Hello all! I received my little jug of the reformulated Ragnarok today from the folks at Millenium Sports - Warrior Melon Flavor. Thanks guys for selecting me to test your product!!
For all the scientifically minded folks, here's the link to the product in the store: http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/ms/rag.html
Now, I have to admit, I've used Ragnarok before - the old formula. While I really liked the effects, I hated the taste!! BLEH! Also, it tended to not mix as well as other powdered supplement's I've tried. Now, hopefully, this newly refined formula will have all of it's bases covered!! I do have to say that I was pleased with the effects of the old model of Ragnarok. The biggest thing I noticed, as opposed to NO-Explode, is that my body never seemed to build up a tolerance to Ragnarok. That, in itself, is a huge plus to me. When you have to use your supplement money wisely, the last thing you want to happen is for the stuff to stop working before you're done with the bottle!
Right now, I am just playing around in the gym this week - giving my body a bit of a break so I can go all out with a new DC training cycle starting next week. My split will be the traditional M, W, F DC split, with cardio mixed in. I intend on taking Ragnarok on both my DC iron days, as well as on those days I'm in the gym for cardio only. My off days, will be "off" of the supplement as well. I'm hoping this new Ragnarok will help me really push the envelope on this cycle of DC training, as I prepare for the IMPC competition.
Beginning next week (Monday) I'll be posting both my workouts and my reviews here in this log, as well as in my regular journal - the link is found below - in the over 35 section.

It was back to the gym for me tonight for another blast of DC! New gym, new blast. It was good to get back at it. Being at the new gym the only issues were trying to find the right equipment, and if they didn't have it, finding a substitute. But, all in all, it was a pretty good workout!
Pre-workout - Ragnarok Warrior Melon, 1.5 scoops.
I took this at what I assumed would be 20 minutes or so before I started lifting. It ended up being nearly an hour before I was able to start. Sigh.
Anyway - tonight was chest, delts, tris, back width, back thickness
DC language:
RPs= Rest pause (15 breaths between the sets)
SS= Straight Set
Warm ups not included.=
Incline Smith Bench Press - 265lbs 9/4/2 RPs
Extra Chest Exercise - Machine Flyes - 150lbs 30 reps
Extreme Stretches
DB Shoulder Press - 70lbs 10/4/3 RPs :)
Extreme Stretches
Abs - Machine Crunches - 70lbs 2x20
Hammer Strength Seated Dips - 250lbs 13/7/5 RPs - this replaces the parallel bar dips. Wasn't sure where to start on these.
Extreme Stretches
Close Grip Cable Pulldowns - 145lbs 11/5/4 RPs - learned once again that all cable machines are not created equal - I was "pulling" 200 on these at the Y.
Smith Machine Bentover Rows - 205lbs SS 12/10. This replaced the T-bars as they don't have an aparatus. I thought of trying to find a bar to put in a corner, but the way the place is laid out, it might be difficult. Additionally, it didn't appear that they had any extra bars.
Extreme Stretches
Observations - the short time I wasn't doing DC caused my brain to forget how painful the stretches can be!
Supplement Review - Ragnarok. Like I said earlier, I took it almost an hour before I was able to actually start working out. It didn't seem to have too much of an effect. My focus was a tad off from the times I used this supplement before, but I think that may have been the result of figuring out where things are in the gym. My strength was awsome! The nine days I went without it I sure felt a difference in strength and endurance. It seemed to be back up, although by the time I was getting to the back exercises, particularly the rows, I was running out of gas. I'm sure if I'd started working when I had intended on doing it, things would have turned out better. But, not a bad day. One thing that bothered me with the first batch of Ragnarok was the taste = horid! The new formulation is MUCH better. It also mixes up much better than the first product. Good stuff guys!
Back to the gym on Wednesday - until then!

Solid workout Mark! A new gym can be exciting and overwhelming at the same time. You did great.
So the flavor went from "horid" to just MUCH better? I'll take much better but was hoping for WOW.

Hey Matt - I thought a WOW would be forced. Actually, I think this new flavor is VERY good. No need to mix it with anything else, like Crystal Light, to get it down, either. ;)
By the way - I was in the local BB.com store this afternoon - and sold a jug of the stuff to someone looking for a pre-workout drink. He was tired of NO-Explode, and was considering "Shotgun" or something. I convinced him this was MUCH better. :D

Pre workout - 1.5 scoops of ROK 30 minutes before hitting the gym. By the time I got there, I was definately ready to go.
DC night - bi's, forearms, calves, hams, quads
RPs= Rest Pause
SS=Straight Set
EZ Bar Curls - 105lbs 9/4/3 RPs
Extreme Stretches
Hammer Curls - 65 12 reps, SS. My grip gave out before my arms did. I don't think I waited long enough between the ez bar curls and these.
Standing Calf Raises - 360lbs 12 DC reps (explode up, 5 seconds to the bottom, hold for 15 seconds.) I did them on this funky plate loaded squat machine, thing. Standing at an odd angle - sort of leaning forward. But this was another I felt incredibly strong on.
Sumo Ham Press - 360lbs two straight sets 10 and 8 reps each. This was also a different apparatus than I'm used to, with a bit of a different angle. Couldn't do as much weight as at the old gym - about 85lbs less than the last volume set weight. But man did my hams feel it!
Extreme Ham Stretches
ATG Squats - 275lbs 8 reps - 4 minute rest. Dropped the weight to 225 and did the widowmaker of 20 reps. I was huffing like a freight train by the time I was done.
Sat in the hot tub to finish off the night.
Review
I felt really focused and strong tonight. I loaded the 105 on the ez curl bar and had great form throughout. I didn't have the urge to cheat at all. After noticing the drop in energy and strength when I went off the ROK for nine days, I was really glad to feel it back tonight, working it's magic. It doesn't seem to take long for this sup to kick in, for me, anyway. Thank goodness it gave me the fuel to finish those widowmakers. The last few reps are a bit fuzzy in my memory.
That's it folks! Later!

Workout 3A Chest, Shoulders, Tris, Back
20 minutes before workout - 1.5 scoops of Ragnarok - Good stuff maynard! :) I find the 20 minutes is about the right time for me to feel it start to kick in.
RPs= rest pause
SS=Straight Set
DB Flyes - 70lbs 11/6/5
Coupled with Hammer Strength Incline Press - 90lbs on each side - 15 straight reps, then 4 more. Too heavy after the flyes. I was supposed to get around 28 - 30 straight reps. I'm going to replace the DB flyes, as much as I love them with Hammer Strength Decline Press. Despite the fact that I had too much weight on this secondary exercise, I sure nailed the chest.
Extreme Stretches
Hammer Strength Shoulder Press - 90lbs on each side 11/6/5 RPs. This gym has a lot of Hammer Strength equipment in it, which I've never been exposed to. Oh, man! I love this particular machine! Hit the delts perfectly. Every H.S. machine I've used I've really liked.
Extreme Stretches
Cable Skull Crushers - 72.5lbs 14 reps. Too light. 77.5lbs 7/4 all RPs. Better weight. New machine and wasn't sure where to start. Good burn at failure, though, on each of these.
Extreme Stretches
Rack Chins - BW + 45lbs 10/6/4 RPs
Rack Deads. After warm ups. 315lbs 2 straight sets 11 & 10 reps each
Extreme Stretches
Really an awesome workout tonight. Ah, I've fallen in love with DC training once again. And the Ragnarok is certainly helping me along the way. I was feeling really strong, and attribute this to the extra umph I get from this supplement.
Afterwards, I went over to the juice bar area and had my simple carb, BCAA's and protein shake. I've decided to accelerate the training a bit by hitting the workouts every other day, which will include working on a Saturday or Sunday, depending on how things work out. Typically, with this routine, it's a MWF scheme. I feel like my recovery ability is working in top form, so I'm gonna push it a bit. My last cycle of ROK my recovery ability seemed to imporove greatly, so I'm hoping it will hold true to fom. I'll still have a rest day in between each of my workout days.

Nice to see you here, Ed. This is my second time around with the ROK. I liked the effects of the first version, but the taste was, well, doggie doo! Also, it didn't mix that well. This is a reformulated version - new, good flavor, and finer milling of the stuff has made a big difference.

Workout 1B - bi's, forearms, calves, hams, quads
1.5 scoops of Ragnarok 15 minutes prior to workout.
RPs= rest pause
SS= straight set
Standing DB Curls - 60lbs 10/5/4 RPs- felt kinda weak on these - I've done more. Of course, I was at the gym quite a bit earlier than usual, and that tends to make a difference for me.
Hammer Curls - 60lbs 11 ss reps
Extreme Stretches
Hammer Strength "Super Horizontal Calf Press" (I have no idea what the "super" is) - 360lbs 11 DC calf reps. OW!
Gironda Leg Curls - 100lbs 23 SS reps
Leg Press - Heavy Set - 805lbs 8 reps  :D This is a DC PB by 60lbs! Thankfully, this is the same leg press they have at the old gym, so I knew how to use the damn thing. They have two others that the release/loch mechanism is far to complicated for this feeble mind... which at first thought it was doing 720... I really need to learn how to add.
Leg Press - Widow Maker - 675lbs 20 reps  Another DC PB by 45lbs! Now what makes these a bigger deal to me is that this is the first pass on this blast. I'm supposed to have a PB on either the weight or the reps every time, but this was a biggie.
Finished up with the Extreme Stretches for both Hams and Quads.
Ragnarok - I hit the gym with less than optimal food and water intake today due to sleeping in a bit. I felt sluggish when I first started, but once I got through the first exercise, I could feel the Ragnarok kicking in... a bit later than usual. Could have something to do with food and water intake. But as the workout progressed, I noticed my focus was intense... as was my aggression. I think it was probably a good thing the gym wasn't crowded today, as I could have easily torn someone's head off! :D Feeling ok, now. Who knows.
That's it from here. Next workout is Tuesday.

DC night - workout 2B - Chest, shoulders, tris, back
RPs= rest pause
SS= straight set
Preworkout - 1 scoop of Ragnarok 15 minutes before the workout. I dropped it back to one scoop to see what the difference would be between one scoop and 1.5. Honestly, I didn't notice too much difference. Maybe a tad off on focus, but energy & strength were up there. My recovery seemed to lag a tad, as well. Not sure if it is related, or because I had to get my workout in quickly as I had an evening meeting to get to.
Hammer Strength Isolateral Banch Press - 133lbs on each side. 11/7/5 RPs. Never used this machine before - oh man... I love the feel of these hammer strength machines. Need to bump the weight up, obviously, on this one.
Machine Flyes - secondary pec exercise - 160lbs 27 straight reps  chest was fried after this.
Extreme stretches
Smith Shoulder Press - 205lbs for 9 reps. Rested for the 15 breaths and didn't have it in me for another set... so I dropped it to 185lbs for 5/3 RPs.
Extreme streteches
Abs
Smith CGBP - 205lbs 9/4/3 RPs
Extreme streteches
Cable Pulldowns - 145lbs 10/5/5 RPs. This one is definately an ego buster as at the old gym I was pulling 205 or so. The set up on this one is just different, I guess. Great squeeze at the bottom of these, and stretch at the top.
Cable Rows - 200lbs 10/8 SS.
Extreme streteches
Ragnarok review: As noted earlier I cut back on the dosage just to see what the effect would be. A bit off on the focus and recovery, but that may have been more "me" knowing I had to hurry up to get everything in. I'll keep this dose for the next few workouts and see what happens.

Holy pec poundage!
Hey Mark I read something interesting on RP. Typically with DC we do 1 set, 15 sec rest then 2nd set, rest 15 sec then 3rd. Well I read a variation that on set before the 3rd set you rest 30 seconds. You supposedly hit different muscle fibers. I am debating switching to this because the last set typically only get one or two reps.

Oh, definately! I just try to follow what Dante is preaching as closely as I can. He keeps saying don't tweek... I've put the system together to get you guys to build as much lbm as you possibly can, yadda, yadda. But, that doesn't mean trying something different won't add something for you. Everyone is a bit different.
Cardio yesterday - 45 minutes on the treadmill. 3.7 mph, alternating between 10% and 15% grade. Followed by 10 minutes doing a slow ride on the recumbant bike until the Mrs was ready to leave.
1 Scoop of Ragnarok beforehand. I've used the ROK only one other time as a pre-cardio supplement. Glad I did. I usually hate cardio, and I seem to tire easily with it. This time around, I had no fatigue issues, and could have gone longer. Endurance was good. :)

DC workout 3B - biceps, forearms, hams, quads
1 heaping scoop of Ragnarok 30 minutes before hand.
Close Grip, Prone Incline BB Curls (EZ Bar) - 90lbs (pb on the weight) 11/7/5. Rested too long between first and second rest pause set because I was having difficulty with the bench, itself.
Behind the Back barbell curls - 145lb on the ez curl bar - 2 straight sets 15 and 10. I know - only supposed to be one.
Extreme Stretches
Seated Calf Raises - 135lbs. Four straight sets with 30 second rests 15/20/15/20. Not proper for DC , I know, but every time I tried to hold the stretch my right calf would cramp! WTF?! But doing normal reps didn't bother it. I didn't want to reduce the weight - (I know I should have)
Calf Stretches
Seated Leg Curls - 150lbs 20 straight reps.
Hack Squats (love this particular machine - very comfortable to use) - Heavy set - 250lbs 10 reps (should have gone heavier). Widowmaker - 200lbs for 20 reps. Again, should have gone heavier.
Ok, trying to bring my legs up, so I added another quad movement:
Leg Extensions - 170lbs 30 reps. OMG! My quads were burning!! I'll keep adding weight and reducing reps on these until I can only get 8 of these buggers.
Extreme Stretches for hams and quads.
PWO dried pineapple and protein shake, then 20 minutes in the hottub.
RAGNAROK Review
I think sticking with the one heaping scoop is sufficient for me. I like to get to the gym within 15-20 minutes of taking it. Well, because of a snafu with my sons report card, and the Mrs. having a "talk" with him, it was about 30 minutes before we got there... maybe a little more. I was CHOMPING AT THE BIT to get there. I was feeling extremely amped up, and agressive. Probably a good thing David was talked to by mom, instead of me!
That's it from here!

DC workout 3B - biceps, forearms, hams, quads
Behind the Back barbell curls - 145lb on the ez curl bar - 2 straight sets 15 and 10. I know - only supposed to be one.
Hack Squats (love this particular machine - very comfortable to use) - Heavy set - 250lbs 10 reps (should have gone heavier). Widowmaker - 200lbs for 20 reps. Again, should have gone heavier.
Leg Extensions - 170lbs 30 reps. OMG! My quads were burning!! I'll keep adding weight and reducing reps on these until I can only get 8 of these buggers.
how do you do behind the back bb curls?

