Alright, here it is. You want it, you got it!!! :P
But really, I'm warning you, I'm not ACTUALLY that exciting. Sure, I inhale ghanja occasionally, and I love boys obessively, but other than that I'm not extraordinary.
I have to admit, I was reluctant to start a log at first, because if y'all know what I'm up to, you'll like what I'm doing, become me, and then there's a chance that soon, there will be hundreds, if now thousands of J-ME's walking around...and we just can't have that :) KIDDING!!!
OK, so I guess I'll just start with the basics: I'm training for a bodybuilding comp at the end of June now. I don't know whether I'm definitely going to do it or not, but I'm preparing like I'm going to do it. See, ever since I hit puberty, I've been a stick. Literally. I lost all my baby fat immediately. 5"7, 100-120 lbs over the last 6 years. Being scrawny was all I ever knew. Once I graduated high school, too many of the "wrong" people were telling me how desperately I needed to gain weight. I say wrong because none of these people were medical professionals. The MDs, dieticians, endos, gynos, they all said I was in perfect health and eating VERY adequately to fuel myself. I just looked too thin. So I embarked on a year long bulk. I put my heart, soul and body into it. I went up to 131 lbs.
It registered on the scale before it registered in my head. But once it registered in my head, damn. It hurt. I didn't recognize myself in the mirror. Everyone was commenting. I hated it :( I know this is body image dysmorphia, I understand that. But you have to appreciate that I was happy with who I was before, and both myself and the medical professionals knew that I wasn't ill. Anyway, I hated who I was on the outside. So I decided to do the comp so that I could lose the fat I gained. It turned out to be a little harder than expected.
Now, I'm sitting at 120 or so, with about 12-14% bodyfat. Not bad, I know; but also not where I want to be. To tell you the truth, I want to start it again. Back at 105-110, and clean, C-L-E-A-N, slow, S-L-O-W, bulk. The keto way. So my diet and my exercise will seem a little radical to you guys, but keep in mind that I'm prepping for a comp, and this isn't my usually routine :)
Now that the housekeeping's out of the way, I should note that I don't use fitday. I just kind of calculate my own macros. So I'll be posting them rather than every single one of my meals, unless you guys want to see those. And in terms of my routine, let me know if you want to see that too. I don't actually know if this should be like a personal, emotional blog, or a working out/diet one.
Input is invited and appreciated :)

Do you know how much I've missed you?! Are you coming to York in September?
UGH! Killer cardio session today! It was awesome. I kind of have a trainer helping me with my contest prep. He's more like a second father who knows his stuff. His name is Jerry and he's a 60 year old entrepaneur with 6% bodyfat and many a Master and Open titles under his belt.
Anyway, I told him that I was having problems getting my hams and glutes shredded, so he says to me he says like this he says (;)):
20 minutes rowing,
then, 20 minutes walking on a 15 incline (that's the max) with a 10 lb weight in your knapsack
then, 20 minutes on the Stepmill.
That's all the cardio you're going to do."
So it shall be written, so it shall be done. This is my second day in a row of this cardio and so help me lord if it wasn't a problem biking DOWNHILL to get home from the gym today.
Can you say, "WOO WOO!!!" :)

The machine goes up to 20, but I stay around 9 so that I can read my Flex magazine :) (helps make the time go by faster). Do you use it to? What level do you do?
When I'm at nine, my heart rate is usually somewhere between 150-160 which is 75-80% of my MAX heart rate. When I'm at level 6 it's usally 140-150 so sometimes I do that for a cool down.
Kris - Thanks, I hope I'll be ready

UGH! FRIENDS!!! My best girlfriend in the world is in from uni, and wanted to see me today. We were going to go to a movie, but since it's a WHOPPING (sarcastic) 20 degrees celcius here in Toronto, she decided we shold go for a walk.
2 hours and 46 minutes later!!!!! I was home. And tired. And sleepy. And hungry. Needless to say, it's was awesome seeing her again. And if I could, I would raise my leg to kick her in the stomach for making me walk so much after today's brutal cardio session.

I also just ate a pound of ground turkey. I'm going to lie down now :) I'm posting my macros because I'm going to see Shrek 3 tonight with some friends adn don't know if I'll be on later.

Great day today. It's Victoria's day in Canada, so that means everyone had the day off, I however, chose to go to the gym :) And it was empty (and awesome!!!)
Did the cardio/ab stuff in the morning and it was tough, as usual. I increased my walking speed from 2.8 to 2.9 and I could really feel the difference. It burned baby!!!
My workout today was shoulders and tris. I hit some PBs, but that's not really what I'm concerned with now. It's surprising that dispite the cut, I'm still keeping my strength up.
What I do is 3 straight sets of 12, then drop sets to failure starting with a weight that's higher than I finished with.
E.g. For dumbell curls today, I did 3 sets of 12 with 20, then I did 6 reps with 25, 8 with 20 and 8 with 15.
OK, i know some of you answered this question before, but I'm going to ask it again to clarify: Let's say that my BMR + daily activity = 2200 calories = Maintenance. But I eat 2600. Now, assuming I burn 3100 calories in total on workout days, am I still in a 500 calorie deficit??

are you cyling you levels of fat and protein? Have you seen a noticeable difference this way? I feel like my body isnt gettin enuff protein on the keto diet and was thinkin about upp'in my protein levels to hit like 40% and 55% from fat and rest from veggies...

are you cyling you levels of fat and protein? Have you seen a noticeable difference this way?
Ya, but I'm not seeing THAT much of a difference, probably because I'm eating so much, lol. I'm still not convinced that if I eat over my maintenance, but still burn more calories than I eat I'll lose weight.
I'll weight myself tomorrow and see what's up.
I did bis, chest, calves and abs today. It was pretty hardcore. I like drop sets a lot, they're challenging and they really get my heart rate up. It's just a bitch because I don't have a training partner, so when I have to take weights off the bar for bench presses, squats, etc. it wastes valuable time. Oh well!
Beautiful day at summer school as well :) Tomorrow, I'm seeing my ex (we broke up 3 times between Sept and January)...I wonder how that'll go...

Holy crap, is this just because of high activity levels outside of scheduled exercise or do you just have a zippy fast metabolism?

Holy crap, is this just because of high activity levels outside of scheduled exercise or do you just have a zippy fast metabolism?
Zippy fast (:)) metabolism + lifestyle activity accounts for about 2200 cals, and the rest come from my workouts

Ahh, gotcha. That makes sense - so many people would kill for a metabolism like that...although I'm sure at times it's not such a blessing. Anyway, keep up the great work. I look forward to reading the log.

Jaime,
That doesn't seem like very much. what are the conversions of grams to cups or oz? could it be possible that you are not getting as many calories as you think? I mean no offense by this.

Jaime,

33g = 1 oz.
It comes to about 2230 calories for that day.
Sorry I didn't post yesterday. Really hectic day. The ex cancelled on me. Well, he didn't really "cancel" per se, he just didn't call to. My training partner also didn't show up in the morning, but that was because he grandmother passed away, so it's cool. I guess she'll be out of comission for a while.
I woke up at 1 this morning :( Not cool. I had insomnia really badly from Oct-Dec, which is why I moved out of my apartment and back home. I promised myself that when my mom and I moved out of our house and into our own apartments in March that I would sleep properly, but for the last 3 nights, I've been waking up (as you can tell by my midnight posts). I really hope my GH release at night isn't effected by this.

Training = Cardio (of course), abs, shoulders, tris.
A question for y'all:
Because I go on the rowing machine everyday and put resistance on the highest intensity, do I have to do any direct back work with weights? Remember, I'm not trying to put on any more mass.
El Pena
05-24-2007, 05:25 AM
Slightly off on the conversion, 28.3g=1 oz :p.
Have you tried using melatonin? I go through periods of insomnia now and then and that usually gets me back to normal in about a week.
If the rowing machine is giving your back a good workout perhaps just eliminate the horizontal pulling but still do vertical pulling work.
jaim91
05-24-2007, 04:19 PM
Vertical pullin, eh? Hmm..like, wide-grip/close-grip lat pull downs? How about the cobra move? Chin-ups? Thanks for the advice.
Legs today. Makes me glad that I split up my weights and cardio otherwise I woulda been dead dead dead. Not that I wasn't dead after both my sessions, but I mean like, REALLY dead.
I'm going to the Ontario Physique Association Level one and two national championships this weekend. I wish I had a digicam. I going representing this company: bbnssnacks.com --> SOOOOOO GOOD!!! Protein popcorn! Mmmm..
Anyway, guys, I need your help. I really want to compete on June 30th, but I don't know if I'll be ready. I'm working out hardcore and dieting, but I don't think I'm as strict as I should be. I barely eat carbs, but I'm just scared that I'm overeating too much. I eat above maintenance but always burn more than 500 cals more than I eat. It's been about a week and I haven't seen a change.
Encouragement? I love you all! :)

Probably won't go to York in September, got three other offers, I'll see... I have taken a full summer semester for this summer, I'm really busy right now and not really thinking about it
I'm cutting, this is my fourth day :( I'm always hungry, that's driving me crazy !!!
I'll try to drop by more often :D I miss you !!!
El Pena
05-25-2007, 05:14 AM
Going from your earlier post. You are working out 5 days a week and burn 500 more than you take in then you are -2500 cals for those days, on the other two days, assuming you eat the same, you eat 400 cals over maintenance then you are +800. So at the end of the week you are
-2500
+800
=
-1700 for the week
At that deficit you would be seeing a slow change, but it's probably not what you want to do to be contest ready in a month.

Shut up you! :P
Yesterday's workout was just cardio and abs, and then horizontal pulls for back (Thanks El Pena!!!). It felt good. I'm starting to lower my cals and it's leaving my feeling a lot leaner and less bloated right before I go to bed and then again when I wake up in the morning...which is great.
I realized that I am a "boredom" eater. I ear when there's nothing to do, even if I'm not hungry. So, having come to this epiphany, and realizing there's an upright bike in my apartment, I've decided to forego one boredom vice for another, and whenever there's nothing to do, I'll bike while watching a movie or reading, it's great.
Today, I'm going to the Ontario bodybuilding championships, which is a qualifier for the Canadian Nationals. I don't know whether it's a Natural contest or not, but I don't really care. It'll be awesome!

