Hey Everybody!
I'm back and it's time to get prepared for comp. I'm looking at a couple of Fall dates which are within a comfortable driving distance. I will nail down which comp as I get closer to ready.
I'll be playing with some food intake ratios as I go. In the past I gained on a higher fat intake, so I'll keep an eye on fat gain. According to calipers which aren't totally reliable, but give me a basic idea, I'm around 15%BF. But the best bet is watching the mirror and taking progress pics as I go for comparison.
Cardio day 40min treadmill
stretching
I kept track mentally of intake today, but hadn't had time to load them into fit day, which I will be sure to do tomorrow. I know from experience I hit my protein for the day, but not sure where I stood on fats, etc......but should have been OK there as well.
New journal so in case you forgot, or never followed before. I posted the equipment I am working with. The pic was taken end of last year so I am actually carrying more BF in the photo. I 'll take some other pics in the coming weeks for current stats.
Equipment is home set up, PowerTec Rack, tower, with bench and leg attachment. I have various bars and plates, dumbbells, a seated calf raise machine, a homemade stand calf raise "stair" a belt and chain to attach plates for calf raises, dips, etc and various attachments. I have a treadmill also which I plan to use maybe once per week until time to cut. I'll bump cardio closer to time.

OK, I think you need some new pic, lol!! Maybe something a tad more scantily clad? :D Good luck on your comp. Where are you looking to compete? I'm always down for cheering one of our own on if it's not too far away. We go to OC once a year to get the freezer filled up with calamari from Indian River Inlet and to catch a few trout while we're there.

I love OC, everyone here has the vaction mentality and there's always something to do. :)
I'm looking at a few different ones, and need to decide which is best NY, NJ, & VA in the time I would like to go.

Coming off a brief hiatus so working slightly under par to be careful. Will up it 2nd session of each part and try full back on the third. Then I'll get back to posting real numbers again.
Leg Day 1:
Squats 3 sets of 8 -felt good
Straight Leg Dead Lifts 3 sets of 8 -felt really good
Lunges 3 sets of 6 -right knee gave me grief at the end (old injury), hopefully it'll stop being stupid next time
Standing Calf Raises 3 sets of 12 -tiny bit of a burn towards the end, so not bad
stretching
On track for food today, will post %'s tomorrow when all my meals are in.

OK screwed up on the clean eating last evening. Local distributor ordered in some obscure beer I wanted form a microbrewery I visited, and I tasted...well a few. Yes I know...stupid, stupid stupid. So I went about 150 cals over what I should have and had replaced some of the protein I should have had. So about 20g too low on protein, and 180 cal over for the day.
I know from past, that if I eat clean for two days, the rest is easy peasy. Hard to tell if my ratios are working if I don't behave myself. And I'll damn sure never make it to comp if I don't show some discipline. So putting it behind me (insert best Brooklyn accent here "forget about it"). Clean slate today, so far so good. :)

lol, I'll keep that in mind!
Came home from work and kicked off my heels to put on work out clothes and low an behold my calves were sore. So that little bit of burn yesterday actually did something. Love that feeling....yay me!
Normally wouldn't do tread on lifting days, but since I'm lifting at half, I added a bit to get a jump start until week 3.
10min incline tread (felt so good stretching the calves a bit)
Lat Raises 3 sets of 8 -little burn on last set
Seated Dumbbell Press 3 sets of 8 -easy
Skull Crushers 3 sets of 8 -little burn on last set
Tri-cep Rope Push Downs 3 sets of 8 -easy
10min incline tread -actually broke a glow, lol
Stretching
May sound strange but great to be back after a few weeks off. It feels like my whole body is waking back up again.
Still on track for clean eating today :)

Had to break down and actually do my taxes today. So I was tied up preparing them. I do my own as I don't trust others with my money.
Anyway, I finished them and paid the government(s) yet another cut of my income. Still have to finish inventory and assessments, but almost have that wrapped up too. Such a relief really.
Legs still a bit store from Leg Day 1 so I'll give them another day to repair and grow and kill 'em tomorrow for Leg Day 2.
So because of time constraints, 20 min incline treadmill interval training.....broke quite a glow this time :D

Monday, Monday, Monday....always busy, glad to be home.
So far so good on food intake.
After posting I'll sit down and outline my new routines. I have some lagging bodyparts that need to catch up to the others.
I am beginning to look into a Figure Coach, which I may use as I close in on comp. There's much I can do now myself. But as I go along an experience eye would prob be a huge asset.
Leg Day 2 (aka light leg day)
Leg Extensions 3 sets of 8 -easy
Lying Leg Curls 3 sets of 8 -aggravated, may switch up and come back to these
Seated Calf Raises 3 sets of 8 -nice burn
Still on week 1 of come back training so still at 50%. I normally do abs on leg day as well, but waiting 'til next week to add them in.

Welcome to the gang SeaSiren. And I must say....150 cals over just by beer alone??? tsk tsk...you don't even want to meet up with us all at the Arnold Classic next year. 150 cals was just a taste alright! :D Aheuser-Busch is on the north end of Columbus and we had a pipeline put in from there! I agree with Hibby, I would go nuts without my coach. I can train on my own but having someone telling you that you're on the right path and that can answer your questions is so important and motivating.
Have a great day!

