View Full Version : How much sugar/dextrose to create an Insulin spike?

The question is primarily for creatine. I know that pwo, it's ok to create the insulin spike for creatine, and to do that, mix it with dextrose, grape juice, gatorade powder, etc.

But how much? I know the answer will probably be varies per individual, but is there an average or signs of an insulin spike I can go by?

I think most people take in about 40-70g dex post workout. Some suggest as high as 100g, depending on size.


On a side note...remember a 70cc protein scoop is NOT 25g dex like it is protein. A 70cc scoop is roughly 45g dextrose.

In a PWO shake 50 - 75 g of dextrose should suffice.

I usually do about 40-60g dextrose postworkout, seems to work well

would cordial work as good as dextrose etc?
