Thanks for the ideas!
Here is a new section for discussing issues related to training for specific sports. Want to know how to get ready for football season? What type of workouts should wrestlers do? What should you eat before the big game?
Discuss it all here and hope that your competition doesn't find this forum!
Thanks,
Ryan DeLuca

lol.. you should of made a new thread for this..but anyway,
in order to get good at soccer you have to have speed and acceleration

Don't forget good footwork. In your free time, practice dribbling the ball and lightly passing (unless you wanna go chase after the ball a lot!) with different parts of the foot. That will help you in the accuracy of your passes and help you fake someone out when they're competing for the ball. Another routine to help with passing accuracy is to have a cone (anything large enough for you to see will work) or series of cones placed at several areas on a soccer field (or your backyard) and practice dribbling the ball and passing to those cones while you are in motion. When the heat is on in soccer (I'm sure you're aware of this), most of your passes have to be quick and while on the move so your team doesn't lose possession of the ball. If you're playing the position of midfielder(half-back) or foward (striker), you'll also need to work on your shooting accuracy, so find a soccer goal somewhere and make shots with the ball at all angles possible. If you have a friend, have him/her play goalie. Good luck in making varsity!
You don't have to be good because if you have a good soccer mom you will play anyway.

Don't you think this could be unstickied by now? I mean after all, it's been 7 months since this section was made.

No, that would be impossible.
I don't even think mods come in this section...

does that mean that this forum will be over-run with petty arguments and racism? (stirring) :)
Nah, still that report post to the mod button.

I think there should be a seperate motivation section. There are too many people asking about motivation and what people listen to, to get motivated. I dunno maybe it's a bad idea. Just a thought.

i would like to see a sub-section for training journals in this new section.
People could post their workouts on known training routines or their own routines. For example; an athlete can do a vertical leap program or a sports specific strength program and post their workouts, how they feel, and their gains. This would be a great way to inform others on what programs work and the ones that dont.
By letting a member keep track of a training journal they could be more motivated and help others that are using the same training programs.
Just an idea

This is a great section for the forums to have.
I have been waiting for this for a while actually.
Hopefully it becomes popular.

stick to the compound lifts. have one push day, one pull day, and one leg day every week. for football a regiment could look something like this:
mon:
-bench press
-close grip bench
-military press
-incline press
-weighted dips
wed:
-cleans
-weighted pullups
-bb rows
-shrugs
fri:
-deadlifts
-squats
-leg extensions
-calf raises
-leg curls or straight legged deadlifts
since youre going for strength, keep your reps in the 4-6 range and make sure that the weights are heavy enough to ALMOST require a spotter on the last set of every exercise.
for quickness, youre going to have to do footwork drills, agility drills, stretching drills, and sprints. plyometrics also might be an option for building quickness.

I would like to see a hockey section, a football section, basketball section, soccer section, and a baseball section, and a general section