I'm def leaning towards a coach, so need to do my research to find one willing to work with me, and one who I feel has my best interest at heart, and not just running numbers. The good news is I'm a nose to the grindstone type of gal. So I'll give it all I've got.
how about adding the weights you are using so we can see your progress?
lol, I def will. My weights currently aren't up to par, 50% this week as I am just coming off surgery. I'll do 75% next week and the following see if I can get back to my marks. I'll post then, since right now it is irrelavant. I'm working my way up cautiously so not to screw anything up. I'd hate to have to back into surgey and get backed up that much further.

Going to have words with my daughter. On the back computer and the keyboard is suspiciously sticky. Being the sleuth I am, I think it may be related to the orange peels next to the monitor. But that can not be since there is no food allowed in my room.....now can it? hmm.... :?
Since I am still feeling the guilt factor for 50% weight, still doing some tread to kick it up a bit.
10 min tread
Wide Grip Lat Pull-Down 3sets of 8
Seated Cable Row 3 sets of 8
One Arm Dumbbell Rows 3 sets of 8
Barbell Curls 3 sets of 8
Hammer Curls 3 sets of 8
10 min tread
stretching
This was the last session for 50% weight. Cardio tomorrow then rest day, then bump to 75%
Clean eating all day. :) Behind on water intake, and a bit too late to kick it up a notch or I'll be up and down all night :(

Ty for posting in my journal. :)
You are welcome! :)
Go for it, Siren. You can count that as a leg workout for the night!
Wow! Not thought of it like that before, I need to think more "glass half full" ;)
<sarcasm>Cardio today my favorite </sarcasm> I'll get to it when I get off work. Rainy icky day today. The kind that makes me want to sleep.
Free Day tomorrow, daughter gets new bands on braces first thing, then off to daughter's physical education class, work then off to get a second opinion on my dogs leg. He injured it almost a year ago and I was told just to let him rest it. He had to be kept in check for almost 3 months, then promply re-injured it chasing squirrels. It's been a roller coaster of getting almost better, then bad again. He doesn't whine, just won't use it some days.
First Vet is saying surgery way up the road and into thousands of dollars. I'm not a vet but I would suspect injecting the area first to see if we can get some results would be the best route to go first. A good friend of mine is a vet but in another county almost an hour away. So going to see what he says. I've assisted him in the past (horses mainly). So I can admin the injections myself if needed. Hoping for a good outcome on the prognosis.
Anyway, the point of all that was....I won't have a spare moment to fit in a session tomorrow so Free Day.

OK I lied....I didn't rest
I had this amazing amount of energy that I really needed to get out and took it out on the tread. 40 min incline tread. At one point I hit this amazing burst of energy and wonderful feeling of peace and felt like I could have run all day long. I feel better now :D Truly amazing because I generally don't like cardio as a rule. But that could get to addictive....prob very bad for building when I get back full on lifting over the next weeks. But it'll be awesome for cutting! lol

Yes, but unfortunately not much to go by. :(
OK, none of the photos turned out due to a very long delay time on the camera (need a new camera I guess). I refuse to adjust my workout for the camera. So I suppose there will be days that I get nothing at all. But I promised pics, so here are some really sucky ones (is that a real word?)
SL Dead Lift warm-up
http://a773.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/11/l_4523db78e40dc4000c6a5e45db560ce4.jpg
Me getting aggravated at the timing delay.
http://a126.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/15/l_5fb4e74cbf0ab621af3250d1c63d799d.jpg
Lunges (at 75% lifting effort)
http://a605.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/61/l_bc34c5453e64ceaa935cecdaef1bc6cc.jpg
I did however, get a good side shot (so to speak, my eyes were closed), but I was able to tell that I was not stepping out enough on the lunge. Great to know! As I know I get parallel to the floor, but with the few mirrors in there, it wasn't something I caught before. So pics could be a good thing!
I have a vid camera too, but no software to get it onto the 'puter. guess I need a new vid too *sigh*
OK, hopefully better shots next time :)

I was referring to the cardio getting addictive.
In my case there is not a chance in hell that this will ever happen. I know I should but I never ever do cradio. I freak out because I know I'll have no choice before my comp but only for 8 weeks...
you don't get the monday night rush , or the fat guys left the bench sweaty ordeals :(

I didn't :(
 :D , just shake it off
I only need to do another 1,974 hours on the elliptical to offset all the p'nut butter eggs I consumed yesterday.
I do hope that you exercised much better restraint than I did.
Have a Happy Monday!
lol, I did eat too much dinner, even though it was just a very little bit of each dish. I felt soooo heavy afterward! Luckily I don't like sweets anymore, so was never tempted by the chocolates, candy or dessert. But, I'm still feeling icky from dinner!
Happy Monday!