Starting the cycle over... back to workout 1A - Chest, Shoulders, Triceps, Back
Forgot the Ragnarok today. Definately didn't have the endurance I needed. By the time I got to the back, I was wiped out.
2 Change - decided to drop the Incline Smith in favor of the Hammer Strength incline. Also dropped smith rows in favor of HS lateral rows.
H.S. Incline Bench - 139lbs on each side. 9/4.5/3 RPs
Supplemental Chest exercise - Machine Flyes - 165lbs 25 straight reps - up 5lbs, down two reps.
Extreme Stretch
DB Shoulder Press - 70lbs 10/5/3 RPs - up two reps from last time.
Supplemental Delt Exercise - DB Side Laterals - 20lbs 2x15 (slow reps). Damn my shoulders were burning!
Abs
Extreme Stretch
H.S. Seated Dips - 278lbs 11/6/4 RPs - up 28 flipping pounds and 1 rep from last time!! WTF!
Nature called... then forgot to stretch my triceps :D I know TMI... ;)
CG Pulldowns - 150lbs 10/5/4 RPs - up 5lbs, down 1 rep.
H.S. Lateral Row - 242lbs 2x10
Extreme Stretch
Good workout, despite forgetting the Ragnarok. Just in too big of a hurry, I guess.
That's it folks. Hope you all have a wonderful Easter!

Hey, Tim! Yah, I am loving the Hammer Strength equipment. I find that if I allow the weight to push my arms WAAAAY back up, and then press back down again, I get one hell of a tricep workout. I also sit up as straight as possible to take my pecs out of the exercise as much as I can. This Golds doesn't have a dip tower, so I can't do my usual parallel bar dips. :(
So, on to today's fun:
DC work out 2A
Ragnarok 15 minutes prior to starting workout. Should have taken it a tad earlier as it didn't seem to really kick in until I'd finished the first exercise.
EZ Bar Curls - 105lbs 9/5/4 RPs, up two total reps.
DB Pinwheel Curls - 65lbs 13 reps (ss) up one rep.
Extreme Stretches
Standing Calf Raises 380lbs 12 DC reps. Seemed easy at first, but by #7 or 8, I really started feeling it. Rested for two minutes then did one set of 20 reps w/ 180lbs.
Sumo Ham Press - 375lbs 2x15 straight sets (did an extra set), up 15lbs.
Squats (below parallel) 295 lbs 1x8. Up 20lbs
Squat Widow Maker (below parallel) - 235lbs. 20 reps. Up 10lbs
Leg Extensions (additional quad exercise) 175lbs for 27 reps. Not as much of a burn this time, but damn those last two were tough!!
Extreme Stretches for hams and quads.
Finished with my dried pineapple, BCAA Caps, and protein drink. Then 30 minutes in the hot-tub and pool. :)
Ragrarok Seemed like it didn't kick in as fast as usual tonight. I ate about an hour before working out, and 45 minutes before taking the ROK. This may have played a part, but I'm not sure. I usually have an extra half hour in there before taking the supplement. But, by the time I finished the EZ Bar Curls, I was back in the ROK zone.

Wednesday's training. DC Workout 3A - Pecs, delts, tris, back
RPs - Rest Pause
SS - Straight set
Ragnarok - 1 heaping scoop 20 minutes before starting.
H.S. Decline Bench Press - 128lbs each side. 10/5/4 RPs - too long of a rest as someone was trying to talk to me. First time doing declines on the H.S. equipment.
Machine Flyes - Supplemental Chest Exercise - 170lbs 25 reps SS. Burn baby burn.
Extreme Stretches - seemed harder this time.
H.S. Shoulder Press - 100lbs on each side - 10/4/2.5 RPs
Rear Delt Machine - Supplemental Shoulder Exercise - 100lbs 30 reps SS.
Extreme Stretches
Cable Skull Crushers - 77.5lbs 12/6/5 RPs. Too long of a rest again before the last set, gave me a couple more reps.
Extreme Stretches
Rack Chins - BW +55 lbs - 10/5/3 RPs. I was huffing like a freight train when I finished these.
Rack Deads - 340lbs 2 straight sets - 9/9. Happy with these, although the "lift off" wasn't the pretties.
Ragnarok Review - Felt primed for some heavy work as I hit the gym. I was REALLY happy with the HS shoulder presses - a PB for me. Also, the Rack Deads - never done that weight for 9 reps and two sets. I've lifted 365 for 5 reps once. So, happy with that as well. Felt sustained throughout the workout. Only time I felt I was dragging a bit was after the rack chins - so I took and extra minute or two to get my breath back.
Since I'm going to the expo tomorrow, a normal training day, I may just hit tomorrow's DC training tonight. We'll see.

