My new experiment was spawned by my hero and mentor, Jim Stoppani, PhD, Science Editor for Muscle & Fitness and FLEX magazines. He is HUGE on ALCAR intake and has been researching Carnitine intake and insulin. It turns out that Carnitine intake into the muscle is dependent on insulin, something Chuck has been saying for a long time. His recommendation is the following:
Pre and Post Workout
3 grams Alcalean
600mg Pure ALA
Fast Carbs (weight and bodytype dependent)
20-40g Substance WPI
2 scoops Xtend
I have modified this to fit Scivation's diet theories to stay lean and gain mass. Here is what I will do:
Pre Workout
1 serving vasoXplode
20g Substance WPI
4 scoops Xtend
Post Workout
3 grams Alcalean
600mg Pure ALA
20g Substance WPI
4 scoops Xtend
This gives me a whopping dose of ALCAR and the BCAA and whey will cause a nice, accute insulin response rather than a biphasic response as elicited by fast carbs. I feel that this will help enhance the uptake of the Carnitine and help me stay leaner than if I were to have carbs.
My schedule will be full of travel and ROUGH, but here is my diet. I will be living on SLUDGE! I will call this the "SLUDGE DIET".
Meal 1: 2 scoops Substance WPI, 10g Glutaform, 20g Peanut Butter, 1 scoop Xtend
PREWORKOUT: 4 scoops Xtend, 1 scoop Substance WPI, 1 serving vasoXplode
POST WORKOUT: 4 scoops Xtend, 1 scoop Substance WPI, 600mg Alcalean, 600mg Pure ALA
Meal 2: 2 scoops Substance WPI, 10g Glutaform, 20g Peanut Butter, 1 scoop Xtend
Meal 3: 2 scoops Substance WPI, 10g Glutaform, 20g Peanut Butter, Green Beans, 1 scoop Xtend
Meal 4: 2 scoops Substance WPI, 10g Glutaform, 20g Peanut Butter, 1 scoop Xtend
Meal 5: 4oz Chicken, 2 whole eggs, Green Beans, 1 scoop Xtend
Meal 6: 2 scoops Substance WPI, 10g Glutaform, 20g Peanut Butter, 1 scoop Xtend
The peanut butter can be substituted for Enova Oil or Almonds for equal fat amounts.
I will update daily. My weight this morning is post-gluttony, so it was 196 of mostly water. Here is my pic from last Thursday:
