Anybody have any ideas for what exercises that one can do help make snowboarding easier? For me it was all about the legs. For about a year all I did was upper body, not sure why. Then I started alternating upper and lower. For lower I added squats, DL's and calf raises. It's amazing how much the leg workouts helped. In Canada this past Spring Break when everybody else was complaing about being sore on the 4th day of snowboarding, myself and another girl that I introduced to weightlifting felt fine and happy. The bad part about snowboarding this season was that I cracked some ribs while trying to slide this crazy kinked rail. First time I landed on my a$$, 2nd time I landed on my ribs just below my left pec. It hurt like heck, but I got back up and nailed it on my 3rd try. I then did this rail and another without any trouble for a few more hours. Then a day later when my chest was hurting very much, my mom made me go to the emergency room. They gave me some nice drugs and obviously I was told not to weightlift for at least 8 weeks. Talk about bad luck. Well I'm finally back and my chest was the only place that I lost any strength. I'm gonna try and pack some more meat on my chest to prevent things like this in the future. Also I guess I was lucky that I didn't completely break any ribs, just some minor cracks that hurt like hell. Share some stories people!
