Where can I purchase BB bikini?

Hi all, I am working towards a Natural BB competition in May 2004 and was wondering if I could use the bikinis that are seen through Fitness/Figure competitions or do the bodybuilders use different types of bikinis for BB competition. They look similar to me. I have noticed that the Fitness/Figure bikinis are more elaborate and some have a string which crisscrosses around the back unlike the plain bikinis that I have seen in BB competitions.

Also, I heard that amateurs must wear dark colors, not reds or pretty blues. Is this a “right” that is strictly reserved for a BB champion or something?

Where might one purchase a bikini for a BB competition? I looked locally for a bikini and the clerk at the swimsuit shop was confused and referred me to an adult novelty store. I don’t know if I should be insulted or what…lol. Like I am an adult strip dancer or something……

I have never heard that rule about dark colours. I know girls who have competed in all sorts of gorgeous colours!

The general rule of thumb is that you want to complement your skin tone, and features when you choose a color for your competition suit. Another good idea is to check with the promoter of the bb show you are planning to compete in as to the rules for posing suits. I know in the NPC, you can only wear the elaborate beaded and sequin suits in the night show, and must wear a plain posing suit for the day show. There are many suit designers that will custom make a posing suit for you. Two wonderful websites to look at are: Cerada.com with suits by Christie Skelton, and MCBodywear.com by Merry Christine. (I hope I get those correct) Both of these designers are from the northwest, but do suits for competitors from all over. Pre-made suits in a variety of colors can also be purchased from Jagwear. They are reasonalbly priced, look good, and you can have them make an evening suit as well. Good Luck in your competition!

you should also check with the bodybuilding federation in which you plan to compete in... some, like the NPC prohibit multi colored suits for bodybuilding. You must have a solid color with no shine. Rules are rules. Don't find out the day of the show like I've seen some people do.