Umm...maybe 120 grams per day. I vary my cheese sources and sometimes eat lactose free (if I'm at my mom's place). I love those red babybel circle wax cheeses too! Mmm....
Yesterday's comp was friggin friggin awesome. The quantity and quality of competitors was just astounding. If you want, you can go to www.northernphysique.com and check it out. The level twos were pretty jacked (men AND women) in a not so healthy way. But I had an awesome time, and ate my weight in free samples of protein bars and sugar free protein popcorn, it was fantabulous. I can't wait for my comp (if I do it!!!)

What a superb day! Minus the 4 hours (!!!) of badminton I had to endure. Mon and Wed I play badminton for gym class (mandatory), and because I'm missing Wed's class for my mom's b-day, I had to make it up by going to 2 classes today. I was sooooo pooped for my workout:
1) Cardio + abs for 100 minutes
2) Badminton for 2 hours
3) Weights for 50 minutes (shoulders, some legs, tris)
I decided to enlist the services of Ms. Nina Luchka (a Ms. Figure Olympia competitor) to help me prep for a photo shoot at the end of August and maybe a contest in late October. She's $$$, but worth it! Her girls on Saturday looked breath-taking and perfect!!!

what exactly is keto? is that a low carb eating plan?
Ya. It's pretty much no carb (except for the trace in veggies and nuts) 6 days a week, and then one 'free' day where you can carb-up. It's awesome, and soooooooooooooooo helpful in my goals.
Today I had a midterm. *Cue funeral music* OK, it didn't go that badly, but the thing is, that it was out of 20 marks, and worth 20% of my final grade. So each question I get wrong is one % off my mark for the course. CAN YOU SAY PRESSURE!?!?!
The good news is that I had some awesome workouts (J-ME <3's the stairmaster), I have a job (with www.powerpop.ca <--check it out!!) and a women at the gym asked me to be her coach/trainer/nutritionist for a figure competition she wants to do NEXT July. No airpopped popcorn on keto, but hells ya to the veggies. As much and as often as you want. www.waldenfarms.com makes ANYTHING taste great

Sorry I didn't post yesterdat guys, I didn't have a great day :( I made the mistake of weighing myself in the morning, and the number was NOT what I expected. Turns out, this was more of a bulk than a cut. I don't understand what went wrong. Unless I was heavier when I started the "cut" and HAVE, in fact, lost weight. I should have weighed myself when I began.
I know that I tell people to throw out the scale and numbers mean nothing and blah blah blah, but yesterday was just such a blow to my ego. I have a complete breakdown. I don't know why I got so worked up over it. I'm really quite embarrassed and scared. Anyway, Nina Luchka is designing my plan (nutrition and exercise) to be completed at the end of August, so I'm going to start being a lot more strict (cuz she's costing me a fortune, lol!)
Yesterday's totals:
Totals 1385
Fat 17
Carbs 47 (Most were from cottage cheese. I strained it, but I don't know how to adjust the macros accordingly on fitday)

So yesterday after school I worked for the popcorn company again. You guys really have to try this stuff. It makes for the best cheat on a carb up day, because it's not a simple sugar, it has a low GI Index rating, it has a little protein, very little fat...it's like a bodybuilder/healthy person's dream come true. Either way, I ended up eating most of the samples because it was kind of a slow day, which is why there are so many carbs in my macros :( It was a mini-carb up. But I did a lot of cardio, so taht should make up for it.
Yesterday's cals: 2313
Fat: 45
Carb: 59
Protein: 415
I don't know when the next time I'm going to have a carb=up day is because today is the day I get my plan from my new trainer. I'm so excited...wooo!!!

Great day. Met a friend for coffee and shopping, then trained myself and a friend at the gym, went home, had dinner, lounged around..the usual. Tomorrow, I make the trek (1.5 hours. $17 bus ride + cab) to meet with her and some of the other girls that are training (we have a group conditioning session). The only concern is that I think she thinks I'm a figure competitor, not a bodybuilder...hmm...

I just wouldn't stop :) Although, most of my carbs came from sugar alcohols, so I felt like I could eat a lot more without feeling guilty. My carbs averaged usually betwen 500-1000g depending on where my calories for that day where.
Healthy popcorn? Did I say that? lol... www.powerpop.ca <--TRUST ME!
My weight right now is around 130, and with the help of Nina I'm going to get it around 105-110, then do a C-L-E-A-N bulk to around 120 to compete. My cals were averaging around 2600, and I think she now has me on around 2000 (she just gave me the meal plan, not the breakdown).
The session was awesome today. A-W-E-S-O-M-E. I felt a little out of my element because all the girls there were figure, and I'm bodybuilding, but we still had a lot to teach and learn from each other. I'm going to go back in two weeks to train with her and the girls (ALL of them are going to the Provincial champpionships and the NATIONALS!!). YAY!!!
Cals: I think around 2000
I'll calculate the macros later. She has me eating 9 times a day. 9 TIMES!!! I think I'm going to take it down to 7 though because I find if I eat something that's not cottage cheese (I'm not allowed cttage cheese on this plan) right before bed, then it disturbs my sleep. We'll see....

Sorry I haven't been consistant. Other than the super awesome fantabulous training session this weekend, I haven't been up to much. I had a wedding yesterday, and then went to my brother's and sister in law's place for a BBQ (Which was great. She's also on a diet so we both had plan, no marinade, bbq'd chicken breast).
The training program is really intense. Yesterday I did legs and it killed me. Dead. Dead. Dead. Dead. In between EVERY exercise, she has me doing 50 (!!!) mountain climbers. Then, at the end, I have to do this "leg shaping" circuit that consists of 5 giant sets of 50 mountain climbers, 12 walking lunges, 20 burpess and then 12 walking lunges again. All of that 5 times. I better have legs that are more f***ing shredded than Branch Warren!!! :)

1000g of carbs is 9000 calories. you do 9000 cal in a carbup day? add to that any protein and fat calories at all (b/c they're found in trace amounts in most all foods) and you'd easily end up with a minimum of 10,000cal in one day. I find anything over 6,000 cal per day to be uncomfortable. 7,500 is doable, but quite uncomfortable for me.
I don't know why I said that, lol. I think I actually meant just 500g. The most calories I've ever taken in during a carb up is around 6500.
Yesterday was back, and today was hurt :) But a good one. I should mention that she has this devilish thing where I have to do exercises BETWEEN the exercises. E.G. After my 4 sets of wide grip chins, I have to do 20 hyper extensions, and 20 oblique sit ups. Then, I finish another set of a different exercise, and have to do the 20 + 20 again. It's awesome.
Yesterday, I had my cheat for this week: 1 Allmax chocolate marshmallow protein bar, and 1 Interactive Nutrition Low-carb protein bar. It was soooo good. My only problem is that I'm wondering if I can cheat this coming Saturday (there's a bb-ing expo and soooo many free samples...)
See, I started my diet last Saturday. So yesterday was my cheat between last Saturday and this Friday. So...do you guys this I can cheat this Saturday and that will be it between Sat and next fri?

Great news! My employer at www.powerpop.ca called me up yesterday and told me he volunteered my name. When I asked for what, he said, "To be on the physique screening panel for FAME". HOW COOL IS THAT?!?!
www.wowfame.com <--! It's a fitness and model expo that's going on all weekend in Toronto, and I just thought I was there to work the little protein popcorn booth for my company. But as it turns out, tomorrow and Friday I am part of a panel of judges that screens ALL the athletes (figure, fitness, bodybuilding, model) for drug use (it's an all-natural organization).
I am soooooooooooooooooo friggin' pumped. It's the experience of a lifetiem and a great networking oppotunity. WOOO!

Wow...yesterday was just..beyond my wildest dreams. It was like Charlie walking into the choclate factory for the first time. Everyone in the office knew who I was (because I'd competed with the organization on several occassions), and they all seem really please to see me. When the head judge walked into the building and took one look at me, he said, "Darling...Darling. You look...unbelievable!" The last time he saw me I was 100 lbs :( The other head judge asked if he could give me a hug. He told me that the first time he saw me on stage, he wanted to take me into his arms and give me a bottle, or feed me, or something. He was so scared and worried for me, he actually had tears in his eyes. It's really nice to know that all these people who are relatively important in the bodybuilding world had so much care and concern for me.
Anyway, after about half an hour of setting up, he said the President of the organization didn't want me screening anymore because I'm too young, and it may offend some of the veteran competitors to have a 19 year old judge their physique and determine whether they get sent home or not. This was fair, so though I was disappointed, I took it in stride. I got a to hand out t-shirts to the athletes. Meh.
Less than an hour later, the head judge comes to get me, because a lot of women have started coming and 2 men (judges) can't be in a room with one women (competitor) while she's half naked. Enter...J-ME! So I got to screen after all, and did a damn good job from 1 pm - 9.
I'm doing it again this morning, now that I've proved to them I know my **** :). I also walked away with 2 FAME t-shirts, 31 packages of PVL sample packs (Berry burst + coconut chocolate cream), 4 snack tins with tuna and mayo and lots of training journal.
YAY FOR DOING IT ALL AGAIN TODAY!!!!! I'm just sad that this weekend I can't train as often as I usually do or eat the way I'm supposed to because of the long stupid schedule. Oh well...onward and upward! :)

FAME was a huge success. There must have been tens of thousands of people that walked through that door. And I'm sorry to sound corny, but it was like fitness transcended all boundaries. There were black people, white people, asians, skinny people, fat people, guys, girls, a guy in a dress, in-season bodybuilders, off-season bodybuilders. And they were all just there to have a good time. It was an awesome atmosphere. Next year, I highly reccomend that y'all make the trek to Toronto for the most fun fitness weekend after the Olympia and the Arnold ;)
Training and dieting are going well with me, for the most part. I kinda lashed out at Nina on Friday because I took pics and didn't really see a change. Mayve I should have taken it in the morning before I had all my food :( Either way, she told me to have patience, because I am still 11 weeks away from my shoot and about 19-20 away from my comp...but after seeing all the athletes this weekend, I wanna be ripped now!!!!!!!!!!!
The one problem I have with my diet is that sometimes I get hungry in between meals, so I eat my next meal early. Then, by the time I need to have my last meal at 9 pm, there's no food left and I have to dig in to the food I planned for tomorrow. So then the next day I'm short a little food and it's like I'm always playing catch-up.
Any suggestions?
P.S. My stomach and legs are getting a little tighter...I wish I could see my back though..

