are gravity boots good. i was thinking of buying some to stretch out my spine. i have also heard that they can make you taller is this true.

They will NOT make you any taller, at least not noticeably.
They will allow you to decompress your spine, more in the lower back and decreasing towards the head.
I use them for this purpose and to do some crunches.
If you have never tried them, try them first. It can be a very disconcerting feeling being hung upside down. Some people cannot handle it very well and get a headache from it.
I use mine with my VKR chin /dip station and still feel like it will tip over, even though I know it won't.
Unless you have used them in the past and know that you like them, you can buy and inexpensive inversion table for less than boots and a chin station that will hold up to a 250lb person and get similar results.
I had the VKR first and knew I wanted the boots as I used them when younger. It is also a trick to get out of them so tie some kind of rope to the bar to pull yourself up until you can actually touch your toes (not likely for a while)
