Hey guys i'm getting a little ahead of myself but here's the situation. I'm going to do a show on 3/23. 3 days later i'm going on vacation to florida for 6 days...returning 4/3. When I get back I am considering doing a show a little over 4 weeks later. The last thing I want to do is have my whole vacation revolve around eating 6 perfect pre-contest meals per day. Since i'll be in near-contest shape when I go down...what are some things I can take with me to maintain as close to my condition as possible?

I am driving down with one of my best friends and 5 girls (i know, i rule!). There's going to be 7 of us in a hotel room with 1 small refrigerator that is going to be jammed with alcohol. Anyways here were my thoughts about what I could bring that would help me preserve for a week.

Bring enough Met-RX mrps (i get them for less than $1 each with my employee discount) so that I can have 3 per day. I also picked up a 12 ct box of met-rx after fx protein bars with 34 grams protein and 13 g carb, 8 g fat. I was thinkin of having this as part of a meal if we don't get enough whole food meals which we inevitably wont.

Since my pre-contest diet is pretty much a keto diet, I was thinking of bringing a few containers of natural peanut butter and buying vegetables down there and dipping my veggies in peanut butter to get the fats. I'm bringing a bag of soy grits down for my breakfast - they have 21g protein, and only 7 grams of carbs and are much like oatmeal.

So my diet would look like this:

Breakfast:

1/2 cup soy grits
2 tbsp peanut butter
1/2 grapefruit

meal2
Met-rx MRP

meal 3
1 can tuna fish
4 cups salad w/o dressing

meal 4
met-rx mrp

meal 5
my cheat meal (hey, it's vacation)
so i'll probably get some sort of seafood pasta...just wont go overboard
Probably 4-5 drinks (alcoholic) <--i'm on vacation and there's no way i'll be deprived of having some drunken fun on the beach!

meal 6
met-rx mrp
peanut butter (to slow digestion overnight)

I realize this isn't the best possible but I will have to make due with what I have as I will not have access to a kitchen and wont have the storage available for eggs, beef, chicken, etc. I know this will set me back on my contest condition a few weeks but I figure i have over 4 weeks of strict dieting when I get back before my next show. I plan on just doing pushups, pullups, bodyweight squats, and bench dips...things I can do in a hotel room if there is not a gym available at the facility. What are your thoughts and advice on how far this will set me back?

Dude I say take a little break from dieting for those couple of days, don't go crazy but up your carbs a little bit, I mean your not gonna put on 5 lbs of fat in just that week. Besides you got another month to diet off whatever little fat you put on. Besides staying near contest bodyfat for a month is dangerous. BTW, where in florida you going?
Peace

Ya just reading what you guys are writing I feel much better. I'm sure 4 weeks of intense dieting will take off what I put on - i'll just make sure I don't pig out too much! I'll be on Daytona Beach from 3/27-4/3.

Anyone been there and can recommend some great night life?

I don't know about daytona beach but if you happen to get in the St. Pete Tampa bay area, I can show you how we party there!

Hate to say it but you'll probably suck at your second competition.
I'd say enjoy your trip, drink mass amounts of liquid stupid, eat like a goddam elephant, and get ready for your next (distant)show when you come back. You don't want to get burnt out. I'm just sayin is all...

Most people I know that try to do another show that is 4-6 weeks after the first show end up doing one of two things. They either alter their diet for a couple of weeks, upping carbs and actually get alot fuller, which is mostly water weight since they had been dieted down, and shed the water and come in fuller for the second show and win. I know some that peak for the first show, place really well, or win their class, then for the second show they continue to diet strictly and loose lean mass in the process, sure they are more ripped but they are alot flatter than for the first show and usually don't place well at all. If you peak for the first show and place well then screw the second, if you are a little off and don't get the placing you want in the first then alter a few things, carb up a little, then try and peak for the second show.

You spend so much money prepping for a contest why not do 2. Hell it's economical. I'm going to try and do 2 or 3 this summer.

I'm almost 100% sure I"m doing the INBF Mid america muscle classic. Other than that I'm not sure. I'll either to INBF shows or NANBF shows.
