been a while since i've done a log. i'm doing this log because my joints are ****ty, and i'm curious if a 40% extract works better than 5%.
joint problem background: wore out the cartilage in my knees at 15. tore something in my right knee at 16. got kicked under the kneecaps while playing rugby at 18. have had popping and clicking joints in my wrists, elbows, knees, ankles, and a little bit of "looseness" in my shoulders for quite some time.
slipped a disc in my upper back when i was 19. separated a disc in my lower back at 20. i'm unable to do squats due to my lower back and overall knee weakness. typically i do 5 plates on the hammer leg press, but lately my knees have felt much more weak, dry, and burny than usual so tonight i just did 3 plates and it hurt.
like i mentioned in my application, i will be reviewing cissus only for it's joint healing properties. i have been making changes to diet and training, and so i don't think that i would be able to accurately guage it's effectiveness in that regard. if i gain an insane amount of weight i'll be sure to note that, but i would not be able to attribute any mild to moderate anabolic effects solely to cissus.
i have used 5% cissus in the past with good success. at the end of the month, i would compare the 40% to 5% as best as i can.
i will be flying to new hampshire tomorrow for a job interview so i may not update until saturday; not that it really matters since it typically takes a while for most joint supplements to give a noticeable effect.
feel free to ask any questions

my hotel room has free internet! woo!
update: i forgot to take cissus wednesday, and i just now took my first dose
if i flex my quads, my knees get so stiff and burny that i can only flex about 90% of the way. not cool

day 5 update
had a leg workout last night. knees were better than they have been over the last two weeks, but still not quite back to "normal." i'll see if this trend continues.
note: i don't think this improvement is due to cissus. with my previous cissus experience, my joints actually improved above my normal range. my current status is still within my typical range, so just because i have noticed an improvement it doesn't mean that it is because of cissus.

day 7 update
had a great leg workout today. was able to do 10 plates on hammer leg press, which is a little bit more than usual. knees still ache, pop, and burn, but knees felt strong today. it's too early to say if it's due to cissus, but we'll see soon.

It sucks when the thing that is holding you back is bad joints. Hopefully your knees improve :)

day 11 update
had a great leg workout today. knees were rather painful, though i was still able to push plenty of weight. at this point, i can't say if either i'm just having a few good knee days and cissus hasn't kicked in, or if i'm having bad knee days and cissus is helping. typically i have a bunch of bad days with a few good days sprinkled in, so in this month if i have more consistent good days then i'll know the cissus has worked; we'll see what happens.

what's worse is that my legs are far behind my upper body, and nagging joint injuries are preventing me from really being able to do something about it. my fingers are crossed that cissus will help

day 14 update
had a good leg workout earlier today. knees were feeling a little bit stronger than usual. even though i haven't been able to lift more i feel like i've been getting a better leg workout.

Nice. Even if you aren't pushing more weight you could still be getting better motion and contraction . Hope the improvement keeps up.

you're right. i think it's because my knee feels more capable of handling the weight, so i'm able to concentrate on properly contracting my quads.

day 18 update
knees felt a little weaker than usual today. i was struggling to push 8 plates on leg press, though my quads felt like they could probably handle 12 plates.

day 22 update
worked out at a different gym today; it'll be the gym i'll be joining as soon as i move. used a sled leg press instead of a pendulum leg press that i was used to. this leg press had the sled at a good angle, so i'm able to push the weight through my heels instead of toes.
knee tendons felt pretty strong. kneecaps were a bit achy due to lack of cartilage, but tendons were feeling strong. had to do stiff leg deadlifts instead of hamstring curls, and this usually pulls very hard on the tendons in the back of my knee and they quite often pop, however today i did not have any problem with that. not anything amazing, but much better than usual.
joint pain is the same as usual, but joints are feeling stronger which prevents my joints from having as big of an impact on my workouts. this is a big positive.

day whatever update
i forgot to post my update earlier this week. tendons seem to be maintaining a constant level of stability. it definately feels like my tendons are not holding me back. however, the pain in my joints from a lack of cartilage is still holding me back. yet i would still say that cissus has helped improve my workouts.
i'll be doing legs again tomorrow and that should be my last update.

last update
knees were very stiff today and wasn't able to lift as much weight as usual. it's not that they hurt or felt weak, i just couldn't get my knees to move as well, lol. still had a good workout and i'm pleased with the results from this stuff.

final thoughts
overall, i am very pleased with this product. i have used 5% cissus in the past and though it's hard to compare due to the qualitative and not quantitative nature of this product, i would say that this 40% extract was better. most notably was that i was able to notice effects much quicker. i noticed that the tendons around my knees, which usually give me problems, felt more stable which allowed me to handle more weight on leg press and i was able to work my hamstring without straining my knee.
this product did not do anything for the clicking or burning in my knees; it's not supposed to. it worked well for tendon-related issues but not cartilage. many people are quick to suggest cissus for all things joint related, but you really need to understand where your problems are coming from so that you can better know how to treat them.
all in all, i was surprised by how well this product worked. i was very weary at first since there's no scientific proof that a higher extract % would work better.

i figured it would be a good idea for me to update this log for the next few weeks to see if my joints continue to improve, stay the same, or decline.
last night i did legs and i noticed much more soreness around my knee, right in the spots were tendons connect to my knee. this is something that i did not notice while i was using cissus. i was still able to handle a fair amount of weight, but my knees didn't feel as stable as usual.
