Hi, Im getting my tits done soon and just wondering how long should you rest before training again (I don't want to do any damage). I have a friend who is a personal trainer and she has had implants put in 2 weeks ago and is already teaching spin classes and doing other cardio. Is this too soon?
And how long should you wait before weight training? I like to train heavy.
I'll miss the gym but it will be worth it!!
I appreciate any advice

I got my boobs done on April 25th about 3 weeks ago, Ive already been to the gym a few times, well just for cardio only. Im way too paranoid of hurting my self if i do any upper body. t really just depends on your size right now, how big your going and if your going under the muscle. I would suggest not doing any kind of upper body for atleast a month and a half with heavy weights. and no chest for a couple months. Ive heard horror stories. Good luck though, remember every woman is different and we all heal differently. Youll know when its time to get back into your rountine. Hope this helps.

A month and a half is too soon! You need to ask you doctor what he or she thinks. Everyone is different. I have heard waiting 3 months!!!

Have you had any consultations with plastic surgeons?? I've been on 3 consults, and I ask a whole list of questions, that being one of them, of every doctor.
If you haven't gone on any yet, just schedule some and get ALL the facts straight from the doc!

It all depends on the type of boob job you get. I had heard about the TUBA method (inserted through the belly button) which is least invasive and minimal pain.
The day after getting them I could have done pushups with no problem whatsoever. I had over the muscle as I weight train. I am totally satisfied with them and they have caused no problems of any kind.

It can be painful to lift things, so weights can be tough. Also, running and jogging can be painful at first with the jiggling (for lack of a better term).
Best thing is to listen to the dr., move slowly and go with what is comfortable for you.
If it hurts to do, don't do it.

Depends on a lot of things - where is the implant being placed? On top, underneath or subfacial to he muscle? Mine are subfacial, and I did not hit cardio at the gym until around 3 weeks post op - then it was light cardio, I coulnd not lift weights until after my 6 week check-up from the doc...he then proceeded to tell me to do what I felt best with - that if it hurt, then don't do it - listen to your body. All in all - listen to your doc...he is knowledgeable, and the one you chose to perform the surgery.
When I got mine done, I wasn't even allowed to drive for 2 weeks, so I'm pretty sure doing cardio is not a good idea that soon. I was told not to do heavy exercising for I think 2 months. Mine are under the muscle. It's much better to err on the side of caution than ruin the work (that costed you thousands of bucks) because you were too impatient.

Certainly agreed...

Do you have yours over the muscle because of your weightlifting? I'm having mine done next month and my doctor firmly believe I should go under the muscle, but i think that with the lifting I should be over?

Check out my body blog. http://blog.bodybuilding.com/abcreations I had mine done on April 12th. I have completly documented everything. You need to click on the thread that says Breast Augmentation on the left in the blog bar. I even have pictures but I have posted them on my private site. I share some pretty personal stuff. Things that you wouldn't even think of. I wanted everyone to know what I went through so they could make an educated choice. If you have any questions after reading you can PM me and I will respond back and try to answer all of your questions.

ASK YOUR DOCTOR. Forums are great and all, but when it comes to advice regarding a MEDICAL PROCEDURE, please ask your physician rather than relying on internet bulletin boards. Everyone is different, and your plastic surgeon will have his own way of doing things, tailored to the procedure he uses and his knowledge of your body.

I would love a boob job! :( But alas, you really want to look for a reknown, respected doctor - and generally they charge the most...not something I can pocket at the moment. Good luck on your search though.

Thanks for all the advice, it gave me loads of questions to ask my consultant! Everybody seems to have had a positive experience after their operation because they listened to their body - I suppose all the horror stories happen to the stupid people! Can't wait to get it done now and im even looking forward to a break from training.

Mine are subfacial - not under the muscle, but under the layer of skin that is on top of the muscle: you can go to: http://www.baxterplasticsurgery.com/ and see the difference between the different placements. I chose this placement because of bodybuilding. This allows for the muscle to show nicely, but does not allow for the implant to show as much as it would just placing it on top of the muscle. The subfacia hold the implant tight to the muscle, and covers the implant so the edges are not as noticible with such extreme low BF. Dr. Baxter (on the website) is a highly regardes physician/surgeon who specializes in bodybuilders.

I completely agree with this Cherry - ANYONE who is interested in such a procedure, and a costly one at that should indeed consult numerous physicians, and make sure their decision is based on what is agreed on by you and your physician. This is not something to be taken lightly, and you are right EVERYONE is different...just like with what works for nutrition for one may not work for another...you have to do what is right for you, andrealize that you are not going to respond to the surgery in the same manner as i did. Good post.

If given the chance...would those of you who have had breast augmentation choose to do it knowing what you know now? would you do anything differently

i love mine, and don't regret it at all.
everyone here has given great advice, so i don't think that there is much more to add. i was in in the gym doing light cardio 6 days after and i have under the muscle implants. i didn't start with weights again until the soreness was completely gone, which about 2 months, even then i waited several months later before i did any chest excercises. i'm still wary of working them too hard since i know that they are under the muscle. i tried to do a search here about that. can anyone point me in the direction of some threads discussing how to lift for your chest when you have under the muscle implants?
i mean, i know hard and heavy is the way to go, but what about the chest if you have implants?
