I'ts just the starch from a particular variety of corn (maize). This particular corn produces a starch that is almost 100% amylopectin whereas other varies produce starch that is 70-80% amylopectin and the remaining 20-30% is amylose. WMS is supposedly so special because amylopectin digest much faster (high glycemic index) than amylose. So naturally, WMS is better (although marginally IMO) than regular cornstarch or other slower digesting carbohydrates post-workout.
