My gf has a pink two piece and a light purple one piece for her figure competitions. recently she's been told by a handful of people that the judges frown upon light colored suits.

she just ordered a black two piece from jagwear...but I just wanted to ask and see if this was the general consensus as well or if it is just a few select people's opinions (that judges prefer dark colored suits)

If this will help you, I purchased a video called "what the judges are looking for" and it's by the NPC people. On that video, they say to stay away from light colored suits because they look too washed out on stage with the bright lights. They said the darker colors do better.

I hope that helps!

Good question..I have dark skin and dark hair, in my 2nd comp I was told I blended into the curtains lol now, I go with bright colors..It's the same concept as applying the correct color makeup, if you have a trainer that is knowledgable in competing try it on and ask them..Good luck!

The woman who is making my suits said the same thing. Darker coloured suits do better with the judging. I'm not sure if there's a science behind it or what-not, maybe the lighter colours wash you out?

I still stuck to darker colours to be safe but I have seen women win with bright (not light) colours.

This is just what I was told.