Funny, they used to be my favorite. It is however, interesting that the bunny didn't bring those to my house. :)
Leg Day 2 (AKA light leg day)
Leg Extensions Warm-up 35x12x1, 50x8x1, 75x6x1, feeling pretty good so 100x6x1 -looking forward to taking it up to 100% next time.
Seated Calf Raises Warm-up 25x12x1, 50x6x1, 75x6x3, nice burn
Dumped the Curls, they were bothering me, and did Sumo DeadLifts for the first time. I made sure not to push as hard as I could, but will go 100% out next week.
Sumo Dead Lifts Warm-up 25x10x1, 65x6x3 -felt pretty good, interesting that they seemed to effect the glutes more than other exercises I have done in the past....this might be a keeper :)
Sore abs so none today
Clean eating all day. New eating schedule starting tomorrow going to give it a few weeks and see what happens.

OK, got my diet sorted out last evening. Trying something new (recent article Waterbury wrote), based on my lean body mass.
Protein 104g (this is less then I was, so pretty easy), this will be roughly 535 calories from protein
Omega 3 - 10g, this will be 176 calories
Total Daily Calories -1248
This leaves 537 calories from fruits and veggies. He offers a great list of more nutritional fruits and veggies to get the most punch for your calories.
This actually isn't too far off what I am used to, as I was on approx 1400 calories, but my protein was about 130-140g, so a bit of a drop in both and a bit of a rise in Omega 3 (I was getting 6.7g per day before).
Last Day of 75%, next session as full on! Yay me!
Wide Grip Lat Pull-down Warm-up 10x45x1, 6x60x3
Seated Cable Rows Warm-up 10x45x1, 6x65x3
One Arm Dumbbell Rows Warm-up 10x8x1, 6x15x3
Barbell Curls Warm-up 10x15x1, 6x30x3
Hammer Curls 6x15x3
stretching
Workout went easily, even with the lower caloric intake. So far so good :)

So are your total calories going to be 1248 or 1785 (1248 + 537)? Do you have alink to the article? And have you read Tom Venuto's Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle? I like Waterbury for training but my money is on Venuto for nutrition.

1248 cal per day. I am either blessed or cursed with a very slow metaboolism, it means I can't eat as much as most, but at least my grocery bills stay low, lol Over 1600 calories makes me gain fat like there is no tomorrow, and I have heard the "just stick with it", stick with it was a 15lb weight gain and wasn't pretty. Most people could not function on such low calories. I maintain easily on 1400. so 1248 with increased fat, isn't a stretch for me. I think all of us are so different and what may work for some may not for others. I'm going to give it a bit to see what happens.

No, actually I may be more confused, lol When posed the question, why I would want one that couldn't be accomplished with squats, etc. I couldn't come up with much. But some of the other figure gals, said they use it for "finishing" type exercises. So there could be some benefit. However, I think I will go with the "weight over the head" version. So now I have to find another manufacturer I trust. :)
I like your new avi SS. Yes definitely! I'm trying to get the best bang for my buck. So keeping my eyes peeled. Unfortunately most people are dumping little benches, ab rollers, and occasionally a bow flex thing. But perhaps I'll get lucky. I'm always scoping the yard sales for more Olympic bars and plates too.

The workout in the article seems great for someone starting out. I'm passed that point, so having to adjust workouts to get the results I need. But the diet portion seems totally doable for me. I think some people may not do as well on a low cal diet. Time will tell :)

Cardio today:
40 interval training on incline tread.
stretching And may I say I kicked some serious butt :D
My cardio seems to always be better on lower cal and today was Day 2 of the new diet. I'm getting really close to my numbers. Energy level is actually increased and was unable to sleep more than 6 hours last eve. (that's little sleep for me).
The Good -my energy level is awesome!
The Bad - every driver on the road seemed to have it out for me...like I was invisible or something. Some serious evasive driving on my part today.

lol, oh that's would it's called? Phew I was worried :)
It was steady raining this morning and the rain drops were dancing off the skylight over my bed. Not to mention the bed was so warm and cozy (you know what I mean). So I ended up getting a late start on my day. Had to sacrifice not getting a load of laundry or the vacuuming done before work. But other then that, eating is on track and gearing up for Leg Day this afternoon. :)

Most people just call me strange....can't imagine why.
Eating on track, energy is still great.
Legs
Barbell Squat Warm-up 10x40x1, 6x90x3 -hit my old numbers (yes, sad I know), but found them difficult and my lower back kept spasming.
Straight Leg Dead Lift Warm-up 12x25, 6x75x3 -don't think I could have gone heavier, but no problems until after, lower back still not quite right
Lunges 6x25x3 -these went well
Standing Calf Raises Warm-up12xBW, 12xBW+50x2 -nice burn
Abs
2-sets of 25 decline crunches
stretching
I kept a good eye on my form, so not sure what the problem was, maybe just because of time off. Lower cal surprisingly didn't effect my workout today. A bit surprised I am adjusting this easily.
Daughter's 12th Birthday dinner tomorrow (when did that happen? :( now I feel old!) so I am using it as a Rest Day, and cheat day all in one. :D
The Good: I hit my numbers -yay me!
The Bad: my numbers suck

Hiya SS,
I have to ask you do 5 or 6 meals a day?
Because if you do so, you slow metabolism will start getting fast.
It takes about 4 weeks and there you are, starving and loosing fat and eating between 1800-2200 cals a day.

