut out dextrose, what should you have post workout? Im 4 weeks out right now and need to drop almost 2% in bodyfat, but i dont wanna sacrifice too much size (hehe...thats gonna be tough) what do you guys recommend for pre and post workout? i've been doing 2 scoops whey/30 grams of dex post workout + 1/2 cup of oats..same for pre cept without the dex, but now what??

well you could go with oats, brown rice, yams...before and after workouts, glycogen will still be replenshed..whether its advantageous to fill your stores quicker with hi gi carbs is up for debate...but if you think you want to control insulin levels then low gi would be the way to go...another its done is to go very low carb for 3 days straight, and then on the third evening you have a big carb meal consisting of 200-300 grams of low gi carbs before you go to bed, this acts to restore glycogen stores and kick start your metabolism....so with this style ,, there is no pre workout or post workout carbs, just an emphasis on protein and fat, keeping insulin levels very low until the carb meal in the evening....more info on this style at b o d y b u i ld i n g wo r ld . c o m minus the spaces