Workout 1B - biceps, forearms, calves, hams, quads:
Forgot the Ragnarok, I was in too big of a hurry getting out of the house tonight.
At lunch time today, I did a little "pondering" regarding DC. It's a great program... but, as they say, I believe you can always build a better mouse trap! I'm gonna start tinkering here and there with it. While it is a great workout, when I'm done, I always feel like I have more fuel in the tank. I go to failure on the rest pause sets... but my recovery and stamina is pretty damn good. So, if there's more fuel, why not burn it up?! I know - many might say more isn't always better. But I'm in tune with my body pretty well now, and know what I can take on, usually. I know how to take it up to the edge, but not too far. So, that's what I'm gonna do - perfect some tweaking I've already been doing.
So, on with tonight's workout, with some tweaking already done.
Standing DB Curls 60lbs - 11/5/4 RPs, up one rep.
Hammer Curls - 60lbs 12 SS
Supplemental bicep work
Life Fitness Machine Bicep Curls - 90lbs 2x15. 30 seconds rest between. First set - a little burn and pump. Second set - definately burn and major pump. This is my first tweak that I've been thinking about. Lets admit it - everyone likes the muscle pump. There typically isn't much of a pump with DC training... but from some reading I've done, and just my own conjecturing, I can't help but believe that pumping extra blood into the muscle at the end of it's direct work, has to be good for it... carrying the nutrients, fuel, etc., it needs to begin it's recovery process. Nothing necessarily scientific about this hypothesis... just my own "feeling," so to speak.
Extreme Stretches
Hammer Press Seated Calf Press - DC style - 370lbs 10 Reps (up 10 lbs). Followed by a supplemental set - of 20 straight reps.
Gironda Leg Curls - 100lbs 1 straight set of 28. Supplemental - 2nd set, 105lbs 13 reps.
Extreme Stretches
H.S. Leg Press, heavy set - 800lbs 9 reps. This was a different press, and with the weights ended up being 5lbs lighter, so I did an additional rep. Experienced some pain in my right knee, on the inside of my leg for the first couple of reps.
H.S. Leg Press, Widow Maker - 640lbs 20 reps. More pain - brief - just the first rep or two. Odd.
Supplemental Quad Work -
Leg Extensions 190lbs 2x15. Last time I did one straight set for as many reps as I could... at 170lbs. The 2x15 was an intentional number on these, with heavier weight.
Extreme Stretches.
Well, that's it for now. Despite not taking Ragnarok today, I felt incredibly strong and had great recovery. The entire workout lasted 50 minutes.

Ragnarok - 15 minutes before workout. Since I'm on the road, I used the blueberry sample that was sent to me. Yummy! :D
Biceps, forearms, calves, hams, quads:
Found a cool little gym to go to, and only had to substitute one planned exercise because of a lack of equipment. I did leg presses instead of hack squats. This is using the scheme outlined in the spreadsheet found in my regular journal, workout 3B:
Close Grip Prone Incline BB Curls - 95lbs 11/5/5 RPs - up 5lbs from last time, but still too light. Max was supposed to be 20 total reps.
Behind the back wrist curls - 145lbs two straight sets of 15 and 10. Second set I couldn't get my grip just right on the ez curl bar, thus the lower number. :(
Seated Incline DB Curls 40lbs 2x12. Awesome pump and burn. :D
Extreme Stretches for arms
Hammer Strength Seated Calf Raises 150lbs 12 reps DC style. Followed by a 60 second rest and two straight sets of 20 reps. This was an older model than what is at Golds at home. It seemed to have been around the block a few times, but it worked well.
Hammer Strength Seated Leg Curls - 135lbs 2 straight sets of 15. Older machine, again, but man did it kick my as*!
Extreme Stretches
Leg Press Heavy Set 845lbs for 9 excruciating reps.
Rest 5 minutes
Leg Press - Widow Maker Set 690lbs 20 reps.
Rest - 5 minutes
Leg Extensions - 180lbs 2x12. That last set was a killer. I like it! :D
Extreme Stretches
Drank my PWO drink, took my BCAA's and walked very slowly back to the hotel.
Ragnarok Certainly no complaints here. I think the sample may have been a bit less of a dosage than the heaping scoop I use at home. But energy and focus levels were really good. My curl strength continues to climb, and my presses went very well today. I think with this adjusted training scheme, Rok is going to continue to serve me well, especially as it relates to sustained energy, as well as recovery.
That's it from Big Sky Country. Now off to the hot tub!

Well, I made it back home. Tonight was workout 1A - chest shoulders, tris, back - width and thickness. The Mrs began training with me again, after taking a break from weights for two weeks to rehab some funky aches and pains. She's doing a run of straight DC this time around! So, on to my workout.
Preworkout - Ragnarok - 1 heaping scoop - 15 minutes prior to starting.
H.S. Incline Bench - 144lbs on each side. 9/3/1.5 RPs. This was up 5lbs per side and a PB! :D
Machine Flyes - 195lbs 2x15 - up 5lbs
Extreme Stretches
DB Shoulder Press - 70lbs 10 reps. Then when I went to do the second rep, my right arm kinda tipped to the side on the first rep and I fought to get it straight again, which caused me to lose control of the left db! DAMN I was pissed. I tried to do a set immediately after this and could only get 2 reps. The struggle drained me and I had to rest to get any gas back again. Did two more RP sets - the first was for 6, and the 2nd was for just 2 reps.
Rear Delt Machine - 120lbs 2x12
Extreme Stretches
H.S. Seated Dips - 280lbs 11/5/5 RPs. Rested a tad too long on teh last rest pause, thus the 5 reps. But it was UP 10 lbs and a PB!! :D
Overhead Rope Extensions - 100lbs 15 & 10 straight sets, 30 second rest.
Extreme Stretches
CG Pulldowns - 155lbs 9/5/4 RPs - up 5lbs, PB!
H.S. Seated Rows 125lbs 12/10, 2 straight sets. up 10 lbs on each side. PB!
Extreme Stretches
Ragnarok - Despite the great numbers tonight, I honestly didn't feel much off of the Ragnarok, except for the pump during my tricep work. It may have been the fact that I was working with Steph tonight, not sure. This is the first time I've taken it and didn't really notice feeling anything. Review Felt really good with the workout yesterday - and I needed it. The Ragnarok had me primed and ready to go.
I had my bf % tested yesterday. This was the first time at this gym that I was tested... and I was not happy. First, the trainer that did it, well, it was obvious in our conversation that I knew more about training than he did! Then, he wouldn't test me in the same places that I was tested last time. Lastly, the % was much higher than last time around on the four point test, even though I appear to be leaner in the mirror. I was rather upset about it (the old "your nothing but a a fat ass" rose to the top of my head). I was up on the weight too, which I already knew from my own scale. Not a good time. :( Now I suppose it could be that he didn't know what he was doing plus the fact that he tested different spots made the difference. But I'm still not happy about it.
Well, that's it from here. Until next time.