Hey Seosaid, thanks for stopping in! I very much appreciate your response.
I eat 6 meals per day, did over 1400cal for a few months (1800-2000) and got fat. I've been up to 182 at one time. I am hypo-thyroid. They say my levels are fine (several Docs), but I still have symptoms. Easy weight gain is one, getting very cold easily and sometimes hair loss is another. Anyway "it is what it is". Genetically speaking with the exception of my mother, my family is obese, not just fat, obese.
With summer coming, I'm not sure I'm ready to try it yet one more time. Perhaps in the winter months when I can cover up the fat, I might get the guts.
I have kept the few trainers I have worked with perplexed and every one said I am the anomaly, something they have never had to work with before. I have gotten to be OK with it, I can maintain normal weight with very little food intake. So I had to start viewing food intake as fuel to get what I need done and nothing more.
When I go to cut, my cal intake will be pretty much the same, I'll just begin to cut out the rest of the processed foods & lastly the sodium, and bump the cardio way up. Raw plain veggies will be my friend :D
I may have to work a bit dif then others, I think most of you figure gals may be genetically better off over me.

That is sooo sweet thank-you! :) I have actually backed off my abs, I generally use the rope on the tower, add weight, drop to the floor with a dumbbell between my legs to keep me on the floor and bang out crunches. But, I was afraid I may be building my waist too much and the look I need for figure is a tiny waist, so for right now, I'll stick to light body weight exercises.
Regarding time, it is simply amazing how quickly they grow up. It feels like she was just a tiny thing and I turned around twice and she is trying to become an adult on me. :( But seriously, I am in the best health and shape of my life, and fighting my genetics all the way. lol

OK, this is where things get interesting (for me anyway). New training schedule to bring up those lagging parts. Of course I'll adjust as necessary along the way.
Shoulders (aka weakest body part):
Seated Dumbbell Press Warm-up 10x12lb (5.4kg) x1, 6x20lb (9kg) x 3
Lateral Raises 10x15lb (6.8kg)x 2 -good God, I hate these!
Triceps:
Skull Crushers Warm-up 10x15lb(6.8kg)x1, 6x35lb(15.9kg)x3 -trouble getting bar into position. I want to bump the weight on this so going to have to figure something out here.
Tricep Push Downs 10x50lb(22.7kg)x2 -wrist pain, just a pinched nerve I think
Legs:
Leg Extensions Warm-up 12x50lb(22.7kg)x1, 8x85lb(38.5kg)x1, 8x95lb(43kg)x1, 8x100lb(45.4kg)x1 -really nice strong muscle burn after each set
Seated Calf Raises 12x25lb(11.3kg)x1, 10x60lb(27.2kg)x3 -nice burn during sets
Stretching
Eating on track after cheat day yesterday. I did not go overboard on my cheat, so yay me! Daughter's B-Day Party today, and the cake she wanted to bake didn't turn out as planned, so I'll have to make other arrangements quickly....and need to run a vacuum before I have a house full of kids and parents today. Yes, it can! I was just speaking to someone about food recently. Beer=grain, Wine=Fruit and Ketchup=Vegetable (or fruit, but I'm old school). Just be really careful that you eat enough to get the necessary nutrients, otherwise it's just not healthy for you.

Your workouts look goos, SeaSiren. I hope the storm/winds have passed you by.
I wish I could tell you a better way to do the skull crushers, as I know exactly what you mean by "awkward". I kind of do a "controlled" sit-up/roll-back onto the bench, with the weight already at my shoulders (like MP). It's still awkward, but it works decently.

I love visiting here, there's always photo's.........still like the bunny one best :D
Good workout......scull crushers, rest the bar on your knees with your grip inbetween them. "Roll backwards" keeping this "seated" position, your arms straight (or more or less straight) and the bar on your bent knees. As you come to rest on the bench , the bar will naturally continue its momentum to the starting position.
if you don't get what i mean i'll try to sort a picture or something.

Legs
Barbell Squat Warm-up 10x40(18.1kg)x1, 6x90(40.8kg)x3 -back still not right on these. I actually feel I might be able to bump this, but not until I get my back strong enough I guess.
Sumo Leg Dead Lift Warm-up 10x15(6.8kg), 6x75(34kg)x3 -this was actually my last exercise. A small cooler blew over from the top of my freezer (gusty today), since my instinct was to duck and get the heck out of the way of the falling object, I went right on the final rep and felt something pull in my lower back. First thought, "Son of a Bit**!!!!"
Shoulders
Rear Delt Row Warm-up 10x12(5.4kg)x1, 6x20(9.1kg)x3, 6x25(11.3kg)x2 -felt really good bumped the weight
Front Raise 10x15(6.8kg)x2 -ummmm ouch, ouch ouch!
Triceps
Tricep Rope Pull Overs 10x20(9.1kg)x1, 6x30(13.6kg)x3 -new exercise for me. A bit of a hard time keeping my feet planted and not getting knocked off balance or leaning too far forward. I'll get the hang of it though I'm sure.
Bench Dips (feet elevated) Warm-up 10xBWx2 -I actually love these! Nice burn.
stretching
The Good: New weight on the rear delt row!
The Bad: squat still a problem
The Ugly: Damn gust of Wind!