Heck yes my dear friend! How are you?
Sorry I haven't been updating you guys lately. Stuff has been CRAZY HECTIC with school, work, friends and life in general.
Yesterday was father's day, which is pretty tough for my mom and I, but were managing. And I have a badminton exam (theory and practical) at 11:30, so I've been studying for that.
I'm seeing some progress with my trainer, but I'm not seeing the results as fast as I would like to. Maybe its just me being impatient. It's been 2.5 weeks. I wish there was a timeline of what I SHOULD look like after 2 weeks, then 3 weeks, then 4...etc. so I'd know whether I'm on target to reach my goal in time. My trainer has a few competitors at the CBBF World Qualifier (where I worked this weekend), and those women looked amazing. I wonder if they saw changes after their first 2 weeks with her.. :(
The one good thing I notice is that at night, before I go to bed, my abs are starting to show. Considering how much food I eat during the day, I think this is a really good thing! I told her this weekend that I officially want to do bodybuilding, not figure, so I think she has to readjust my plan a little to accomodate me...but that's what I'm payign her for, right? :)
Will update more consistantly. I miss you guys!

Hey y'all! Sorry, I've been superbusy with work (www.powerpop.ca), reading (random books *fiction*), posting on the forums ;), training others, and most importantly, psychologically and physically prepping myself for my next contest on October 27th. I've been dieting slowly, and in gradual stages
1) Before week 20 = Lower cals to maintenance - Eating any fod
2) 20 - 16 weeks = Cals at maintenance - Eating CLEAN food, 1 cheat day per week
3) 16-12 weeks out = Cals at maintenance - Same as above, but 1 cheat MEAL per week
4) 12 weeks out and beyond = Deficit of 500 cals per day, clean food, 1 cheat meal per week
I'm about 130 now, and looking to come in around 117-118 with 8-9% bf by the week before. I've cancelled teh photoshoot, because I decided to do another comp as well on November 24th, so rather than maintain my condition from Sept - Nov and risk sacrificing what I look like for the last contest, I'm just going to be ready for October, and do the photoshoot sometime between the 2 contests.

I started my EC stack yesterday. I've done a cycle once before, so I jumped right in to the 200mg caffeine/25 mg ephedrine. Yesterday was crazzzzzzzzzzzzzzy. I was so hyper. I cleaned my apartment 3 times! I couldn't sit still, and I was sweating like a mofo while doing my cardio.
I'm debating whether to do: 4 weeks on-4 weeks off, 2 weeks on-2 weeks off, or 4 weeks on-2 weeks (as per the lady at *****************.com suggested). Anyone care to way in? I'm only 2 days in, so it's not too late for anything.
I decided to take a week off from training, and just do 2 cardio sessions per day (morning and evening). I don't remember why I chose that, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. I'm 14 weeks out today (wooo!), and am tapering down my calories slowly. I've been averaging about 1850 the past couple of weeks, and it was around 1700 this week. Next week it'll be around 1400, and then from 12 weeks out, I'm thinking maybe 1200-1300 with one cheat day a week of around 2000-2500 calories.
P.S. I saw hairspray last night...HIGHLY RECCOMENDED ;)
P.P.S. I changed my sig, so #4 is now a link to my keto journal, not my other one. CUZ I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

O..m...g.. You Updated!?!?
Just for you baby ;)
Life is going well! I'm spending a lot of time with a fellow competitor (of the opposite sex), and it's nice to have someone that understands the ins and outs of the biz, am cardio, dieting hardcore and fish smell in an apartment. We also train at the same gym and life relatively close to each other (and Costco) which is awesome.
The EC is going well, for the most part. I don't know if anyone else has this, but the ephedrine is kinda having a laxative effect on me. I take EC at 6 and am doing cardio by 6:15am. By 6:45, I need a bathroom break and before 7:45, I'll usually need another one. Is this normal?
I've decided to jump into stage 4, 2 weeks earlier than anticipated. I figure that since I'm going for my pro card, I have to take this stuff really seriously and buckle down on my diet and training. SERIOUS BUSINESS YO! So that means roughly 1200 calories per day + cardio + training + EC. Don't worry, I won't die :)
I love you all, and any encouragement (like, "DON'T EAT THE ICE CREAM JUST CUZ IT'S SUGAR-FREE" and "DO YOUR FRIGGIN' CARDIO") will be much appreciated, so throw your $0.02 in any time ;)

Hey y'all! I got a cry for help here :( I know this sounds pathetic, but I really want to hear from all the keto-ers in my journal. I'm 14 weeks away from a contest, and I'm trying to be super pumped about it and super strict in my regimine, but sometime I fall through the crack (ironically, my one weakness is the product I sell for a living www.powerpop.ca).
It would help if there were like-minded people around (because most of my friends don't give a hoot about health or fitness) to encourage me. I know this sounds greedy, but I try my best to post answers to people questions on the main keto forums, and I don't do it to get something in return. But now, I'm just asking for people to write it my journal and make it a happenin' place, so I don't fall off the wagon altogether.
Thanks :) xoxo

About the EC- caffine and other stimulants have that effect on me too. I used to take adderall for tests and studying, and no joke 30 mins-1hr after I took it I HAD to have a restroom around or it was bad! Your body absorbs water through your intestinal tract, so when you take a stim like that, it causes a diuretic effect- thus the erm... bathroom issue.
Oh and I tried the leg ciruit you posted awhile back (I like it because I don't need a gym) - the one with mountain climbers etc. It was a killer! I only got through it 3 times. :o
Don't know much about contest prep. Although i have always been interested in them, I can't seem to drop body fat all that easily. I will try to keep up with your journal though! :)

Had a great 85 min cardio session this morning. 45 min on the elliptical, 40 min on the treadmill (walking at 3.7, no big deal). The company (ie. the other 6 am cardio people) are friggin' awesome to talk to and they make the time go by so much faster :)
I'm going to Buffalo, NY with my mommy tomorrow to Thursday night so I'm bringing a HUGE @$$ cooler with me. This is the first time my mom hasn't bugged me about restaurants and eating out. I think she's finally coming to terms with how much this contest means to me, and because I'm not starving myself or anything, she's also (REALLY) slowly coming to terms with my weight loss. Thought we still have a long way to go.
The weather's beautiful here in Toronto, so my training partner and I are giong to play tennis this afternoon, and then I'm training my best friend later, so I'll sneak in a workout sometime. I love keeping myself busy cuz it takaes my mind off food ;)

But I am going to have to give that up regardless b/c my leaner look doesn't pair well with the clothes. My boyfriend would love me to do a clean bulk, he much prefers Biel to Alba!

You will stay on the wagon or I'll have to send him over to kick your butt back on it.

Y'all will be happy to know that tomorrow is the first day of the new me. I'm going to Buffalo with my mom for 2 days, and then am returning home to be the head volunteer for NBA Hoop it up/3-on-3 in Toronto...WOOO! I'm going to be super busy and love it. I had 1 x 100 calorie bag of Powerpop today, but that's it. No more cheating on the diet, making excuses, eating too much quantity of food just because the quality is good...NONE OF THAT! I keep telling myself (with apologies to Anthony Robbins), "Nothing taste as good as HAVING ABS feels" ;) That's what I gotta remember next time the POWERPOP or sugar free ice cream is calling my name. I just have to say, "Heeeeeeeeeeeeeels no biatch. These are my abs we're talking about".
THIS IS MY PRO CARD PEOPLE! You betta reco'nize :) Kidding. You guys are the best thing to happen to me (sorry to get sappy), and I love the support that everyone gives each other on the boards.
Still taking time of from training, but going at the cardio like a rabid dog. I attack that shiznit!
El Pena - I don't know whether I'm more scared of you (with your crazy knowledge/credentials) or your karate kitty :) Thanks for the help

Back from Buffalo! Had a super awesome time with mums, and I bought tons of sugar cereals. I stayed on my diet, and brought all my food with me in the cooler. I only cheated once on a Lee Labrada Texas Pecan Pie Leanbody Gold bar. They don't have them in Canada, and I knew it wouldn't make the trip home if I stuck it in the truck, so I just ate it in Vitamin World, and then did hiit the next morning. I feel much better :)
I trained legs today, and it was fantabulous. I was also thinking long and hard these past couple of days about trying out for the Jewish National basketball team. I made it 4 years ago (as a 16 year old), and then 3 years ago and haven't tried out since. I think I still got game ;) it's just really raw at the moment because my muscle memory is all awry due to the weight training. But I played b-ball this morning as part of my cardio, and it only took about 20 min til I was hitting my J's like I was Kobe. I was a great feeling...