A couple of times - but we dropped our cable, so no more good stuff.
Workout 3A Chest, Delts, Tris, Back width and thickness.
Ragnarok - two scoops 20 minutes prior to workout.
RPs = rest pause
SS = straight set
H.S. = Hammer Strength
Extreme Stretches done after each group
Chest:
H.S. Decline Press - 138lbs on each side, 10/5/3 RPs (up 5lbs - PB)
H.S. Decline Press - 138lbs - SS - 6 reps after 1 minute rest.
Machine Flyes - 195lbs 2x12 SS - up 5lbs
Delts:
H.S. Shoulder Press - 105lbs 9/3/2 RPs
DB Laterals - 20lbs 2x12 SS - nice slow reps - burn baby burn!
Tris:
Cable Skull Crushers 77.5lbs 13/6/3 RPs
Rope Pressdowns 90lbs 1x12, 80lbs 1x12 SS - different cable machine, and the "weight" wasn't the same as there were a different number of pullys.
Back Width & Thickness:
Weighted Rack Chins: - BW +55lbs 12/5/5. I was puff'n like a freight train when I was done with these.
Straight Arm Pressdowns - 80 2x12 SS
Rack Deads wait for it... wait for it... 365lbs 1x8 & 1x9 SS - NEW PB by 25lbs. :D I did 340 last time... and I had done 360 once for 8 reps (one time only), so I was jacked about this. Needless to say, I was out of gas by the end.
Ragnarok Review I've bumped the dosage up to 2 scoops. Seems like the heaping scoop just wasn't doing it for me anymore. I think this is to be expected, especially since I've been on the "rag" for some time, before this test on the new formulation. Despite having to boost the dosage, it has taken a LONG time to get to this point. Best product, of any I've tried in a similar class, by far. :D
Well, that's it from here. I've noticed on this hybrid scheme I've put together, that I'm getting DOMs once again. I had them in my legs on Sunday, although not extreme. With the straight DC training, I seldom get DOMs at all.

Leg Press Heavy Set - 850lbs 10 SS
4.5 minute rest
Leg Press Widow Maker - 710lbs, 20 reps, SS. OMG! At 16 I thought I was gonna hurl, and wouldn't be able to finish. This is a PB for me on the weight for 20 reps. I wasn't about to quit at 16, but had to reach deep to get those last few.
5 minute Rest
Seated Leg Extensions - 195lbs 2x12
Stretches
I was toast.
Ragnarok Review - Great workout, and awesome mental focus. Had the strength and then some I needed for the leg presses, and could have gone heavier on the "heavy" set. Sorry to see the tub getting close to being empty, though. :(
Well, that's it for now!
Later.

Was supposed to hit the gym tonight, but my lower back has been a bit sore, and as the day progressed, it seemed to get worse. So, I'm taking a couple day hiatus and will hit the iron again on Monday. I've only got, maybe three dosages (two scoops) left in my tub. :( Oh well - I already know I'm gonna buy some blue raz!! Yummy stuff. Once I've finished up, I'll do a final review. :)

Real good weekend, Tim. Thanks. Back is feeling much better after resting it for a couple of days. Went to the gym and did a bit of cardio...
Two scoops of Ragnarok 20 minutes prior to start. I've used Ragnarok only a few times for cardio. Since I didn't do much this weekend, I needed to spend a little extra time and/or intensity with the cardio.
I used the Lifestyle tradmill - I really liked this one. The tread can go up to a setting of 30, and down to minus -3. I went 10 minutes at incline 12 at 3.5 mph, then bumped it up to incline angle 17 at 3.1 mph for 30 minutes, incline 20 for 5 minutes, and then slowed it down and took the angle back to 8 and just strolled for another 5 minutes. Good workout, I think. The Ragnarok kept my energy levels fueled, as well. I typically cannot go at that steep of an angle for that long of a time.
Well, that's it for now.
Later.

4/30/07 - Back to volume work for a bit - aka periodization. :D
Ragnarok 2 scoops, 20 minutes prior to workout.
Chest Day:
Hammer Strength Incline: 139lbs on each side. Four sets - 8/7/5/4. DAMN! That was a killer, first one out of the box.
Hammer Strength Horizontal Bench: 134lbs on each side 7 reps :( 124lbs each side 5 reps :( 99lbs each side 2x8. Inclines killed me, I think. But I don't care. I was having a great pump by this time, and was able to really squeeze the pecs at the top of the movement each time.
Hammer Strength Decline Bench: 93lbs each side, 4x8. Finally got the weight I wanted for four complete sets of 8. Squeezed the hell out of my boobies. :D
DB Flyes: 65lbs 2x8, 1x6.
Extreme Stretches - 60 seconds.
Man are my pecs fried. Should have some nice DOMs tomorrow as my reward.
Ragnarok Review: Oh man! I forgot about the pumps I can get with this stuff while doing volume work. Not only did my boobies feel huge, but I was pumped all over! Perfect endurance - recovery could have been a tad better, but maybe I was just not resting long enough.
Tomorrow I get to fry my legs.
Later!

