Hey Derek, this section is pretty cool.

Anyway, how do you stay motivated. Im pretty def up right now. I was cutting for a little bit and I lost 11 punds since my last checkup..I havent been bb a year yet..but the doctor kept saying not to lose any more and I still have fat around my midsection and I cant see definition in my back yet.

Its pretty hard to stay motivated, especially for me cuz I have gyno and nothing I do can make it better. Im getting the surgery in August.

Im just wondering what you do to stay motivated to go workout and eat right.

Thanks in advance

Like everyone else, I've had high and low times. There have been times where I question what I am doing; Is it really worth it? I have also been through times where it seems like nothing is going right in all aspects of my life. There have been times where I hav been sick and tired on eating clean and preparing meals advance, etc. But I still seem to wake up everyday at 5:30 AM and head to the gym. How?

My main motivation is the friends who support me online (some of whom I have met in person, others I haven't). They have all been through what I have and are always there to give me a boost. The encouragement I get from this section helps. If you don't have support, bbing is very hard.

Most importantly though is ones inner drive. If you cannot motivate yourself, no matter what is going on or who is supporting you, things will be rough. Bodybuilding is not easy. It is a long-term sport/lifestyle. YOU have to want to succeed and not for anyone but YOURSELF. YOU have to eat the foods; YOU have to lift the weights; YOU have to have the desire to excel.

If you don't want it bad enough, you won't get it.

I think going to the gym is the easy part. The hard part is keeping up with your diet, getting in the 6 or 7 quality meals a day. Its especially difficult when you don't have much time and dont make much money as a college student. I havent eaten right before and have watched my progress come to a dead halt and start to decline. Its very discouraging when you reach that point. BBing really is all about dedication.

the best way to stay motivated is to keep making gains towards whatever goal youre trying to achieve. Diet is probably the most important thing to ensure that this happens.

Very true. It is so easy to stray off a diet. But one cannot let bodybuilding take negatively away from their life or it will just lead to less motivation. Balance is key.

pictures help me stay motivated while I am dieting. This is one of the main pictures I look at when I am tempted to quit my diet. I hope it doesn't seem like I'm kissing derek's ass, there's just something about that pic that makes me want to stay focused.

Thanks buddy. Here is a pic a week out from my first contest of last year. Sadly I do not have many pics from before my second contest of the year when I was in better condition.
