In regular weight training (as opposed to circuit training), is it still effective to let your heart rate drop between sets so that you're not sweating at all?
I went with a male friend of mine to the gym and I'm used to doing circuit training with high reps and lower weight. But we did it his way with low reps and higher weight and we would take turns with one machine and while I was resting from my set, he would be working out his set and vice-versa (we did 3 sets: 12-10-8 reps with more and more weight--it was tough--our heart rates did go up while we were lifting, of course....). But in between sets, I found myself standing there and didn't feel tired overall and wasn't sweating. The next day, I was only a bit sore.....
Should we have done it a bit faster to keep our heart rates up in order for the workout to be more effective, albeit not as fast as circuit training but still enough that we're sweating? Were we too slow and relaxed between sets?
