Actually, I like Dream Tan 2 over the Mystic tan, works like a charm!

Dream tan hands down. I have used Pro Tan, and many others, nothing works on stage like dream tan.

I've heard that many judges don't like Dream Tan. If someone can post a pic of someone wearing Pro Tan, and someone wearing Jan Tana, I'm curious to see the difference.

I personally like several base coats of Pro Tan followed by a coat
of Dream Tan the day of the show. Make sure that your skin is
as clean and oil free as possible before applying any tanning
dye. This will help prevent streaking. I put on a coat of Pro Tan
every night for 3-5 nights prior to contest day. The day of the show, I put on Dream tan as soon as I can so it can absorb into
the skin a little. Then prior to going out on stage, if I need a little touching up I will do that after getting pumped up backstage.
Fitness competitors may not want to use Dream Tan since it does tend to rub off. For the night show if you have been careful you should only need a slight touch up before going out on stage. The Jan Tana looks darker than any other product I've used but it does run when you perspire. Brown streaks on your body are not what the judges are looking for but I would recommend trying it.
Everyone's skin is different and what works for one person may or may not work for another but for myself and all the people I do contest prep for the Pro Tan/Dream Tan combination has been the best so far.

Jelena,
Do the pro tan. You have nothing to hide (flaws) so you don't need the dream tan. It has too much gold in it for you. Do three coats of the protan on Friday and one coat Saturday morning. Use the pro tan oil after the last coat dries and put on your warmup. It will look perfect on stage. Use a hairdryer between coats of the pro tan and put on loose pajamas for sleeping. Once you start the tanning process do not shower. Call me if you need any help.

Lisa

PS. I know most judges do no like dream tan where you will be competing.

Which tan do you recommend to conceal/cover up stretchmarks the best? I was thinking of pro tan but I would like your guy's inputs into this. Thanks a lot!

A friend of mine uses Dream Tan #2 for that because she can leave it a little thicker where she has areas needing a little extra concealment...I had to look really hard to see any stretch marks afterwards, and that was from close up. So, from the stage I would say you would be just fine...

Jan Tana hands down. Pro Tan is very good color. It dries out your skin quite a bit. Dream tan is extremely messy.

Get Jan Tana sprayed on the day before you compete if possible. It takes about 1/2 an hour to apply 4 coats. Then you dry for about 1/2 - 1 hour. Make sure you exfoliate & moisturize the week before the show. You can also apply some Jan Tana Body Glaze about 20 minutes before going on-stage. Jan Tana can get you a nice deep chestnut color. Looks Awesome on-stage

All the Pro's use it at all the major shows. That should tell you something.

Ditto!! I'm getting mine done tonight. Not even going to stress with fooling with it and have the professionals do it. One less thing to worry about!

as we speak... I am sitting waiting for my first coat of pro tan to dry...
I've been told to put on 5 coats...and to use the dream tan #2 to cover my tatoos...
Do any of you use the pro tan on your face? I was told yes....

Definetly not Dream Tan---the judges do not like that bronzy color, at least at the national and pro levels. And I am not a fan of Pro Tan either----it takes a million coats to get dark enough and you have to start applying it days in advance. Plus it just stains the skin and isn't a true self tanner so the color can be off---especially if you get an old bottle! I just did Junior Nationals there was a girl there who was positively GREEN---I felt bad for her.

Most girls use Jan Tana at the upper levels of the sport and that is where they get that reddish, warm rich color. You can put it on the day before a show and it is a mousse that goes on easily without streaks. Plus, you can shower afterwards and have a nice even color for photos!

Pro tan is fine if you really like it but I know that those who don't get it just right stick out like a sore thumb...the color just isn't the same and since a lot of girls switched to Jan Tana on the national level, those people stand out. There are even some of the pro level shows where you can look at the top 5 and pick out the Pro Tan users :( When applied right (which is hit or miss, stressful and time consuming) it passes muster but when it isn't, it is not good!

Just my 2 cents though, merely my opinion :) Go with what you are most comfortable with!!!!

Heck yeah! I get sprayed at all my shows and it takes like 20 minutes...2 times and I am good to go. The color is awesome and the Jan Tana people rock. SOOOOOOO much easier!

Jan Tana sells a Make up for the face to help match body color ( face should be a shade or 2 lighter than your body) & also to cover tattoos.

I used 5 coats of Pro Tan and I used Neutrogena's Face Bronzer for my face.

I was told by one of the judges and one of the shows photographers that I had the best color for the men.

The picture in my avatar is after two coats.

GOOD LUCK!

I have used the protan several days before & dream tan the day of show. My concern is how messy dream tan is. Does anyone know if applying Jan tana is any cleaner? I will not be paying someone to apply it. Would you just use Jan Tana alone or something else with it?

