Now that I've finally developed a good overall base after 2 years of training, I'm looking to work on a few of my weak areas. One is the overall thickness of my middle back muscles. I have good width and good lats, I just need more middle thickness. I usually do 4 sets of either barbell or dumbell rows and 4 sets of a pull-up variation. Any tips?

Try some sets of seated cable rows using the narrow neutral grip handle. Don't pull with your hands. Instead, pull with your elbows, all the way to your belly, trying to get your elbows as far behind you as possible.

get some heavy rows in, by pulling to the lower abs you'll target lower on the back, the higher you pull the more upper back.
