I have a competition in 3 weeks and have the following question:
On the morning of the show, I am gonna be eating some rice cakes BUT should those be with or without salt!? How much sodium do those cakes contain?

your sodium should be low the day before the show, for the morning of it helps to have some sodium an hour or too before the stage, it'll help the muscles fill up. My wife and i would eat some salt and vinager chips while pumping up. Don't over do it though.

As a natural BB the sodium will be a good thing the day of the show, no need to add it to your foods, but by using certain foods, it should be no major issue.
6 am- I like to have 4 oz steak with some sweet pot
830 am-1/2 protein bar and 1/2 banana
1030 am-4 oz steak and 1/2 c sweet pot, maybe small amount of PB
1230- 1/2 protein bar
30 min before stage- couple of ricecakes with PB and J and if cramping is occurring small amount of salt for you under the tongue to prevent cramping
sodium for the natural BB can range anywhere from near 3-4 g in the beginning of the week all the way down to 1.5-2 g on fri, no drastic drops and definitely not NO sodium for the last 3 days.
I did and usually do about 2500 mg's and maybe drop to about 1500-2000 on friday!

No sodium = No pump

You are so right for the natural bodybuilder!
If you guys really want pic up some really great advice about peaking or about contest prep read layne's article:
and also go to the man who wrote the book on perfect peaking for the natural BB/figure gal, no one knows more and has more knowledge about it through his research and personal experience. All you need is 2 doctorates, grad degree in physical therapy, his CSCS: and a list of other things:
just go to Dr. Joe Klemczewski's site:

Great advise, IF ur a natural which I am not!
Little salt I think hurt nobody on the day of the contest, I just wanted to see what th others are doing (salted or unsalted rice cakes)