Thanks, SC. I figured the inclines would take most of my strength. What I plan on doing is rotating the first of the pressing exercises so each will get my "all" in their due time.

Ok, volume leg night. Holy crap... I'd forgotten how this can take it out of me. I don't know what the hell I was thinking when I put shoulders in with them. Didn't do shoulders, after all. If I keep them in, I'll have to do them first. But I'll probably just move them elsewhere.
Anyway...
Ragnarok about 30 minutes prior to start.
Power Rack Squats - warm up 135lbs 1x10. 225lbs 2x12. I'm not sure what the problem was, but these really kicked my ass tonight! Weird... I hadn't planned on going heavy with these as I wanted to conserve energy for the next exercise, which was a new one that I didn't know how it would affect me.
Procor Super Squat Machine http://www.afproducts.com/showroom_product/512
So, I decided to see how this thing works. You can stand facing the pad, or stand with the pad against your back. Me? What do I do? How about both.
i=facing in; o=facing out. One minute between facing in and then out. Two minutes after each combo on the two upper weights.
180lbs 8 i reps/ 10 o reps. Hmm... not sure where the "inward" facing squats are tarketing... can definately get really low. One trainer I asked said it targeted the glutes.
270lbs 12 i reps / 12 o reps. The outward facing reps definately target the quads. I could feel it much more with this stance and weight.
360lbs 12 i reps / 12 o reps. This set kicked my as*!! :D
Sumo Leg Press - 350lbs 3x15. When I got done with these, my legs were shaking.
H.S. Calf Press - DC style - 380lbs 12 reps
H.S. Calf Press - 2x20
Seated Leg Curls - 140lbs 2x12.
Well, that's it. I was out of gas. No way in hel* that I was gonna do shoulders, as you can see. My legs shook the entire time I walked to the car. I'm so glad I decided NOT to ride my bike to the gym as a warm up. I wouldn't have made it home, lol! After my PWO shake, I thought I was gonna ralph... I haven't had this tough of a leg workout in a long time, even with DC and my hybrid program. :D
Ragnarok Review - not sure why I didn't have the energy I needed during my first exercise. I felt really beat. Funny thing was that I'd was so primed as I got to the gym, a typical Ragnarok effect. Once I got going on the second exercise, I was better. Odd. The pump in my quads and my calves was awesome! They still feel pumped and hour and 20 minutes after finishing.
Well, that's it.
Later!

The squat machine is pretty cool. I like you can go real heavy safely. Facing forward would seem odd to me though. How in the hell did you DC calf raise 380  thats crazy insane!

Yah, I think I like the machine, too. I probably could have gone a lot heavier had I not worked up in the weights at the pace that I did, plus doing free form squats first.
That 380 was on a seated hammer strength calf press... you load the plates on each side. It's weird as on some machines the weight is really high, on others, like the traditional seated calf raise, the weight is low. As far as how I did it... I just kept going - crying, but going. :)

I was doing DC calves yesterday and the gym worker gym comes over and see's I am in major pain and says "wooo bet those are frying" while looking at my legs. I didnt have anything witty to say just a "fuk ya they are" trying not to cry like a lil girl.

Shoulder night - after training my 10 year old. :)
Ragnarok - two scoops 40 minutes prior to working out... I took it before I realized I promised to train my 10 year old first. That's ok - priorities. :)
Hammer Strength Press - 100lbs each side - 4x8 :)
Arnold Presses - 50lbs 1x12, 1x10, 1x8 - short rest times, lowered the reps I could do each time.
db lateral raises 30lbs 1x8 - poor form. 25lbs 3x10. Ok, so I've noticed this the last two times I've done a DC blast - when I go back to volume on the isolation movements, I can't lift the amount I did last time around for good reps. The last time through volume work I was hitting 35lbs on the laterals for good form. WTF?! At least last time I was able to progress quickly.
Rear Deltoid Cable Cross 15lbs each side, 3x8. Damn this is a humbling exercise. It isolates the rear delts so well that you simply can't cheat... thus the lower weight.
Hammer Strength Shrugs 205 1x12, 295 2x12. I forgot how much I love these. I was going to do another set, but decided not to as the rack deads I do tomorrow will also hit the traps.
RAGNAROK REVIEW - As noted before, I took the scoops a bit too soon tonight. Although the initial buz had worn off by the time I got my son trained, I still had darn good endurance tonight. Well, looks like there's one more dose in the old jug. I'm hoping there are two full scoops, anyway. Sigh... tomorrow is back day, so I'm glad it's ending on this particular day where I need all the extra help I can get. Final review will follow.

Looks like all is well in here. Your sessions have been great Mark, very strong, way to go.
We've done a bit of tweaking on the newest batch of Warrior Melon and I think you'll find that the focus and drive effects have even more staying power now.
I'm glad to see that things have been going well since I've been away.