Pulled back from yesterday did play a part in today's workout. So, I was disappointed in it, but more of an aggravation then anything else. :(
I am way behind at work, and just trying to keep my head above water, but mostly fighting with vendors to deliver on time. Won't complain the busier I am the more $ I can put away for the slow times.
Finally scheduled an annual physical with the Doc, god I hate docs. But had to be done or they won't refill thyroid meds. I had him run a full blood panel, figured why not, since I'm already there with a needle sticking out of my arm
Had to schedule the carpet shampooers to run through, I knocked a dark beer over a few days ago, and it simply isn't going to come up via conventional means.
And finally.....I scheduled to have my navel pierced. Yes, I am going to go ahead with it....oh joy
Back
Closed Grip Lat Pull-down Warm-up 10x65lbs(29.5kg)x1, 6x80lbs(36.3kg)x3
Bent Over Barbell Rows 6x35lbs(15.9kg)x2, 6X45(20.4kg)X1 ?felt good bumped the weight
Biceps
Concentration Curls 6x15lbs(6.8kg)x3
Forearms
Reverse Barbell Curls 12x15lbs(6.8kg)x1, 6x25lbs(11.3kgs)x2 ?weight was too light, bumped it here as well
Hams
Straight Leg Dead Lifts Warm-up 10x15lbs(6.8kg)x1, 6x75lbs(34kg)x3
Lying Leg Curls 6x35lbs(15.9kg)x3
Calves
Seated Calf Raises Warm-up 12x25lbs(11.3kg)x1, 12x50lbs(22.7kg)x2
Abs
2 sets 25 decline crunches
stretching
Eating is still clean :)
The Good: Fairly good workout this eve, bumped some weights again
The Bad: Having to call a shampooer to come in
The Ugly: Being forced to pay the Doc $85 just for a visit when I am NOT SICK!!!!

Me too, thay have actually had a new Doc for over 9 months now, but I have never seen him since I don't get sick *knocks on wood*, so they were suprised as they are every year......Bummed about the old Doc leaving, he was a bodybuilder, so more in tune.
navel pierced? ok you know we must have pictures. :D
lol, well my understanding is that it isn't pretty for a while after. I am getting it done as soon as they open back up next weekend (I'm in a beach resort, so they are closed all winter) so it has time to heal up before swimsuit season. But after that, no problemo!

Luckily, I know it's not serious and it was fine all day until I went to lift, tonight and then I felt it. Luckily its cardio tomorrow and rest day after...so I'm sure it'll be fine.

I'd opt for a battery operated toy over that guy. :D That way, you can pretend it's whoever you'd like to be there. :)
I had my naval pierced. I liked it and it was only a little pinkish for about a week. I did give it lots of tender loving care for about six weeks (if my memory is correct). I also let mine grow back together as it just seemed like a bit much with both the tattoo and the naval piercing. It didn't hurt any to get it done. I didn't feel a thing. The tattoo, I felt. ;)
Funny story -- I went into a very nice jewelry store in town and asked the guy to make me a naval ring. He burst into a big grin and said I was the first who had walked in and asked for that. He made it and it was very pretty -- had a little diamond and a little sapphire (my birthstone) on it. :)

No soreness at all today. I was moving my elbows forward on the barbell curls, so I need to make note to use the mirror to my side, to keep form.
Also note to self: barbell curls, cable rows and lat pull downs need to be bumped up 5lbs next week.
Off to go tan.....later

