MAN I wish we had good music like this over at my gym. All these tards in my weight room play Justin Crediblygay (Timberlake  ) **** all the time. It pisses me off. Then they all look at me wierd when I pop in a Godsmack CD.
Goddamnit lifting is not the time for senseless music like that ****!!!

this is kind of an old post now, but its still important. when i go the gym i expect to hear music that actually gets my adrenalin going, or music that inspires me. but what have i had to listen to in nearly every gym ive ever been to? hip-hop and other **** music. now, i just dont understand why an owner of a gym would allow that. anyway, what do u guys listen to when u work out? static-x has got to be the best. any recommendations? how about some music similar to static, or some kick-ass bands that arent so mainstream? thanks. peace.

Fintroll
ForeFarther
Gojira
Rise Against
Stormlord (latest album)
Vader
Vesperian Sorrow
Wintersun
Or just this:

I have the same old complaints of my gym: the motivation in there is so low that you could get a better workout walking through the produce section of your local market. The owner of the gym is opposed to changing anything, and doesn't truly care about the clients--he's just lookin to turn a buck (understandable, but I think he's in the wrong business personally).
The radio is in the manager's office, and only 2 stations come in anyhow. No one has access to play the tunes they want. Not that big a deal, just bring your headphones. But we all know it's more fun to just toss a CD on and pump it through the speakers.
My selections:
*amon amarth (saw someone else listed amon as well, +1 to you)
*dimmu borgir
*all that remains
*disturbed
*5 finger death punch
*tool
*Type O Negative
*Godsmack
*6gig
*the showdown
*pro pain
*cradle of filth
*alter bridge (only a couple tracks actually do it for me)
*adema
*metallica
*crossbreed
*arsis
*the dead season
*die krupps
I could probably go on forever. I usually make a playlist of about 30 tracks, change it up every few weeks. It's usually a combination of rock/metal/black metal/hardcore/thrash etc
++Also giving +1 to people who listed Alice In Chains, they are my favourite band--although I don't often listen to them when I workout.
Sidenote: anyone else got a buddy that only wants to workout to rap music? lol that drives me nuts. I like rap as much as the average white guy, but come one...I cannot workout listening to it.

Strong phucking bump. I don't own a portable MP3 player so I'm stuck with whatever the gym plays. My gym usually plays testicle-retracting pop though, so I play songs in my head from memory. It's mostly metal, punk and its off-shoots, and trance.

You can get an mp3 player on Ebay for under $10.00, similar to an Ipod Shuffle. It's been years since I bought mine but it was like 99 cents with 4 or 5 dollar shipping from China. It's worked for 2 or 3 years with no problems.
Oh, and lifting in my garage FTW. My music, as loud as I want!