Sleep on you? But AZN, we barely know each other... ;)
Finished two INTENSE days of scorekeeping at NBA 3 on 3 downtown. It was HOT. HOT HOT HOT. I went from white chocolate to red (?) chocolate in a matter of hours. Two words y'all: SUN SCREEN! I needed it!
Anyway, today was the first day of stage 4 = cal deficit AND burning 500 cals per day, so I was around 1200 cals today. Surprisingly, I managed 1000 before I was full (6 meals of just chicken and broccoli). I'm going to have more later tonight. I'll probably have to start drinking more protein shakes too to get the cals in. Damn, protein is filling yo! Anyway, I'm tired and grumpy (but that's probably cuz of the sunstroke). We'll see how the diet treats me tomorrow.
I know 1200 may seem low, but my strategy is to OVER-diet, and then try my best to fill out the week of the show, rather than dieting really slowly and risk looking flat. Like, if I weight 115 3 months from now, then the last week, I'll carb load and get my weight up to 117-119 or so. We'll see how things play out. WOOO! CONTEST PREP BABY!!!

http://www.wowfame.com/agency/profile.asp?id=15014 <-- I think this is the woman who will be competing against me at the FAME Halloween Mayhem. She does bodybuilding, fitness and figure...veeeeery well rounded. Here's hoping she doesn't do bodybuilding for this comp...my new mantra is when I want to cheat, or want to skip my cardio is, "Would Lorayne do this?" I haven't actually had to use it yet, but I'm sure it will come in handy :)
I'm soooo excited. I'm almost 12 weeks out! Woo! My training is really hardcore now. I'm diong 4 supersets (8 exercises total) for each bodypart, and I'm doing 4 sets of 12 reps. It's intense and I break a sweat and I love it. I'm using weights 5x/week and cardio 6x/week. My friend said that Lorayne is a great bodybuilder, but if I were to get in better condition (ie. leaner) than her, I could take the overall. I think/know it's doable. It may just be a matter of upping the cardio a little earlier and taking out the carbs a little ealier.
But then again, she's 12 years older, so she was that much more experience and muscular maturity (but we're trying not to think about that...) :)

The first time I did it, I was in a caloric surplus. This time around, I'll be in a deficit. And I'll be trying it with siamesedream's theory about eating more quantity less frequently to reduce the amount of dietary ketones I use for energy and rely more on stored adipose tissue/liver ketones

My friends, I am 12 weeks out today. Feeling sooooooooooooooo good. I have lines in my stomach (I'm not going to call them abs just yet) in the morning, and my measurements (except for my waist, which got a little tigher) are the same as they were at the beginning of Stage 3, which means I haven't lost size. I am quite excited for the next 12 weeks. I have my meals/calories are planned out, as well as my training for the next 4 weeks.
I ran a mini posing seminar with one of my training partners yesterday, and I'll do another one with the other training partner tomorrow morning. They're super pumped about it, and yesterday, she started sweating, just from the posing. I told her, "Hunny, wait til there are 5 other girls on stage with you and you have to hold it for 20-30 seconds". She didn't look impressed.
I'm debating whether to tan in a box or not. I mean, I usually look good with just Pro-Tan, and I have built up a pretty good base just from chilling outside a lot. I guess we'll see in September.
P.S. My 20th birthday is in 26 days :)

I'm going to carb up at the end of every 14 days or so.
"His" theory was essentially that because you can't "store" protein the way you store fat and carbs and you excrete what you don't use, it makes more sense to eat 3 times a day so that in betwen the meals, you're using stored bodyfat for duel (adipose tissue) rather than feeding your body every 2-3 hours so that you're running on dietary ketones. Do you know what I mean? It makes sense to excrete the excess ketones and then run off bodyfat rather than keep feeding your body ketones so it never has to dip into bodyfat stores.

i thought protein never converts to ketones. only fat?? but then still either way, i still have to do a refeed to reset my leptin level.

11 weeks and 6 days...WHO'S EXCITED?!?! I'm really getting pumped. Everyday I wake up and the first thing on my mind is what I'm going to eat, when I'm going to train, how it's going to feel and how good I'm going to look ;). And it's the last thing I think about before I go to bed too...I think this is a good thing (or an obessive thing...hmm...).
Either way, I bought a boat-load of supplements off bodybuilding.com including 1.5 kg of a product called "Xtend" by Scivation. It's flavoured BCAA powder. For some reason, we don't get it in Canada (we don't get ANY flavoured BCAA powder here). I bought a lot of it because while I diet, I really REALLY don't want to lose the muscle that I worked so hard to put on. So if I sip BCAAs throughout the day, I will induce protein synthesis, and try my best not to go catabolic in between my meals. It comes in Lemonade, grape and watermelon flavour. High reccomended.
Anyway, I made a hardcore training plan for 5x/week. ALL supersets (!!!) and 4 sets of 12 reps. I've already done 3 out of 5 days and it's kicked my ass. I'm prioritizing my legs, then chest, then arms, shoulders and back.
i thought protein never converts to ketones. only fat?? but then still either way, i still have to do a refeed to reset my leptin level.
I know that protein can't turn into ketones; I think it turns into creatinine/urea/ammonia which is then excreted. The excess fat is what makes the ketones, you're correct. And hells ya with the carb up, I completely endorse that. What are your goals, btw?

one fact about bcaa. since its insulinogenic, you can use it to replace carbs as PWO insulin spike. at least thats what layne norton said.

I'm now obsessed with a new food called "Sludge". You combine 2 tbsp peanut butter, 1 scoop chocolate protein powder, and water to whatever consistency you like. If you want a pudding, don't add so much...if you want ice cream, add about 1/2 a cup and put the mixture in the freezer. VERY keto and competition diet friendly because you're getting you're healthy fats AND protein in. It's sooooooo good. And I just ordered VPX's Zero carb graham cracker flavoured protein, so I will now be having peanut butter/graham cracker sludge. Mmm...(I was using PVL's chocolate/peanut butter butter flavour before).
I'm up early cuz I have a tennis game at 7 :( I don't think I'm going to do this again as I had to eat before I play, and I really don't lke doing cardio on a full stomach. Today is no weights day, just cardio. So I'm gonna tear it up in the gym this afternoon and probably wear down the elliptical ;) I stop my first cycle of EC this wednesday, take 2-3 weeks off, then start again. It helped a little, but I think it would have been more effective if I was in a caloric deficit.
P.S. 11 weeks and 5 days!
P.P.S. The price of whey in Ontario (maybe it's all of Canada) because of an increase in the price of cow feed. Which means an increase in the price that farmer's charge people who buy dairy and whey. Which means an increase in the supplements canada.com prices. :( Which means a big order for J-ME on bodybuilding.com :)

Working out back with my best friend today. We're going to his gym which is sooooooo well equipped; they have really cool machines.
I'm very into tennis now. I'm trying to find peopel to play with because I'm borderline obsessed. I figure, everyone hates cardio, so if I make my cardio a sport, i.e. tennis or basketball, I'll end up doing it for longer, more intensely, with a friend, and it'll be super fun.
Dieting is hard. Hard and tough. And trying. Boo to dieting.

OMG SUCH A FUN DAY!!! I came back from my best friend's birthday at a pub at 2am this morning, so instead of going to the gym, I did cardio on my upright bike for the same amount of time (I missed my usual 6am crew at the gym, but enjoyed my sleep-in). Then I biked about 40 minutes away to have a killer workout with another friend at his gym (the one with the great facilities).
THEN, I bought protein at my favourite supplement store. THEN I came home, ate and went out with a good friend who I see once a week for a hardcore game of b-ball. We played from 5 - 8, then went out for coffee. It was awesome. I just finished waching an episode of scrubs and I'm off to bed.
I like having lots to do during the day because it takes my mind of the diet and training. My friends are really encouraging and supportive and happy that I still go out with them despite the strict regimine :) I heart friends!!

Goood afternoon everybody! I had a wonderful morning...uber busy as usual :)
Cardio --> Tennis --> Basketball --> Training myself --> Personal training
Wooo!! I have a question for the forums, and I need you guys to be honest with me. Basketball has always been my first love. I used to live and breathe it. Like, we're talking 3-4 hours a day, trained for it, ate for it, LIVED for it! I was pretty good too. Had I not gone to a private school no one's heard of, I might have been scouted. Then, after high school, I kinda fell off the wagon when bodybuilding and school became prioities. Anyway, I've been playing a lot recently, and I cn genuinely say that I'm getting the old feelings back.
I can play for 2 hours, and it will seem like 15 minutes. When I watch b-ball movies ("he got game"), I get goosebumps. That doesn't/never happened with bodybuilding. Maybe basketball always has been and always will be my calling.
So I'm thinking that after the next two contest, I might hang my posing trunks up, and put my sneaks back on ;) What do you guys think?

i was watching scrubs a couple days ago (which is an amazing show, btw) and JD (main character) said something very similar to this:
"even if you take a risk and fail, when you look back on it you'll be happy..."

I went to a "Boot camp" class last night around 6, and then shopped til late in the evening, so by the time I got home, I was uber pooped. This morning, I decided to forego the gym and just do the cardio on my bike watching "Malibu's most wanted" (cute movie).
Then, I took off for the gym to play ball for 1.5 hours and then lift weights. What I don't like are all the elderly people that walk on the gym floor (outside of the basketball boundaries) and get mad/give me the evil eye anytime I bounce the ball (which, for those of you who have never played b-ball before, is a necessity, lol). I don't know why they can't just walk on the track above...they have to be ON THE GYM FLOOR. ARG! Oh well, I respect that, and try and keep the noise to a minimum.
11 weeks, 5 days out. Woo! Slowly taking down the carbs. This past week didn't go as planned. I stuck with maintenance calories again, but cut out ALL junk food (eg. Sugar alcohols, protein bars, etc.). And I think my body liked it as my waist is looking a little leaner and I'm a bit more vascular.
Samk - Awesome quote. That's pretty much sums it up :) Thanks (and stop by more often ;))
AZN - Short and to the point :) I think I am going to go for it.

OK, so you know how when a begginer is first getting into exercise, what people tell them is to "Pick something they like to do, so they'll stick with it" - well, I have found out this doesn't just apply to beginngers. It applies to the advanced as well. You don't have to keep plugging away at the weights, switching up reps, sets, weights, etc. (unless that's what you like).
I have found my niche - basketball. Right now, at the stage I'm at, it's much better and more helpful than pushing heavy things could be. Today, I played 2 hours in the morning with my friend and some random (EXTREMELY TALL) cute Israelu guy; we just kept playing games up to 12. Then, when I got bored at 3, I took my bike to some outdoor courts near my apt and played pick up with some boys there (I hate not using my own ball), for another hour (it got too hot and I forgot water, otherwise I would have kept going).
I also found this AWESOME training/cardio plan for the off-season on bbing.com http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/paul3.htm --> So today was weights + plyometrics. There's no way I could spend 3 hours in the gym just lifting. But playing + plyo + training = PERFECT! And with the plyo/cardio stuff, I can already feel my legs and abs shredding ;) I heart sports! :)
P.S. I am now consistently taking flavoured BCAA powder...soo good!! http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/sv/xtend.html I bought the lemonade and the watermelon in the hopes of keeping my muscle mass while dieting.

