View Full Version : Question about IFBB judges...

Just curious, when the judges judge a competitor in the IFBB, do they also take note of their genetic or bone structure disadvantages before "marking them down" or something? For example, if a bodybuilder's arms are small in proportion to his torso due to the size of the bone structure of his arms, however, they're developed to the "max", would the judges take that into consideration? Or let's say one competitor's muscles have that round "peaky" look but another competitor's muscles seem to be flat, would they also take that into consideration as well since "muscle shape" is more of a genetic thing? Or do the judges disregard the pros genetic disadvantages and just go on with whatever physique looks better?

i think you will find they judge on symmetry as well conditioning etc.

Sorry for the stupid question, but I never knew what conditioning meant. What is it? :(

It had to explain. it is to do with having a low bodyfat, and being striated.

What the judges are looking for is an overall "LOOK". They consider what you look like in COMPARISON to whoever is standing next to you. This is the PRO's...they don't give consideratioin for what you don't have whether its genetic or what.

Size
Symmetry
Shape
Proportion
Conditioning
Appearance
Presentation

All these factors are given consideration...

Thanks, but how about the shape of one's muscles? Like bicep peaks for example? Because some people's peaks will be flat no matter what due to genetics. Do the judges also judge you guys on how much "shape" you have? Or do the judges just focus on the main factors which you mentioned?

They won't put that much attention into it. They just look at you for a few seconds and compare your overall package to everyone else.

Example:

Coleman has a big gap between his biceps and his forearms, many people have better bi's than him, but his conditioning and overall size kicks everyone elses ass.

Har har...

Overall package means they judge muscularity, symmetry, conditioning, and presentation.

I never realized we have so much ***gots on this board that giggle when they hear the word package.