thank-you :) Perhaps it's my daughter's doing. She thinks she may want to be a photographer....and with a digital camera, so goes around snapping pics a lot. So I'll always have pics, I suppose, lol
See now we're all busting to hear about this biker bar!! Should I be scared ..... ..... lol
HAHA! The Biker bar wasn't THAT big a deal. But, Friday night the girls had a PJ & Pizza party at the local library. The library hosted for that age group, lots of giggling girls in PJ's watching Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and they got goodie bags and played games for 2-1/2hours. Anyway, I was asked out for Chinese and it was my cheat day...so thought why not. But warned I only had a couple hours. So on our way we passed by the local biker bar, which I have never been in, and I mentioned that fact and before I knew it we were whipping into a parking space.
It wasn't hugely crowded, still early I imagine and there were bike lined up out front at the door. I kept telling myself "don't touch anything" as I had thought of accidentally knocking into one and watching them all go down one by one like on some comedy movie, but would have been a horror for me.
So I walk in, not really dressed for a biker bar, and decide that I really wished I had worn something not so preppy and perhaps a turtle neck as my cleavage was drawing a bit of attention by all the filthy nasty men....I really mean that, looks like showers would have been in order all around. The "ladies" were all the stout sort with the exception of one with yellow teeth and a cigarette hanging from her lip. She had the yellow hard skin of a smoker and simply scared me. Everyone had greasy type hair, most pulled back (even the men) and most wore bandanas. All had well worn jeans, and some had well worn jackets and chaps on....the really deal these guys, serious riders.
The bar had a cement floor and looked like I had walked into an unfinished warehouse with all the beams exposed. The barn style front doors remained open keeping everything "earthy" (insert filthy here) and cold to boot. There was a torn up wooden stage (no one was playing) beer and biker banners everywhere. and an entire 3 beers on tap. I was feeling like turning and running at this point, but thought, Id' come this far, right? So I sat at the Formica counter topped crooked bar and sat upon a bar stool, which apparently had some damage too it, but they were all like that. Ordered a domestic draft....not that I had much of a choice. And was served in a plastic Dixie type cup. I don't think I have ever been served in a Dixie cup and had to ponder why. Behind the bar there were a few baseball bats and it occurred to me why I was served in a Dixie cup and was glad that all the "ladies" around the bar who could kick my little preppy behind in 2 seconds, were also drinking from Dixie cups :D
My date, got up to go to the restroom, and as he rose I grabbed his jacket and said..."where the hell do you think you are going?", I mentioned that my date "preppy boy" may not want to leave me alone. But he insisted. This ensued some heavy looks and a few seemed to keep staring, OK more like leering and rising from their bar stool. The entire time, I'm thinking....."just don't make direct eye contact with them ,and perhaps they won't come talk to me" (now my mind could have been interperting everything wrong, I was fairly scared). Luckily he came back quickly. The guy across from me, with yellow teeth gal, kept leering and nodding, and she kept giving me really, really dirty looks. I was under the impression that if she or he had a few more drinks in them, this was going to get really ugly...I am way out of my comfort zone! So I made "preppy boy" pay the bar tab (one drink each), and I headed for the door as one of the drunks started making a huge scene about the bartender stealing his drink (which the drunk had left at the other end of the bar, but was too drunk to notice).
So as I am leaving I hear this engine amped way up as a bike rounds the corner and tears down the street, followed, several seconds later by a cop car full on with sirens. I got my truck and saw two more troopers behind that one in pursuit.....game on!
Anyway, believe it or not I may go back to the Biker Bar, but during bike week, when all the biker wanna be's are out in their shiny new bike jackets with their garage kept shiny bikes....If I get out the jeans, and skull bikini top and maybe even a bandanna, I might just slide by and blend in the crowd. :D
Wrap up for today:
The Good: on my way for Thrasher's French Fries (only a taste I swear)....the entire town is now officially open for the season! Yay!
The Bad: Go, go go all weekend
The Ugly: Freaking Monday is tomorrow, and I didn't get ANY beach time :(

interesting story. i hope you don't mind if i make a few comments. i have spent over 25 years associated with motorcycle clubs. most of my friends are current or former club members. i don't mean social riding clubs i am talking one of the big 4 worldwide motorcycle clubs. i won't put there name out there but anybody can see where i am from knows who i am talking about. the bar sounds like places where i spent most of my adult life hanging out at. it is always interesting to see how others viewed us. i would like to make a few suggestions if you go back if i may. if that place is a hangout for a club meaning people with a 3 piece patch on there back be careful. respect is a big issue. to get respect you must give respect. the folks i know will kill or die for that patch so this no game to them. also don't come across as being there to laugh at them or look down at them because when strangers have come to our places to do that then we would show them how bad we can be. a saying we had there is no life like being a lowlife. if i knew what was the closest big city was to the bar i could tell you who runs that area and that bar.please don't take this the wrong way as i am just trying to give you a heads up beforehand so you can avoid any kind of trouble. there are people who ride harleys then there are bikers then there are club members. 3 completely different kind of people. the place you described sounds like a place clubbers may hang out in. that is why i thought i should tell you this.
after seeing where you are from i can tell you there are a couple of major clubs in your area that shall we say do not see eye to eye so strangers will be viewed with suspicion. maybe more info than you want to know but the more you know the safer you will be.

tatdawg, thanks for the information, I do want to be safe, and I do want to go back again.
There were several Harley's in the parking lot, so next time I'll pay more attention to patches. Some were already drunk and very unruly, so I was surprised to see the bartender still serving them. They all looked so tough, both the men and women.
I have the utmost respect for real bikers as these were, not just the people who dress up like them on the weekend. If I had come in with another biker and expecting to be there (dressed more for it), I think it would have been better and I could have socialized more. But, I wasn't and they all looked so darn tough.....trust me I'm quite a prissy girl, lol. And I imagine they knew I was way out of my element and not comfortable. And were probably laughing at me, not the other way around.
I have a feeling these guys, once accepted by them are the type of people to give you the shirt off their back though. I had neighbors like that when I lived in the country. They may not of had a lot of money but if anything were to happen, I don't think they would have locked there doors and waited for everything to away. They would have come running to help, big hearts and all.
Which is precisely why I am interested in going back. I simply adore bikes, but maybe wait when there's a bigger crowd so I don't stand out as much.
Oh....forgot to mention I have a shoot with bikes in a few months, so at least I get to touch one, if nothing else, lol

SeaSiren, I imagine most of those in the biker bar had never seen a real woman who works out, much less one who takes regular showers. You'll probably be ok during biker week, but I imagine you'll probably get hit on a lot more with all the wannabees around.

