Hi,
My names Jess and I have been interested in fitness for a couple years now. I have went and watched a couple figure and fitness competitions and thinks it awesome what the girls have done and do. I have been reading Oxygen Mag and got the journal by Kary Odiatu called Competing with Class. It is great!! I look forward to just doing an amateur competition because that would be a big obsticale due to my shyness. So I like the challenge of that and getting in shape more!
I am trying to get my finances straight though with the cost in preparing for my first figure show. When watching the competitions the number one thing the girls said was they couldn't of done it without their trainers, nutritionist, family and friends. I got the family and friends but the other two aren't cheap.
= I was wanting to know what the average cost was spent on trainers?
=How many times a week with a trainer do you need to go to prepare?
=How much are the outfits and suits?
=What kind of supplements would help? I go through a big thing of whey protein every month. When preparing, how much more would I need ya think? I also take a multi and oil pills.
It seems like when I get good on my diet and schedule, food cost me a fortune! Plus the protein bars I get,ect
Any help would be greatly appreicated!!
Jess :)

Hey Jess. Congrats on your decision to start competing. This will be my first competition in June for figure so I know where you're coming from. Here is a list of what I have paid so far:

1. Trainer to diet me - $535 for 4 months of dieting before the competition

2. Suits - $120 for the 2 pc black plain bikini & $150 for the 1pc velvet suit that are both custom made.

3. Shoes - depending on the style, but I still have to buy black & clear ones.

4. Tanning creams etc - $100 total for Protan, bikini bite & Dream tan

5. Tanning booth - depends on where you go

6. I can have a trainer for weights etc & she is $65 each visit but I just work out on my own to save some extra cash.

7. Registration for the competition, $50 or depending on where you go

8. Hotel for the event - $70 special rate for the nite

9. Photographer - $300

Thats about all I can think of for expenses. Of course it will be more if you get your hair & makeup done professionally. I chose to get a photographers because I know I would regret it if I didn't get a pic of when I was in the best shape of my life. It's worth it for sure!!

Good luck with everythin & I hope I helped a little.

Take care,
Erin
