Why is Ivanko so popular in gyms? Are they the best around? Isnt a plate, just a plate? Why does it have to be IVANKO?
Dunno but I like the colour coded ones which are full of holes - much easier to handle.

We use ivanko because of their guarentee against rust etc, and their durability. Lack of rust and the rubberized coating keeps things looking a little nicer too.
That rubberized coating also has more of a chance of crushing rather then detaching extremities weights and plates are dropped on. They also wreck less havoc on our floors when boneheads throw the hundred+ lb dumbells to the floor from 5 ft in the air.
Problem is, has anyone ever done dumbell presses with 150lb ivanko dumbells? How are you supposed to get maximum contraction when the weight is so damn wide it meets quarter of the way up? That alone is pretty much our only complaint.

They are also well known for having the correct poundage. I helped with some weighing for a gym to check the 45 pound plates for accuracy. (They were York brand). The actual poundage ranged from 42-49 pounds!
Now each plate is marked with its actual poundage so you don't end up with a 6-7 pound difference on each end of the bar.