Hi SS,
So how did the rest of the date go?
I agree with Josie, I'll stay away!

lol, the rest of the date was short, but fine. I didn't have much time, had to go pick up my girls.
I did get to go out to dinner the following evening to what is prob one of the best restaurants in the area. It was his birthday. I wore the corset in my avatar and a black mini with heels :D Had his attention all night, his eyes didn't wander once! yay! That evening went well, although I stuck with very light fare since it wasn't a cheat day for me.
40 minute interval training on incline tread -not very strong today, but broke a good glow anyway.
Abdomen is giving me grief and is pretty swollen and sore especially in one section. Enough that I have an appt scheduled will doc on Wed. No fever, so I won't get too worried unless that occurs. Hopefully it won't get worse before then....and even better go away.
The Good: Heroes is on again tonight, looking forward to it(yes, I watch it)
The Bad: Some of the fixtures I ordered in for all the new stock were incorrect, and it is my fault. Luckily I am the boss so the "buck stops here".
The Ugly: Ab pain and swelling :(

Here goes....
First Pic is from Jan 29th 2007

The second pic was taken April 24th 2007. I'm still carrying too much BF for comp, but I think there may be progress....hope so because I have been busting my a**
http://www.denisenicole.com/images/back04242007.jpg
Both poses were "cold" (i.e. I did not come fresh off a training session). I still have not learned to hold a pose well. Complicated since I can not make a tight fist with my left hand. But, I'll practice and get it to even up.
Comp isn't until Fall, so still have plenty of time. My own critique, I feel I have made progress (still have work to do), but not happy at all with arms :(
EDIT: Forgot to mention, I took a month off during that time period.

Don't worry too much about the arms, they will look bigger the more defined they get.....as you cut.
take your progress pic's in the same place every time , so you don't get different light effects. this will help you see progress.
Your back has good density and definition, and your arms are not out of proportion............so stop worrying :)

Reverse Barbell Curls were an issue today. My thumb totally lost it's grip on one of the last reps and I nearly dropped the whole darn thing. This may be unavoidable, Old injury which never fully recovered. No worries though. If it continues to be an issue, I will have to simply choose another exercise.
Pretty good day today! I got a lot done at work. And.....I landed another modeling gig, bikini shoot, so I am thrilled :) My "hobby" seems to have turned into work more and more, but I'm enjoying it.
The Good: Landed the modeling job

lol, yes good point! It was white and I managed not to knock it over....that was truely amazing in itself given the day.
This morning I went to the Ocean City Humane Society's Dog Walk at the Board Walk's Charity Drive. The animal shelter is a no kill shelter and funds are raised from the community to keep it running.
Participants could adopt a dog for the day or bring their own. I brought my baby Tyler and he enjoyed his outing. They had an amazing turn out with hundreds of participants. I was stopped and spoke with two news papers and posed for photos for both. I was using my sponsor's name for the drive (Vegan Bodybuilding & Fitness) and raised money accordingly.
Here are a couple of candids:
These were taken down further away from the inlet, where all the registration and chaos was taking place.

His tag reads: "Former Shelter Dog:, which were available at registration as was the little bandanna he is wearing, which identified all the dogs which were registered for the walk.

All in all a good day, he had a blast and was a happy little camper. He also promptly came back and took a nap after all the fun. :)

Thank-you! That was actually after a night of eating fried salty food and drinking beer, lol
Which brings up a funny story. I went out to dinner last evening, and the waitress carded my date and not me. She looks right at him, smiles and drawls, "I need to see your ID". Then says, "you look so young, I though you were like 22" *giggles*. Then she says, "we have to card anyone who looks under 30"....and shoots me a look!!!
Then I thought What the F** **tch. (I kept my composure, and put on my "cheerleader smile" even though I was seething a bit). When she came back, I asked where she was from....she said North Carolina, and I thought to myself....now that I know the playing field, that was incredibly well played.
She continued through the night, but since I knew the score, I used the "it suits you comment" and that seemed to set her back a bit.....seems we had the same play book. lol
For those who don't know "it suits you" is southern for "it looks like sh*t (and so do you)"
Funny story. Even nicer pics

Wide Grip Lat Pull-down Warm-up 10x65lbs(29.5kg)x1, 6x80lbs(36.3kg)x3 -harder than usual today
Straight Leg Dead Lifts Warm-up 10x15lbs(6.8kg)x1, 6x85(38.6kg)x3
Seated Cable Rows Warm-up 6x85lbs(38.6kg)x3
Barbell Curls Warm-up 12x20lbs(9.1kg)x1, 6x40lbs(18.1kg)x3 -also harder then usual
Lying Leg Curls -ummmm didn't happen! I thought about it, but belly is still tender, and I thought lying on a new puncture wound while grinding it into a bench might not be the smartest thing I've done. So, will have to find a replacement for these next few weeks.

