OK guys, I'm new here. I made the $1600 mistake last year and bought a Bowflex. Live and learn, I guess.
Because I want real results, I've decided to purchase something else that will complement the effort I put into working out.
I have narrowed my search for a suitable home unit to use on the days I can't get to the gym to either a Powertec Workbench leverage gym, or a Body Solid Power Cage and adjustable flat/incline/decline bench with leg developer.
Both use freeweights, but the leverage gym of course won't fine-tune the body's neuromuscular pathways. On the plus side, I wouldn't need a spotter to use the Powertec system.
Any thoughts?

Most people are going to tell you go with the cage but you need to decide what's best for you and your safety concerns. I have powertec products along with free weights, benches, bars, etc. I love powertec. Safe, solid, effective equipment IMO. Of course a cage would be a lot cheaper. Room is another consideration. Depending which powertec leverage system you get, the cage will save more space. Powertec stuff is generally compact considering what you're getting. A cage does offer safety bars.

So as much as I do like powertec I would say go with the cage for the benefits of working the little extras like stablizer muscles. Of course you can mix and match like I have.

Good luck.

Also, how much more danger is there in a power rack? I understand some home units come with "spotters", but how reliable/durable are these? The racks at the gym I go to don't have these safety bars. Then again, there are plenty of people there to lend a spot, so it isn't an issue there.

Very nice machine, but it's very expensive. I'd never heard of Szultka before now.

This machine is not expensive. I bought this machine for $1800 directly from Poland to France. Really very professional.

That's the wildest thing I've ever seen. Can even leg press on it. Very cool piece of equipment.
