Hi. I am a struggling overweight girl trying to get a "sexy fit body". For almost 10 years of my life I have been trying to lose weight and become fit and healthy. That has failed many times for me. I went on diets , took pills, went to the gym, etc. Can somebody please help me. I don't know where to start, how to eat at what time and when, how much to work out. I'm 5'4, I'm 173 lbs and I have 43% body fat.

Well Princess Kitty,
Body building is hard work and there are no fast and permanent ways of keeping yourself fit other than a commitment to it and good information on it.
I would suggest you go into Ms. Briant's portfolio found her at BB.com. She eats soo well. The standard NorthAmerican diet will kill you before your actual expiry date.
My first suggestion is quit drinking juice. And Pop if you still drink that sort of poison. Drink 16 glasses of water. And take a calcium supplement along with a nice multi before bed.
Get your cardio before you eat in the morning.
It seems to increase your burning ability throughout the day.
Eat a fibre cereal for snacks.
And quit eating starches after 5 pm.
Are you trying to kill yourself?
No chips, fries, cheese anything till you are buff and fit.
You hate me now, and you'll thank me later, girl.
And don't forget to hit the weights. It will reshape your entire bod.
Joyce Vedral as got some fab, easy, and clear books for beginners.
Check it out from the library.
All the best! Hope this helps.

quit starches after 5 pm? i dont think it matters when you are eating carbs, just as long as it fits into your overall macros for the day. and fasted cardio isnt always the best for everyone, the workout can be more intense and beneficial if you have a little something before even its a protein shake plus some fruit. but the idea of cardio in the morning has the right idea behind it, it'll get your body's metabolism kickstarted for the rest of the day.

I strongly suggest getting a copy of Venuto's burn the fat feed the muscle. While that information can be found elsewhere, the way he has it organized and laid out makes it a lot easier.

You can read about it here - http://terracotta2.googlepages.com/bffmreview

Ugh... please ignore this entire post ^^^, as it's so full of crap I don't even know where to begin picking it apart...

I would suggest checking out the links that Terracotta provided. She has some very good information on her site for people who are new to fitness and the healthy eating lifestyle.

The most important thing is to read up about basic nutrition and exercise from credible sources ahem... and to slowly make changes to your lifestyle.

Please don't just take what others tell you at face value, and please don't try and change 180 degrees all at once. I know it's cliche, but slow and steady wins the race.

Best of luck!

Ummm...if you're trying to scare her off, congrats!

There is NO reason to stop eating carbs after 5 and you do NOT need to do cardio before eating...you also don't need to stop eating foods that you love for the rest of your life. Terra offered some great links. Tom Venuto's book is great! What does your diet look like now? I used to weigh more than you and lost it slowly by slowly cutting out some foods and gradually introducing weight lifting and exercise. Taking little steps is the best bet for sticking with it...good luck!
