Hi everyone, I am new to this site (1st post).
I am 32. When I was in my early-mid twenties, I used to weight train quite a bit. I lost interest, drifted away from keeping in shape and - to cut a long story short - ended up weighing almost 19 stones. I looked like Mr Blobby.
In 2002 I decided enough was enough, and used a combination of general fitness training (not weights) and dieting to get down to 13 stones by last xmas, at which point I fitted into 34" jeans. As you can imagine, I looked a different person from before.
For the last four months I have been weight-training using a good system that works well for me. I would say that the intensity is quite high, and all muscle groups are trained twice a week in my six-day on, one day off routine. I am not interested in competitions of any kind, I just wanted to get "into shape" and right now I am very close to what I set out to achieve (not compared to most of you guys on here, but compared to when I was a 19 stone blob). Of course, I am going to carry on training.
In addition to my training, I have been sticking to a complex carb/high protein diet, eating 25-40 grams of protein every 2 hours, quite often in the form of shakes and amino tablets.
When I started all this, before xmas, I fitted into 34" jeans. Four months on, I now fit into 30" jeans. I have become stronger in all exercises, and am half a stone lighter at 12 and a half stones.
My question is this; can anybody give me a very rough guess how much bodyfat I have shed during the last four months ? The scales tell me that I am seven pounds lighter, but I have also been training hard and eating 25-40grams of protein every couple of hours. When I was just doing the general fitness and dieting, it was easy to work out how much weight I had lost, because the scales told me. Since I have been weight training, the weight loss has not been as rapid yet I seem to have become a lot more slimmer even though the scales say I am half a stone lighter.
I realise that I am asking a pretty vague question here, but I am basically just hoping that other people may have had similar experiences ! It's just to satisfy my curiosity really. When I wore 38" jeans, I had to shed two stones of fat before I could fit into 34" jeans. I now wear 30" jeans yet, according to the scales, I am only half a stone lighter since just before xmas. It seems like I have lost quite a bit more than that. I haven't the foggiest idea how much muscle you can put on in four months, I don't take any other supplements, just lots of protein every 2 hours and, like I said, a pretty hard training routine that has certainly produced results for me.
I look forward to getting some responses on here !