Yes, friends, it's a sad day... my last dose of Ragnarok. :(
Back Day
Ragnarok - two heaping scoops, 30 minutes prior to workout.
I was raring to go once I got in the gym.
Rack Chins - BW warm up - 1x8. BW + 45lbs 4x8. I was pretty winded by the time I got through the fourth set, but seemed to recover fairly quickly.
Close Grip Pull Downs - 130lbs 4x8
Straight Arm Press Downs - 70lbs 1x8, 80lbs 3x8
Rack Deadlifts - 135lbs 10 rep warm up. 225lbs 1x8, 315lbs 1x8, 325lbs 1x8, 335lbs 1x8, 355lbs 1x8 & 1x6. Only one minute rest between each set. I was breathing like a frick'n freight train by the time I was done!
Hammer Strength Seated Rows 135lbs on each independent handle - 3x8
Hyperextensions - BW 2x12, BW +35 2x12
Finished the evening with 20 minutes in the hot tub. :D
Ragnarok Review - I had a good level of energy throughout the workout tonight. Despite a couple of movements leaving me out of breath, I recovered pretty quickly. Total workout lasted 50 minutes.
I'm sad to see the end of this tub. I'll be posting a final review of the product either tomorrow night or this weekend. Right now, I'm pooped out! ;)
Later, folks!

First off, I want to thank the Millenium Sports for selecting me to run a test log of their Warrior Melon Ragnarok - thanks guys.
Ok - I'll admit it up front - I'm cheap. I don't want to spend money on a supplement that "might" help me a little. Other than protein powder and BCAA's I haven't stuck with any supplement more than one tub or bottle. Some months ago, at the urging of Barb and Spaceclown, I decided to give Ragnarok a shot. Two complaints at that time - the taste was HORRID (I tried both black cherry and the fruit punch) and it didn't mix that well. There was always residue at the bottom of the shaker bottle. At the same time, the product worked VERY well for me - it actually delivered what it said it would - drive, focus, energy, strength gains, endurance and recoverability. So, I learned to mix it with Crystal Light to make it bearable.
When I heared ROK had been reformulated to taste and mix better, I had my doubts as it was gonna take a LOT to make it taste good. I was also afraid that the "new" mixture would affect how the product itself worked. So, I threw my hat in the ring to be a tester to see how things had improved, and to give an unbiased opinion of how this supplement would work on someone approaching 40!
So, here's what I found:
First - to assess my biggest problems with the first product.
Taste 9/10
Ok, the ONLY reason I give it a 9 on the taste scale is that I am NOT a watermelon fan in the first place (real or artificial). But for someone like me to give the taste a 9 is saying a lot folks - I am VERY finicky when it comes to the taste of my foods.
Mixability 9/10
The new formula (actually just remilled as I understand it) mixes much, much better. Occasionally there would be a bit of residue at the bottom, but nothing outrageous by any stretch.
Energy, Focus & Drive: 10/10
From the first time I took this product, it kicked in within 15 to 20 minutes with an intensity I was not expecting. I've tried other "similar" products and their intensity was not nearly as high - and mind you, the intensity level I felt was with only one scoop. Taking this product I was amped up and READY to nail the iron.
Endurance: 10/10
My energy levels remained pretty much constant throughout my workouts. There was a bit of tapering off toward the end, but I still had sufficient that I could have kept going if necessary. Before using this tub of ROK, I went off of it for about a week (old flavor/mix) and my endurance tanked by the second day.
Recoverability: 10/10
By the time the next workout rolled around I was more than able to take it on with full strength. In fact, while I've never really struggled with my ability to recover, ROK seemed to speed things up for me. Note - I did not take ROK on my "off" days. Also, I changed up my routine from DC style training to a more traditional volume style.
Pump: 10/10
Ok, lets admit it... we all love the pump. When doing volume training, my pumps were truly incredible. I noticed pumps in my legs for the first time using Ragnarok - usually only noticed it in my arms and chest. Pumps are FUN! :D
Side Effects: 10/10
Didn't notice any side effects. In fact, if I took it too far in advance of my workout (e.g., an hour) I still felt it working.
Comparison: 10/10 This is the best pre-workout supp I've used. I've tried the "old standard" NO-Xplode, and Super Pump. With NO-Xplode - I kept having to increase the dosage to get the same effects as the first few doses. I found no true need to increase the dose with RAGNAROK. Admitedly, I did increase it up to two level scoops, I honestly didn't need to - I just wanted even more, I think! But this is a huge thing to me. I don't want to shell out my hard earned cash for a product that I am going to grow accustomed to before I even finish the tub! With Superpump - only one word in it's effect for me - Superdump! No thanks.
Product Rating: 10/10
For my money, this is definately the best product out there. I've referred several people at my gym, as well as at the local supplement store to this product. I know this review sounds like a bunch of hype - if you don't believe what I have to say, then just give it a try. At the same time, it doesn't matter what you think of my review... everything I've written is from my experience. Worth every penny! Now I need to get a tub of the Blue Raz!
I'm also gonna post this final review as a stand alone thread...
Later - and thanks again Matt and Tim!!