OK decision time...
I'm a bit overwhelmed. A gentleman BBer whom I have been in touch with in the past wants to train me. He has won quite a bit and competed at the Mr Universe level. He has also trained other Figure Gals. The fact that he has taken an interest has taken me aback a bit.
This will be no picnic, this is pretty serious training. I'd have to follow food and training to a "T", and of course report back to him. I don't think he is in the business of training someone who isn't committed to taking this all the way. He doesn't want his time wasted. He'd be flying out in June for about a month. ANd I'll fly over to Europe to meet back up in the Fall.
Anyway, at this point in my life this is prob "it", the opportunity I will regret later if I don't take it. I'm worried about failing him and myself, which can not be an option.
I will also be prohibited from posting publicly my nutrition and training, which I have to say gives me a lot of strength and encouragement.
Wow....just seriously overwhelmed that someone believes in me that much.....

OK, here it goes, so to speak....
I have been offered to train under Robbie, diet, training etc. Very strict and honestly had to think about. I'm not quite sure why I needed to hesitate even a bit. I totally respect Robbie including his knowledge, so that's not it. I truly believe my hesitation was believing in myself..... possibly for the first time in my life. I've always put everyone else first. And perhaps was afraid I would let Robbie down or even myself.
I've considered a serious trainer for a while now and who better then him?
Failure is not an option! So I have decided to ride this out as far as it will take me. This means no pity, no whining, no excuses....it also means not posting my training or diet anymore. This is par for course with ALL trainers! So NO 'that's not fair" allowed.
I've come to rely on positive feedback and suggestions from my journals, so 'tis hard. But I feel this is where I am supposed to be, and I will regret not giving 100% to this later.
That being said, my journal will be more of a reflection of struggles, goals, and accomplishments.
I intend to make you all proud and most of all....prove to myself for once that I can do this...
Last Training - 30 min interval on incline tread
Last Meal (you're gonna love this Robbie) beer and tortilla chips with salsa ( yes, i love salt!) :)
Robbie...thank-you for believing in me. I intend to make you , me and my friends (even internet friends) proud....so game on!!! ;)

OK, Robbie is on the ball and things started right away! No time to breathe
Training today was intense. I actually thought I was in somewhat good shape. Apparently I am very, very wrong!!!! I am dying and am not sure I have ever worked so hard in my life. (I'm sure Robbie is finding this intensely amusing at my expense). I had to keep stopping and felt like a total beginner.....I even looked at the training and thought "piece of cake, eh no problemo"
I can not be this lame when he comes in June! I think he will walk back on the plane and go home shaking his head....rofl
OK basically crawled out of WO Day 1

I think there will be a bit of an adjustment period, while I get into the routine. So all the burn is a good thing :) (at least I keep telling myself that, over and over....I'll be convinced soon, lol)
Workouts are broken up into body parts, yesterday was a very intense leg day......thus the inability to walk, lol

So day 2 of diet change and my body needs to adjust still. Many "duh" moments today and focusing a bit off. This should go away in a few days.
AM workout was stellar, mostly cardio today. Diet totally clean eating.
So tired, and trying to get into a routine (anything new takes some getting used to). Off to yearly physical, clean bill no worries there. Decided to catch tan on the way home, nice to do nothing even if it was just a few moments of being able to lay down.
I left the roofer's tear off my old shingles when I left this morning, came back home to a great looking new roof. Wow they work fast. And then noticed the dirt and nails on my couch (a bit worse in person, camera didn't bit a lot up):
http://www.denisenicole.com/images/roof1.jpg
And then my stair well....who's going to pay the carpet shampooers to come in and clean that (ugly) sea foam green carpet (quite common amongst the homes here by the ocean) it's covered in dirt and debries:
http://www.denisenicole.com/images/roof3.jpg
My bedroom.....the trash, and the huge black paper on the back of the bed are all them:
http://www.denisenicole.com/images/roof2.jpg
They had destroyed my skylights and had to replace them!!!! Now I ask you, I have cathedral ceilings. Who gets to go up there and paint the trim?:
http://www.denisenicole.com/images/roof4.jpg
So as soon as I catch my breath, I'll be cleaning for some time and trying to figure out if they entered the house while I was gone.
The Good: clean bill of health
The Bad: I'm a bit tuckered due to diet change up
The Ugly: MY house!!!

I'm assuming since I wasn't home they couldn't get in to clean up what fell through the skylights. But a phone call would have been appreciated. I'll call in the morning to find out how they will handle it.

Don't worry the first weeks are the worst but you'll get use to it. The "overly full" thing is normal, I used to look at my dinner and wanted to cry  I would even change into sweats to be able to fit everything in. Now is a different story. I'm 5'4 112 lbs and I eat 3000 cals a day and I'm starving....
Sorry about all the cleaning you have to do! Tha really sucks!