G'Afternooon y'all! How are we doing? :) Today started out really well. I got an awesome sleep in, then had to jog 30 minutes as part of my b-ball plan, so jogged to the gym (closer than I thought, so I had to run aruond the parking lot like a loser for about 11 minutes), worked out for a while (cardio went by REALLY quickly because I had a friend to talk to), and then came home to eat.
I think that I'm just going to use my new basketball program to get into contest condition. I think it will work out really well. I'm going to eat and sleep like a bodybuilder, but train like a baller in the off-season (eg. focusing on conditioning and form/skills), rather than lifting heavy weights and stuff like that. Focusing on what I do OUTSIDE the weight-room, you know? I think it'll work out really well. And if it doesn't...well, at least I did what I love.
I'm off to a big fancy gym, the kind where EVERY SINGLE cardio machine has a high-def LCD TV attached to it :)
Just so you guys know what I'm going
CARDIO (weeks 1 - 6):
Day 1 = Plyometrics
Day 2 = Distance/endurance running
Day 3 = Sprints
Then 4 days where I do what I want at a low-mod intensity
TRAINING (weeks 1 - 6):
Monday - Push
Bench Press - 5x5
Military Press - 3x8
Lying Triceps Extension - 3x10
Wednesday - Pull
Power Clean - 5x5 (Can someone show me how to do these????)
Bent Row - 3x8
Close Grip Underhand Lat Pulldown - 2x10
EZ Bar Curl - 2x8
Barbell Shrug - 3x10
Friday - Legs
Jump Squat - 5x5
Stiff Legged Deadlift - 3x8
Standing Calf Raise - 3x12
Weighted Hanging Leg Raises - 3x12

What an uber fun weekend yo!
Friday = Got an average of 94% on my nutritionish exam (93% on the multiple choice part, 95% on the case study evaluating a ficticious woman's nutriton, physical activity and hollistic well-being). It was awesome! So I treated myself to a cheat at Yogen Fruz. Wooo!
Saturday = Worked out at the nicest fitness facility I've ever been to. It was so awesome. There were 2 rock climbing walls, 3 of every single machines, 2 separate rooms for free weights and a room that only had hydraulic machines. Wow. Just...wow.
Sunday = Slept it. Had a fun day mall-walking with a friend, then a relaxing evening in front of the boob tube with another friend.
+ A boat load of training on all three days. I didn't get a chance to do the basketball sprints yesterday because I wasn't at the basketball gym, so I'm going to do them today along with my push workout and some pick up b-ball. Should be good times.
Diet is blah and I hate dieting. The end.

Today I had a client who came 45 minutes late to our appt. I still got the $20 for 15 minutes of work though.
I played pick up for 2 hours today, then trained, then had my client.
Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun ALL DAY I have seminars and workshops for can-fit pro (the organization with whcih I'm certified). I signed up for every interesting looking and unique workshop, and am attending seminars mostly based on science-y stuff like the metabolism rather than something like stretching. Other than that, not much is going on. My stomach is getting tighter, and my legs are getting leaner and stronger (I LOVE PLYMETRICS!)

I cancelled BIG plans just for you my friend ;) Have no fear, I'm not an UBER b**** :)
So tomorrow I officially become a spinning instructor! I'm sooooo excited. I'm going to be spinning all day. Wooo! More credentials = more money for me, and maybe even a part time job subbing in at my gyms if the usual spinning instructor can't make it. That would be so awesome!
Training is going well. Basketball was cut short today because the day camp needed to use the gym, but that just meant more time on the weight room floor - no biggie. I also decided that next week, Monday - Friday, I'll be doing basketball camp (I have to fudge my age though...shhh). The older guy I usually play with in the mornings said I was as good as a lot of the women who were on the Denver University basketball team (he was on the men's team). It was flattering and frustraing at the same time; that, had I grown up in the states, I could have had athletic opportunities that I'm not afforded as a Canadian athlete. Oh well, no point dwelling on the past :)
Alright, I won't be around the journals for the next couple of days because of the personal trainers' seminars and workshops (on Saturday and Sunday I have 3 spin classes per day. Can you believe it?! Will I be alive afterwards??...let's hope so!) Wooo!!

Thank you so much heathershubby!
I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack! And I missed you all, but thought of you guys during my nutrition lectures. Well, here's what happened this weekend (Thurs - Sun):
12 spin classes
2 kickboxing classes
2 circuit training classes
3 lectures
And not one do I regret going to (I did miss basketball a little though). The whole thing was just the most enlightening, unbelievable experience, and I'm honestly counting down the days until next year's conference. But I return to you guys wiser, healthier, happyier and CERTIFIED AS A SPINNIN INSTRUCTOR! WOOOO!! Bring on the spin!! Most fun class ever y'all! If there's anything ever you need to ask me about, or if you're scared to try it, please message me. There's nothing to be scared of, I assure you.
In the meantime, contest prep is going well. And I'm starting basketball camp next week (had to lie about my age and say I was 17...they told me I was the oldest one at camp...imagine how I feel considering i'm 19!!)
WELCOME HOME EVERYBODY!

Thank you sooooo much girl :)
Today was day #1 of b-ball camp and it was friggin' awesome. It was like 3.5 hours straight of b-ball, then lunch for 1 hour, then b-ball again. I'm the oldest (I'm like a granny compared to the other kids), but I think they look up to me to a certain extent (I don't mean that in a cocky way at all). They ask me questions and I do my very best to help them. Because I want to, and because the more I practice my own fundamentals and teach them perfect form on stuff, the better I get.
Things are moving along nicely with my York boy...I think I mentioned him before...the dyslexic one... He's now back in kin, which I'm very happy about, and we see each other about once a week. He's really encouraging and was sooooooo proud of me when I told him about my certifications and stuff. It was nice. He went skydiving with his brother this past weekend, and said it was eye opening emotionally and physically. I'd love to do that some day. Also, also, also: My old crush FROM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL called me up today, and asked if I wanted to come watch his band play and have a couple (non-alcoholic) neverages with him tonight. How random? How awesome! Ah...boys...;) I love you guys!
I don't think I'll be lifting this week, as they 7 hours/day of cardio I know will take it's toll on me. We'll see though...I won't get stronger just playin' b-ball :)
P.S. I miss the can-fit pro weekend, lol
P.P.S. I'm going to the PVL warehouse on Thursday. AIN'T LIFE GRAND?!?! It doesn't get any better than this :)

B-ball camp is kicking my butt! I run and run and run and play from 9 - 12, have lunch, then play and play and play and run from 1 - 4. IT'S AWESOME! I think I may be able to make the walk-on team at York this year...which would be the bestest thing ever in the whole wide world.
So I haven't actually picked up a weight in a week and a half...but I don't think I'm atrophying or anything because I'm doing a lot of pushups at camp and drinking a **** ton of protein and amino acids. It's all good!
I don't know what else to update you guys on other than the fact that my b0day's in exactly a week, I visited the PVL warehouse today (About 45 lbs of protein was purchased for less than a third of the retail price) and life is grand. GRAND I SAY! Also, my bestest best friend in the world is coming from Nova Scotia to go to university in TORONTO. LEWIE!!!! 2 AND A HALF DAYS! Watch out world, here we come!

Well, b-ball camp ended on a great note. I got MVP because I won the skills competition, and I also won the award for the player with the most heart. Which is flattering considering I DID give it my all, and took the camp seriously although it was kind of ackward. Not to mention, my coach/councellor played for "our" university team two decades ago and says that she definitely sees potential in me and thinks I have what it takes. So I'm going to put 150% effort into my training and practicing for the tryouts which will probably take place at the beginning of September. I haven't quite figured out the perfect combo of cardio and resistance training, but I have all my b-ball drills down and know what parts of my game I need to work on.
Also, I had a bit of a revelation. After November 4th, I think I'll be giving up competitive bodybuilding. I won't give up resistance training, it's just that I've realized (with the help of others) that the sun doesn't rise and set on dieting and/or having abs. The world doesn't stop spinning on it's axis if I miss a meal or do more cardio than I should. LIFE CONTINUES if I eat ice cream 2 days in a row (the NOT fat free kind) and "forget" to train for a whole weekend. Really, it's not the end of the world. I want to enjoy life with my friends and family. I WILL NOT go catabolic just because I miss a meal to play a tennis game with a friend and don't eat extra calories to compensate.
In retrospect, with my dad being sick for my whole life, I took for granted just how short life is, and how little time (in the grand scheme of things) we have with our parents, who are our mentors, best friends, care givers, providers, therapists, chauffers, etc. In retrospect, I wish I skipped more training sessions to watch more movies with my dad in his room. In retrospect, I wish I had more cheat meals so that we could take him out of the house for a treat more often. And in retrospect, I wish I spent les time in the mirror flexing and posing and spent more time smiling and laughing in front of him. I miss my dad. F** do I miss him. I love you daddy.
CHEESE ALERT: "For all those times you stood by me. For all the truth that you made me see. For all the joy you brought to my life. For all the wrong that you made right, for all the dreams you made come true. For all the love I found in you. I'll be forever thankful...you're the one who helped me up, never made me fall. You're the one who saw me through, through it all."
(Sorry for that guys...I guess I just needed to rant...and couldn't do it audibly)

P.S. It took me a whole year to put the weight on, so I think it's unreasonable to expect myself to lose it in 12 weeks (hence the slacking on the diet, lol). I will lose it as another year passes, most likely.
P.P.S. I'm trying the Velocity diet (+ veggies). It's just easier than trying to make up a contest diet and I don't have the $$ to pay a professional contest diet maker.

WASSUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUP! Well, the best friend is officially settled in Toronto, and let me tell you, it's been 72 hours of non stop fun. The boy hasn't stopped drinking (I kid you not) since he got in. Every day, he's had AT LEAST a quart (roughly two pints) of an alcoholic beverage (mostly vodka straight up). Did I mention he's going into nutrition? lol, did I mention he's my best friend and I love him!!! We went out to a male strip club for my birthday yesterday (even though my bday is on thurs), and Lewie was the only one that got in because "Ladies' night" is Fri, Sat and Sun. So after being rejected, we decided to bar hop in Toronto's gay district (Fruitland) because Lewie wanted to see the boys (as did his friend and I).
Training is going well. I'm back to the weights, so I'm lifting a lot less than I did before I stopped a couple weeks ago....but it'll pick up. Apparently, there's a crack head who bought a membership at my gym and she's SLEEPING/ DOING LINES in the women's changeroom. On Sunday, she was there from 2 am - 8:30am. And yesterday, she was there from 11:40 Monday night until 7 am on Tuesday. I don't know what the manager of the club is gonna do. She's sooooooo weird.
I just calculated how much I got from PVL:
2 Boxes of Way2Good bars
10 boxes of no-carb chocolate pudding
14 x 340g of Whey Cooler
6 x 340g of Whey Gourmet
6 x 908g of Whey Gourmet
I LOVE PVL!!!! What a stash, eh? So it's almost too convenient to do the Velocity diet at this point, lol. I would be going through the protein a lot slower.
Weezy - So glad you joined the team. I lurk in your journal, but don't make a peep. YOU, however, can feel free to bombard me with input :)
AZN - I'm doing the velocity diet with some modifications (because I honestly know it's not so healthy for you).
I'm: a) Eating unlimited veggies (except for tomatoes, carrots, corn, etc.)
b) If I wake up in the middle of the night starving, I have keto foods (like cheese, chicken, peanut butter).
I have not found that either of these have significantly set me back

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday to J-ME, happy birthday to me! THE BIG 20! I'm 20 years old yo! This is the year I get married, get a job, become a real person...you know. Very scary. Maybe have a baby...who knows. I'm just excited. NEW DECADE!
I walked into the gym today, and right away the girl behind the counter played "hAPPY birthday" on the stereo TO THE WHOLE gym...then she played "Umbrella" because she knows that's my favourite song. I had her play it again, and then I announced my birthday to the gym, and the girl behind the counter announced it too. YAY! You betta reconize! :)
Today, I'm just chilling, running some errands, seeing some important friends. And I had no sugar, fat free ice cream because through the whole year, I've been talking about getting this cake for my birthday. The whole cake has virtually no calories and no REAL carbs because it's all sugar free fat free ice cream (10 cals per ounce), so my mom (not knowing I was on the velocity diet) bought my this $50 cake. I was a little sad because I know she was so proud of herself for buying it and remembering it was my favourite. So I said, "F^^^ you Velocity, just for 10 minutes" and I ate a piece of my birthday cake and I felt good. That's what I'm talking about when I say that life comes before diet, and diet can be put on hold when people's feelings and important things are on the line.
I got like 10000000 text messages between 12 am and 2pm, with a lot of facebook messages and msns too. I love my friends. Guys, keep your friends around. Don't be mean to them. If you think you're busy, and they ask you to get together, don't say, "I'll fit you in". Take the F***ing 2 hours out of your life to have a heart to heart with someone you haven't spoken to in a while. That's a test of friendship..putting yourself on hold when things are going rough for someone else.
I don't know why I'm so philosophical these last couple of days. I think it's because new people are coming into my life and other people are leaving, and everyone's teaching me something. Like my friend Lewie. Our relationship transcended the computer. We met online, and he took a risk visiting me in Toronto because he didn't know anyone else. But he took a chance on me, and I took one on him, and know we're inseperable. He taught me that friendship is worth more than money (he doesn't have a lot bought wanted to spend it on his trip here). And my new friend Devin (He's SUPER HOT, btw)...he's going to Kenya for a year to teach English and volunteer. He's putting his life, friends, family on hold for people he hasn't met because this is what he believes in. Wow. I'm seeing him tomorrow ;)

Oh man! I've been soooooooooooooooooooooooooo awesomely busy these last couple days. Helping Lewie (I LOVE YOU!) get adjusted, going to male strip clubs (two nights in a row----BEST TIME EVER). I know this sounds cheesy, but a lot of the guys are really down to earth. And there are a shocking number of straight guys that just dance for the gay guys because the guys pay them more than the girls....weird. They were really sweet and talked to me about themselves; I just I just sort of have the face that people feel comfortable. Even though they were naked, it wasn't ackward at all. They were telling me about what they do for a "real" living, where they went to school, their plans for the future - it was all really sweet. Mmm...
School starts on Wednesday....LOOKING VERY MUCH FORWARD TO GOING BACK! I'm such a nerd. But I miss the people, and the Tait Mackenzie gym, and the kinesiology and the people, the millions of Tim Hortons around campus, the insane cost of books, the people, etc. Third year is gonna be awesome - TWO MORE YEARS!
Contest prep is blah blah blah. It's going. But whatever! I've actually had the best best summer of my life. I couldn't care less if I have abs on stage (well, i care a little), but regardless, I had a blast!

I'm eating roughly 1500 - 2000 calories a day depending on how hungry I am. In terms of refeeds, every once in a while, I have my favourite fat-free sugar-free ice cream. About 150-300 calories worth :)

RANT: You know how when you were younger, you'd get home from school, all pissy an maybe crying to your parents saying, "(Insert name of bully here) said I was (insert mean insult)". And they would say, "Don't worry hunny, they're just jealous." And you would think you yourself about how wrong your parents are. Bullies aren't jealous of other people because their the toughest, most confident and the strongest ones out there. Well, I'm learning that's not true. This summer, I've had experiences with a couple of "friends" who made me realize this. I'm not an unhappy person. I'm not dark. I'm not mysterious. I don't get irritated easily. I'm a pretty pleasant, easy going, happy go lucky, fun girl. This bothers people. Holla if you can relate :) Anyway, this bothers some my friends. Why? Becausen they get agitated over the smallest little petty things, and start getting snarky around me. It bothers them that I can maintain my composure when things don't go my way and life throws me curve balls (OFTEN!). I don't know if it's maturity (to be able to handle myself) or immaturity (to now let things bother me), but either way, my friends get angry with me. They tell me things like; "You're too negative", "You complain too much", "You're unphased by important things".
I know these people are just projecting their own flaws and faults onto me. And when I take it in stride by saying, "OK, I'll try not to be negative" or "How do you expect me to react?" they get even more upset because their trying to push my buttons but it's not working. They also get upset because they HAVE TO try soooooo hard to project this perfect image that nothing bothers them, when in fact, they are bothered easily. Whereas with other, pleasant people, that happiness just comes naturally.
So I guess the point I'm trying to get across is that I know there are many of you on the keto boards who are like me. You're super fun to be around, people like to hang out with you, nice disposition. But then people try and bring you down. DON'T LET THEM! It's their insecurities and "walking on eggshells" personality they're trying to project. Don't stoop to their level.
I heart you guys :)

Hater's. That's all it is.
Some people are miserable and they want everyone else to be that way too. I try not to pay too much attention to people like that. You're young, so people are still pety and act like they are in high school. I think it gets better when you get older, but some people never change.
I'm pretty easy going myself. I try not to get bent out of shape about small stuff.

OK, so I realize that my keto log has become more like a diary than an actual training journal. SORRY! It's just that I have so much to talk about, and its not like my life is super boring. If my style is bothering anyone though...I apologize.
So...boy do I feel like a geek. I've been seeing this guy since August 27th. I think I mentioned him before...he looks like the main character on Prison Break *drool*. The sweetest one you can imagine; holding doors, pulling chairs, curses to a minimum, excellent dresser (for a straight guy), etc. He's just an overall awesome package. We've had about 4 dates so far, and there hasn't been a lull in coversation, he hasn't dominated the convo with talk about himself, he asks about me and what I'm doing quite frequently, and we have really similar interests. As though things couldn't get better, he also works at a hospital in the research department, VOLUNTEERS on an Emergency Medical Services vehicle AND works at an amphitheatre so he gets into all the concerts during the summer.
Anyway, we had dinner together (ie. he ate a cheeseburger I had a garden salad no dressing) yesterday from around 7:45 - 9:45. I think we were both beaming the whole time. When he drove me home, he told me he wanted to see me again really soon, and we gave each other a hug. Our noses were like half a foot apart. WE WERE SOOOO CLOSE, but there was no kiss. I don't know why I didn't do anything. I should have pulled in closer. I'm such an @$$. LOL! I know there will be many many many much more opportunities for that kind of stuff later. But the point is, I usually go to bed around 10-10:30...I couldn't fall asleep last night because the butterflies in my stomach and the thoughts in my head were going full force.
Just thought I'd share that little anecdote with my keto friends.
PS. I'm sorry I haven't been on the boards much, but I'm starting school today so there was tooooooooooooooooons I had to get ready. I'll try and be on more frequently (when I'm not at school).

Dumbell curl 25 x 12 x 3
ss Tricep kickbacks 25 x 12 x 3
Concentration curl 25 x 12 x 3
ss Overhead dumbell extension 40 x 12 x 3
Standing rope curl: I started with 90 lbs, did as many as I could, then right away went to 80...70...60...50...40...30...rested. Did this 3 times in total.
No super set --> Standing rope pushdown: 80 x 15 x 3
P.S. Meeting tonight with the coach and other walk-ons for the bball team. We have to get a physical and sign some papers. TOMORROW = TRYOUT with the recruits (first years) and people who are already on the team. I'm sooo nervous. Around 25 - 30 tryout and roughly 15 make it (but 11 from last year are pretty much guaranteed their spots).