I used ProTan for my passed 3 shows and was always pleased. Although other girls used Jan Tana and swore by it too! Except with Jan Tana you cannot wear deodorant, supposedly?

I say give it a dry run to see how your skin reacts to both of them.

I was at Jr's and some of the competitors had GREEN, GREEN, GREEN skin! IT was awful! I was sooo tempted to ask what the hell color they used, but I wimped out.

I have to say that Jantana is truly the best competiton color. I have competed numerous times and as far as quality and convenience, Jantana's products are head and shoulders above Protan and Dream Tan.

The top IFBB pros including Ronnie Coleman, Jay Cutler, Monica Brant and Jenny Lynn all use Jantana exclusively.

If you have the opportunity to have Jantana's team airbrush you at any of your competitions, I would really recommend it. Your color will be applied the day before your show in just two short applications. You won't have to apply multiple coats of Protan to have a base either. You can actually be totally pale...it'll be dark enough. If you're doing it yourself, make sure you have the On-Stage Competition foam and preceed it with the skin prep for 3-5 days.

If anyone has any questions about it or about a particular contest, please feel free to email me at info@roxanakreklo.com. Your color is so important! To have dieted and trained as hard and long as we do and NOT have great color on stage is really silly.

Be aware of those who claim to be professional airbrush artists... anyone can claim that. Cover your bases if you're going to allow someone other than Jan or someone she has personally worked with and trained airbrush you.

All the best!!!

Go to Jan Tana's website & purchase a 4 piece tanning kit. It is way easier to apply. (Use a circular motion). You do not need anything else . Just the Jan Tana. You put on a glaze 15-20 minutes before hitting the stage. With the glaze less is better . you just want a light sheen.

I'm wanting to use Jan Tana for my first show in 2 months time. I like the fact that it feels really comfortable on and does not seem to come off much on clothing, so hopefully will avoid tan stains on the outside of my bikini.

I've done a couple of practise runs using the Jan Tana competition tan lotion, and have had difficulty applying 2nd and 3rd coats. What seems to happen is that the first coat goes on really even, but then when I try to apply the next coat using the puff it starts to rub off the 1st coat and goes patchy.

I was wondering if the mousse is better in this respect? How long should you leave between applying each coat? And is there much of a difference between the old competition tan mousse and the new hi-definition color mousse that only seems to be available via the Jan Tana website?

I'm in the UK, so don't have access to the JT spray tan service, and will need to apply it by hand.

Wait 1.5 to 2 hours between coats. Get the NEW 4 step Color Kit from Jan's website. It has the Mousse. After about 4 coats the tan begins to what they call Roll or pill. (small balls of tanning product buch up and roll off) .

Exfoiliating & moisturizing the week before are very important also. Before you begin applying the tan have a shower, scrub then moisturize. 1/2 hour later apply the first coat . Dry for 2 hours. apply next coat, etc... 4 coats should make you very dark.

Jan Tana is great! I have the airbrush kit (with scrub, moisturizer, competition color and glaze) and that make it quicker and easier, with less mess and very even application. It also comes off more evenly post-comp than ProTan, doesn't stink, and requires fewer coats. As for Dream Tan, I've seen some great physiques fare poorly (in the NPC at least) because of it. It's a very odd, unnatural color under the light when compared to the others.

If I use the jan tana mouse from her website, will 1 bottle be enough, or do I need to buy a couple? I did not see the mouse sold separately on the website. Did I just miss it or is there another place I can buy just the mouse?

One bottle of the On Stage Competition Color should be enough. I don't know anything about the mousse.

the Dreamtan gives a nice Bronzy colour but it can only be a small small coat after having heaps of protan coats already applied because the dreamtan is thick and muddy and can clog up striations. I've never seen anyone use Jan Tana but reading about it on here I'm thinking its the better choice.

Alot of contests end up banning Dream Tan because of damage to the venues. The trend is to get away from the old school style of painting on coats and coats of a particular product the preceeding days of a contest and turning towards airbrushing. The Jantana product is the choice of all the top athletes in the IFBB and NPC (Ronnie, Jay, Monica, Jenny). There is no need for any pre-tanning...just prep your skin properly the week prior ie: exfoliating, moisturizing, etc. You can be white as a sheet and you will get perfect color in 2-3 applications. The other thing that's a plus is that there is no need for oils, Pam or anything else for shine...just the glaze.
The only problem is that not just anyone can airbrush. It seems simple, but there is a technique to it. Take this for what it's worth...I have heard that people professing to use other products are actually applying JanTana and calling it their own!!! What do they say about copying/imitating is the sincerest form of flattery...
