My question is should a person workout before a BF measurement is taken or not. Have been doing a competetion for reduction of bodyfat for the past few weeks and I have heard various answers concerning should I workout before I go and get measured or not. What can anyone recommend concerning the intake of water also I am 4 days from weigh in.

How is your bf being measured? Calipers?

If so, your reading would be a little bit lower if it was taken after you worked out as the skin would be slightly tighter.

It would be neccessary to drink a lot of water to help in the fat burning process, but in 4 days you cant really get too much done. You may want to keep your water levels normal and then starting the night before the weigh in dont drink any liquids. That would help you to get the lowest scale weight possible.

before the workout with calipers

bioimpedence is worthless imo

Yes they are measuring with calipers..... I have been working at this for the past 12 weeks with weigh out being this saturday. I weighed in January 12 at 290 with 42% BF. I have dropped to 240 and I guess I will fiind out where my BF is this coming Saturday.

Thanks I figured working out before the measurements would be better due to the tightness in skin....... but had some other fellas saying different not to work out because it would push water into the muscles.....

then yes do it before a workout and have it done every 1-2 weeks. be very consistent with the times and sites

you can measure and workout in the same day. just measure first.

just do it before you train! when you get to the gym. have them do it 3-5 times and average out the numbers. this will give you the most accurate measurement and be consistent with the day of the week