You are absolutely right on. Thanks for that. *hugs*

It's not problem at all. i don't take pwo carbs formally. On the days that I chose to have ice cream, I have it right after a workout. That's the best I can give you. Sorry!
Awwwwwwwwwwwww........... how cute :)

Hello my daaaaaaaaaaahlings :)
Well, today is judgement day. And I need everyone to pray for me (to whichever deity you pray to). I got medical clearance yesterday from the athletic therapist and doctor of the b-ball team to try out today for Girls' varsity. It's only 1.5 hours, so I really have to knock their socks off. We're going to be doing a few drills for the first little bit, but then we're going to scrimmage...so I really have to OWN IT!
Wish us luck! I'll probably be on the boards later, and post my training for today, but in the meantime, I wanted to get this message out early so the praying can begin A.S.A.P., lol ;)
Lewie - I've added the pudding and the keto cookie (you'll find it in the recipe section) to my velocity diet, lol!!!
girl81 - Any advice for the tryout today??
Awwwwwwwwwwwww........... how cute :)
lol, I know...puppy love. But don't worry hun, there's still a place for you in my heart
You are absolutely right on. Thanks for that. *hugs*
Thank you! :) I am still a little weary of my decision because sometimes I think to myself, well, if I'm not staying ripped to compete, then what reason do I have...and I'm scared of getting the muffin top/love handle thing going on. But then I remember that I don't have to stay ripped ;) P.S. Did you get my e-mail?

Okay, that does it! Which one of you guys wasn't praying to the b-ball deities up there!?!? I'll find you...
Boy did the tryout kick my ass. Worse that any cardio session + leg day + hiit + contest diet peak weak all put together. It was just brutal. I cried at the end (literally. No, for real you guys...I cried!). I gave him 150% of my max heart rate, my best defense, my best offense, my best rebounding...EVERYTHING! And yet, I came away with nothing. Why? Because I'm not conditioned; "You can turn a runner into an athlete, but you can't turn an athlete into a runner". Ok, so what if I made 4 3-pointers, 18 out fo 20 foul shots, and blocked 3 shots (all of which I did). I CAN'T RUN! I was just as slow as the bigger girls when it came to the conditioning part.
We had to do this thing whereby we run 16 widths of the basketball court in under 60 seconds with only 1.5 minutes rest in between sets. HA! Good luck to me. Only 4 out of 18 girls made it! 4!!! I did 14.5 the first time, then 13, 12 and 9 for my last effort. THEN we scrimmaged for 45 minutes straight. I had nothing left in me. No carbs, no fat, no protein...I don't even know what I was using for fuel. I was actually quite embarassed. Granted I was the oldest one there who wasn't alredy on the team (the other girls were returning players and first year recruits), so I have that to consider, but I don't want to use it as an excuse.
If y'all think this is going to deter me from ballin' - THINK AGAIN! It just makes me want to play friggin' harder and get in better shape. I'm asking my marathon runner friend for a conditioning plan, and I'm gonna stick to it. So what if I didn't make the team, that doesn't mean I still can't improve my skill and try to be a great athlete!! :)
Girl - Great quote! Really hyped me up, thanks!
El Pena - Merci beaucoup!! :)

Hey Jaime. I have never commented in your log, and I don't even know if you have seen me in the nutrition/keto section. But I just read through your log, and was ABSOLUTELY CAPTIVATED by eveything about your journey since, what was it, May? You are a huge inspiration to me, and your honesty in your posts is extremely refreshing. I can't wait to read more of your updates!
I am leaving for college next sat, and if i can be half as dedicated as you have been, I will look like Jay Cutler in no time =D

Hi, my name is J-ME, and I'm addicted to male strippers. :)
OUTINGS: Okay, not actually, but last night was the 4th time I've gone since August 28th. I didn't actually go for myself, I went because a friend wanted to see someone who works there. That's not to say I didn't enjoy myself once I got there (because as we all know, I looooooooooooooove my boys), but it wasn't my idea this time. It's interesting; a lot of the strippers and bouncers are educated people with lots of intellectual things to say. But people just see them as big muscle men with big "parts" and small brains. NOT TRUE! The few that I've spoken to are educated at a university level, and some are even getting their M.A.s in their chosen field. So next time you see a stripper (male or female), don't just squeeze and grab and fondle. Think about the fact that there's a whole person there, mind AND body, and be gentle.
TRAINING: Working on some full body stuff right now. Trying to figure out an explosive power routine. It's tough because basketball is about power(strength + speed) in the lower body, but endurance in the upper body (constantly jumping up for reboudings, same motion to get ready for a shot, etc.). I know I could make myself a training program that revolves around this, but I'm just too darn lazy, lol. It'll happen....:)
DIET: Maybe it's because I'm young. Maybe its because I've manipulated my food choices so many times. Maybe it's because my body is finally surrendering. Either way, I'M GETTIN' LEANER ;) My friend and I discovered something about our bodies (and I'm sure this applies to others as well); when you reward your body with a break (from super hardcore training and super insane dieting), it rewards you back. The body is give and take. Give it what it wants, and you may see good things happen. Constantly push it to its limits, and it's going to shrivel up (or blow up) and turn on you. Lewie and I are kind of living by a "Let the chips fall where they may" type philosophy, and he's got abs, and my waist is smaller. We'll see how longs this lasts
I am leaving for college next sat, and if i can be half as dedicated as you have been, I will look like Jay Cutler in no time =D

Thank you so much for your compliments. Let me tell you bberdude, if you want to be dedicated, then college isn't a mountainous obstacle that you have to overcome. It's a 1/4" hurdle that needs to be stepped over. For example, my friend, when he came to Toronto. The first thing he did was NOT get his university identification card. He went to the gym (before it got busy) to buy a membership. It's those kinds of little things that show dedication and commitment. Keep me updated about your first year, I'd love to hear how it goes :) And thanks for stopping by. Do it more often!
I did, too :)
EDIT: when do you find out?
I found out about 5 minutes after the tryouts ended when he called 5 girls over to him. But thanks for the prayers anyway :) If anyone has an "in" with the deities of sport, it's you, lol!

Sorry I've been super busy everyone. You all know how back to school gets; CRAZY HECTIC YO! Anyway, there is much going on in the life of moi:
Boys: There is one, the "Prison Break" boy. We're together, but he's leaving for Kenya at the end of the month at which point we will no longer be together, but proceed to re-evaluate our situation upon his triumphant return to civilzation :) In the meantine, we're getting as much time together as we can, i.e. Going for Mexican food Monday night. Super fun stuff like that.
School: Courses are hard, but doable. That's what third year is about, right? I'm looking forward to the progression of difficulty though..challenges make me work harder. But also, this year, I didn't HAVE to take any particular courses, so everything I'm taking I WANT to be taking. Meaning I love all my courses. I lightened my course-load this year from a full 30 credits to 21 (+3 I took in the summer), so I anticipate I'll graduate in 5 years rather than 4. No biggy. I'm going to take my time and that way I'll have more time and energy to focus on each course rather than doing a full load half-assed.
Training: Going well. After the tryouts, I've been taking it a little easy on basketball, just shooting around and stuff with friends. No intense training like before. I will get back into it. I'm lifting again and it feels great. I made up a program and so far, so good. My tris are SHOT from arms yesterday, and I anticipate not being able to move tomorrow and (hopefully) the day after that because of legs today. Yum! ;)
Diet: Alright, here's where is gets shady. I dropped out of the bodybuilding show. Ya, you heard correctly. I'm not doing it anymore. It's weird, but I think the stress of having to manage my own diet and training and my cheerleaders' was a little to much and it was holding me back. So, I'm just going to do my own thing, but continue to cut. Like I said before, I'm giving myself a year to lose it. It took a year to gain it...so I can't expect to lose it in just 12 weeks. I'm going to be dedicated and strict, but still indulge every once in a while. It's just that now, there's no pressue (guaranteed NOW the weight is going to come off..lol...Murphy's Law, right?)
Whew, that's pretty much all that's going on in my life (in a nutshell). HOLLA!

Ok, so...arms hurt...legs hurt...chest hurts...shoulders hurt. DO(ES)MS (The "ES" stands for every single, lol). I guess that's what I get for taking 2 weeks off of lifting.
I trained with one of my cheerleaders yesterday and found out that, at 7 weeks out, she was eating chocolate...everyday. I didn't freak on her...a good trainer wouldn't do that. I just talked to her about why she was eating the chocolate (emotional, boredom, hates diet, etc.) and we came to a nice compromise. Her body is undergoing amazing changes because she's putting hard work in at the gym and her genetics. She's also following the diet I gave her pretty well. However, the other cheerleader is having some difficulties. She cheats a lot, then doesn't see any changes in her body, gets frustrated, cheat again. it's a vicious cycle and I don't know how to get her out of it.
Any advice??
Jked - Though I'm going to miss him tons, were spending as much time together as possible and then going our separate ways at the end. It was fun while it lasted :)
And yay for bringing coolers to extra curricular activities...if more people did that, obesity wouldn't be a problem. PROPS TO YOU!

Hey there boy lover,
I can't believe you took two weeks off from lifting! I take a day off and I feel lazy and I personally love the pain the next day. Some people think that is wrong but hey it signals growth so who cares what they think. They'll never get that burn from lifting their beer every night.
For the cheerleader I suggest you stress to her that she isn't seeing changes because of those cheats. Her mind needs to be in control of her hunger just as much as her stomach. Maybe tell her to ask herself what is going to feel better, that cheat meal or reaching a goal? And from your experience and mine you can tell her its the goal, hopefully she comes to that conclusion on her.
Have a good weekend, wish me luck on my 1st carb up!

So yesterday I went out to a vegan restaurant tonight for one of my cheerleaders' b-day. We did grass shots. Literally pureed grass (from the groung) in a shot glass. Weird? I think so. Fun? HELLLLLLLLLLLS YA! I should have (but didn't) tell the girls I wasn't competing in the Windsor/Toronto shows...oops. There will be other opportunities. Supa fun!
I recently signed on another client (yay!), but she trains at 5:15 am...which means I'll now be training at 5:15 am. Oh well. She's paying well, so I'm pretty happy. We'll be training 5 days a week...with the eventual goal of her doing a Master's competition sometime in the spring of next year. I think that's a niche I want to get into; helping people with competiton prep. It's a small but lucrative market...and I think I can tap that ;)
Diet's going well...just enjoying food, life and TONS of veggies and diet soda :)

Whoa now, don't get me wrong. It's not like I was a sedentary laz-y-boy during those two weeks. I worked HARDCORE on my conditioning to get in great shape for basketball. So there was much cardio and plyometrics involved and basketball scrimmaring/drills (obviously, lol). Just no intense lifting. ;)
I'll talk to the cheerleader soon, and find out what's going on in that brain of hers and see what's up. We'll figure it out. :) That's what trainers are there for, right?

