Okay well I'm 5'7" and I've been told to play football since i was a freshman, but now people are really pushing me to play(I'm 200 at 14%bf) and arent football players usually at least 6 feet? I mean if i join the team i dont wanna be on the bench 24/7 but right now take out all other aspects of the game and just by my size alone am i big enough?(weight and height wize)

Well what position do you have in mind? Height is important for many positions but there are exceptions. It sounds like you've got a good build to play fullback if you can run the forty under 5.0.

lol i was just going to post that i would want to play fullback and Im not fully sure on the speed but i know im pretty fast, what can i do to improve my forty?

yeah...I played fullback...then I went to running back...now im a linebacker and a slot receiver but like...yeah if you're going to be a fullback you dont really need to be that tall...just gotta be able to lead

and to improve on your 40 just work with plyometrics and run more...also do straight legged deadlifts

it depends how good ur school is really and how crazy u can go on the field. If u can play size dont really mean ****. there are pro's that are under 6 foot. Depending on speed and **** u would probily be best at fullback o line like a gaurd maybe and on defense either linebacker or line depending how quick u r off the ball and how strong u are. If u want to play go for dont let ur height stop u. u just gotta work harder then the big guys.

Spring ball has already been going on for 5 weeks here. They should have you doing lots of drills to improve speed during practice.

Best running back i've ever seen in my life was 5'8'' 140lbs soaking wet! He rushed for almost 1300yards his senior yr and was named to all state. He didnt get one offer by any college to play any ball either..Why? Cuss he was flat out to tiny.

i might be wrong but i think barry sanders was only like 5'7 or somewhere around there. there are lots of short running backs because u r low to the ground and it could help break takcles specily since there is less of u to hit.

Barry Sander's was 5'8'' 190lbs. Barry Sander's is my favorite football player and is still one of the greatest running backs in the game. Just sucks he is retired but oh well.

yeah.. alot of teams/coaches change the name for their positions to whatever would best suit a play. if we're in stick-i, they are half backs... if its a screen, they are hard-i's

Barry was 205-210 lbs.

He was one of the greatest, I loved watching him.

im 5'6" and i weight 160 pounds and i played fullback and i later moved to half back because i got faster. If you want to improve your speed do squats and do hills. hills make it easier to run people over and it aso improves speed. as a fullback you just have to be able to block and run hard, but if you play half back you shoud practice dots. this makes you quicker so yur cuts will be more effective, and lift a lot. im not a big kid in size but i have a nice muscle base and im strong. i bench 270 and i squat 340 and i run the 40 in 4.8, but the key is quickness and cuts.
