Hey Guys, I have a dilemma. How or what is the best way for me to cut my music? I have 90 seconds and can use a CD for the show. Contest in 7 weeks, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

gday Androman.. righto, the best way to get your music cut, is to go to a place which does it professionally. i use a place called pro copy, but im in Australia, which aint any good to you. these guys are a business who cut music for all sorts of stage, and dance productions, and record and make multiple copies of music cds for bands as well as video/dvd, and a whole other host of things. so a 90 second routine (which is normal at amateur level) will be a piece of cake for them, so this is the sort of recording business youre looking for. you may hafta search the web for something in your area, and from my experience youll be paying anywhere from $30 - $50 - but trust me, its well worth it. you should get a backup cd or 2 included in that price also. your thread doesnt mention if you need help or ideas with songs or poses - you may have something already picked out. if however you dont, and are a little stuck, let me know and ill help out as best i can. ive helped lotsa guys with their music and routines, and have an idea of what does and doesnt work. best of luck, hope ive been of some help..

Actually I was thinking of using Linkin Park's "Lying to you" song. Are there any other ways of making a cut myself using my CD burner??

would be pretty tricky - you actually need the editing software. if youre not bad on the computer, and can find somewhere to download some music editing software thats user frienly, you could be in luck. i havnt found much though, although ive only had a half hearted look. i will say though, when ive seen the proffessional dudes do it, it looks pretty tricky - theres graphs and waves everywhere! too tricky for me, but hey, you mite be up to it. if this is outta the question for you, another option is to use a tape - record your cd onto a cassette, and some players have a fading mechanism, where you can 'fade out' the song youre recording. 'lying from you' is a good song choice - i checked it for ya, and from start to the end of the first chorus is about 1 minute 15 secs which is good - comes in a tad under the 90 second mark. if you can find a player that fades songs, that could definately be an option...

That's what I was thinking, it has a nice start to it, thanks a lot for the advice. I wonder if anyone else out there has had any success or found a way of making the CD on the computer, I would love to hear other's experience.

I used a program called All Editor 2.4.3 that I picked up off download.com. It allows you to edit mp3s. Then I just burned the edited song to a CD as all 20 tracks so I could use the disc to practice my routine and help prevent someone from picking the wrong song when it came to contest time. :)

Get a digital copy of the song and use a program like All Editor (free trial download at www.download.com) to edit and save the mp3 the way you want it for your show.
Then burn an audio CD with that track for 10-15 tracks so you can practice your posing and prevent the DJ from using the wrong song at your show. :D
I made my routine fool proof by having it as the only track for all 10 tracks. :)

I'll look for the software at that site and see if I can do it, thanks guys. So this software will allow me to cut the song down where I need it to be??