I'm as fickle as a fish yo!
OK, so there I was, talking to me client this morning (5am!!!) about my plans for the future and what I want to do with my life and blah blah blah. I realized that if I'm going to be one of those famous trainers on shows like The Biggest Loser/X-weighted, I gotta look the part. I gotta get my abs and quads back! The 6-pack will be mine again.
So, I've decided to TRAIN/DIET like I'm competing, but not enter a competition. I also made a bunch of my close friends promise that if I get pissy, controlling, OCD, etc. during the prep, they're allowed to smack me and force me to eat carbs :) Anyway, I think this is a happy medium between competitive bodybuilding and not doing anything.
For my diet, I've decided to go with one I've heard a lot about: The Cut Diet/ Game Over. I've done a lot of reading (e-books, logs, threads, talking with people) and I think this is the most compatible with my lifestyle and preferences. So I will be part of Team Scivation soon (for a small fee of course). But apparently, I get access to their products like Xtend, WPI substance protein, Dialene, etc. I'm excited. I know they do good work, and I'm super excited. I already packed my food for tomorrow, and I'm super psyched to start the rest of my life. If it takes a year, then so be it. I got all the time in the world baby (but I hope it doesn't take that long...).
As for training, I came up with a 5 day split plan, but the Cut Diet has it's own. I'll compare them, and see what my (online) trainer thinks of MY plan in terms of its compatibility with the Cut. Wooo-ee! Je suis tres excitee!
hugs and kisses yall!

You get a big tub of Xtend and a tub of Vasocharge each month you are part of the Team, they discontinued Substance WPI. You also get a custom workout plan and diet based on your individual goals that is not necessarily identical to the one in the books.

I did the cut diet last year and lost about 35 lbs and 5% bf in 16 weeks. I've considered joining team scivation since I'm a fan of the principles of the cut diet and Xtend, not so much the vasocharge, but haven't due to financial issues, I'm a complete broke ass :p, unfortunately school doesn't leave much time to work. I'm leaning heavily towards joining next year to get help for my first contest prep since I don't have any experience with that, and by then I'll be state licensed and working so I will be able to afford it :D.
They announced the change in either the company promo or Derek's section regarding the supplements you get with the plan when Substance was discontinued. They have a couple of cut diets, and a few bulking diets so the plan you get depends on what you are looking to do, I think they also take into account phenotypes but I'm not certain on that one.

You are right, they take into consideration every little detail about you. They ask you a lot of questions to learn your case. Then they formulate the diet and training around your needs and phenotype etc. Then they tweak things when needed to get best results. Very very good team to be apart of

TEAM SCIVATION BABY! What does it mean to me? Energy, Endurance, Strength, lean mass, shredded, friends, encouragement. The people are so nice, they remind me of you guys. Very supportive, welcoming, etc. You guys should meet. A giant keto + TS party :)
The plan I was put on is called Cut Diet 2000. It consists mostly of protin powder, chicken breast, almond/peanut butter and green beans.
70g fat, 245g protein and 90g incidental carbs from the veggies and almond butter (p.s. i think I like almond butter more than peanut butter now...mmm...). I eat every 2.5 - 3 hours. No REAL pwo shake. I have a meal consisting of chicken, 2 tbsp of almond butter and 1 cup of green beans.
My goal is to be around SHREDDED. LIKE...MY QUADS CAN CUT THROUGH PAPER SHREDDED!!!! :)
The training plan is also rediculous. Man, I love life.

So I'm officially a spinning instructor two days a week at my university's gym. I'm getting paid handsomely (more $$ for Scivation products!) which is awesome!!!
Not realy looking forward to fasting tonight at 6 til tomorrow at 8. Missing out on all those good Cut Diet foods . Not to mention, tomorrow is supposed to be arm day - NOT COOL! I don't know whether I should just do the workout in the morning while I have the energy, or delay it to Sunday (which is supposed to be my day off). Man, this holiday is messing up my sched!
If it was last year, I wouldn't have fasted while on the Cut Diet, but this year, I lost my father in a house fire, and feel I owe it to him to carry on our tradition; even if it's something small like fasting for a day, I feel it's giving him the respect he deserves and living his legacy (he was really spiritual, but not so religious).

Best feeling in the world (according to moi): Biking on the street, early on a Sunday morning, when barely anyone is out. The sun is shining but it's not too hot, and you just made an UBER cool playlist for your ipod. Since I became a Spinning Instrutor, I now have this "curse" that whenever I hear a song, I always (subconsciously) associate it with a Spinning move. It's weird, but kind of fun at the same time. So I took a playlist of my favourite songs that was about an hour in length, took my bike outside, and did an outdoor Spinning class It was awesome! Average HR = 130, Max = 176.Wooo!!
Just hope I'm not dead for tomorrow's Spinning class...Intervals! Dum dum dum.....Ya, right...this is the Energizer bunny we're talking about
P.S. Not so happy with the Olympia results. I think Dennis Wolfe should've placed A LOT higher, he has made such huge improvements, as has Victor. I also would've made Jay second. He shouldn't be rewarded for the fact that he brought THE EXACT SAME PACKAGE to this year's Olympia as he did to last year's. Victor, Jay, Wolfe, Ronnie, Jackson.

Jaime the pictures look GREAT!! Not a bad starting point at all, you know considering most people would be content with that as their finishing point ;)
Had a great time with ya last night, and I'll do you up a techno playlist ASAP after my mid-term! xoxox love ya!

Figured I'd start this bad boy up again now that I'm posting in the keto section.
I'll be competing in a little over 10 weeks at the FAME World Championships in Toronto. Hopefully, I'll be a ligthweight by then. If not, I'll be doing heavyweight women's Open and Juniors category.
I'm doing the Scivation Cut Diet (it's a contest prep diet), with one carb meal of 105g every 4 days to help out my thyroid (I've had problems in the past).
I was so excited about my carbs tonight, and my weight (it's gone down about 10 pounds in 13 adys), and my training and my life!!! I just killed it in the gym today!

Today was my day off. Just a NEAT day. I walked with my friend for an hour and 6 minutes; heart rate about 106.
My goal is to lose about 2 pounds a week. That's the plan that my trainers and I would like a lot.
I have so much pent up energy from today! Tomorrow I'm going to kill it with Upper body day #2...YEAH BUDDY!

Jay wasn't huge, but this is his leanest offseason in history. I think he's trying to bring a new package this year. He needs it if he wants to redeem himself.
I was 4% for about a year, and I think 7% is very doable with Scivation. I just gotta keep thinking thin, lol...and positively. The date is June 14th.

Just subbed to your thread!!! I'm excited to start following your progress! From your pics I've already seen improvement! Congrats girl!!! Also, I read your bio! Amazing stuff. Your history is so much like mine its unreal! Except when I got married and pregnant Iwent COE on myself...So now I have the mentality of ANA and the habits of COE...not a great combo. Doing the cut diet with Marc right now! Fingers crossed! Already lost about 7lbs in a healthy way! Never done that before!!!

Hey Leyendecker!
I don't know whether you meant subbed to THIS log or the one in Derek's section. I would go to the Scivation one, I use it more frequently :) We'll talk there...I'm glad there's someone else out there who can understand my story

I know this is like the 3rd in carnation, lol...but I REALLY REALLY need the encouragement :o I'm sssslllloooooowwwwlllllyyyy cutting now. Gonna be S-H-R-E-D-D-E-D by September.
Like, "Look Ma! A walking anatomy chart!" shredded :D
Two great things happened yesterday:
1) I walked into the univerity gym today to talk with a couple of my friends before class, and my friend came up really eager and said, "Oh! You came on time! Yay"...I completely forgot I was supposed to train her (pro bono) this morning. Luckily, I found something on the internet that morning that I looooooved and brought it to show my fitness staff friend. As it turns out, I ended up doing the workout with her. How could I turn down an awesome workout?? She was so happy with it. My goal with her is to "cure" her asthma by the end of the summer through exercise and a clean diet. Here's what we did today (time trial):
50 Prisoner Squats
50 Pushups
25 Jumps
25 Stability Ball Leg Curls
50 Stability Ball Jackknifes
50 Step-ups (25 reps per side)
25 Pull-ups (NO substitutions)
50 Forward Lunges (25 reps per side)
50 Close-grip Pushups
50 Rack face pulls
50 Squats
25 Chin-ups (NO substitutions)
2) One of the guys who was at my friend Joey's show came up to me yesterday at the gym. I didn't even know we worked out at the same place. Anyway, we got to talking about the competiton, and what I do for a living, and how I trained Joey, etc. and eventually, after about 20 minuets on the bike just talking, he asked me if I would prep him for a comp July 12th. HEEEELLLS YEAH! I may post a couple of pics. This guy is H-A-W-T!
The guys said to me: "I think with your diet and positive attitude this will be my time to get on stage. :)"

had a training partner again today! Wooo! My CFL team cheerleader. it was super fun. It's a shame that because we can only workout Tuesday and Thursdays together, we'll only ever get to do shoulders and back. Oh well, it'll still be fun and challenging.
Inspirational story of the day - For those times you don't wanna go to the gym: One of my good friends (throughout high school and university) was hit by a car two summers ago. It was a baaaaad accident. She was really depressed for a while, but 4 months later, she was back in university with me taking courses, and she started driving last September (she still can't move her legs). Anyway, last week, she told me she's been taking TENNIS lessons for a month now, and really wants to play with me! HOW AMAZING IS THIS GIRL! So we're going to try and set up a couple of games next week when we're both free. I'm so excited!
WEEK 5

35 x 8 <-- New PR for weight!!

Had a little accident on these ^^ :( The 75s are too heavy to hold in one hand, so I actually ended up throwing myself over the dumbell rack by accident when I tried to re-rack the weights. Shoulder/ribs are in much pain.
Post workout cardio = 30 minutes bike
