I'm not preparing for a contest but I am cutting body fat. Sept. is my cut off to be as lean as I can. So I read alot of the threads in here about what people are doing to prep for thier contests, to see if I might want to use for my own personal contest. One thing I notice is the use of creatine and the saturation of the muscles. Heck even Layne Norton says to use it up untill your contest. Well this morning after I took my wife to the E.R. at 5am after getting to sleep at like 12-1am you can imagine I needed a cup of coffee to pick me up (I normally shy away from caffinated beverages). Well later while I was peeing I thought back to the saturation effect creatine has on the muscles. Now coffee being a diuretic, would this have a neg. effect on your muscle saturation or would this not be a problem with most competition ready body builders? Just curious!

your muscles should be saturated already. I would see this having more of an effect if you just started taking creatine and your muscles didnt already have the creatine and most of the fluid along with it already inside the cell

I'm not a competitor, but I've noticed that coffee can lead to minor dehydration which might cause the muscles to shrink (?). On the other hand it always leads to increased vascularity, and I notice my veins bulge quite a bit when I'm had a concentrated dose of black coffee.

Caffeine acts as a diuretic effect. The caffeine is a fat moblizer and along with that comes a slight more increase in fat loss
