View Full Version : BB.com; We NEED You In The UK.

Hi guys, I just wanted to say that I think it would be a brilliant idea for you to have a warehouse in the UK.
BB.com is cheap. You know that and so do we over here. We want to order from you, and quite a few of us do but many do not, simply due to the horrendous income tax and the shipping bill. I believe you have a huge untapped customer base here of people that want to buy and take supplements but simply cannot pay the ridiculous prices we are currently charged.
Over here, you can charge more than the equivalent in pounds than in the states (meaning profit anyway) but then you get to change it into dollars and make even more).
What's your stance on this? Is it going to be considered?

I would second this. If you did this your prices would wipe off the competitors, seriously, we get charged at least twice the price you guys pay for supplements so if you did come over here both sides would win.

it wouldnt be cheap for us because the mark up would be higher because of the logistical cost
simplemind

For a quick example, the cheapest i can get ON 100% whey here is ?30, if i lvied in the U.S, it can be had for ?19 with the current exhange rate, but then postage bumps that waaaayyy up, if BB.com had a uk warehouse sure they could do it for around ?25, still make profit and blow competitors out of the water!!

I bought a 2lb tub for ?20, and it would have worked out about the same price to buy it from bb.com, postage included.
EDIT: Even a European base would be good.

No, I mean a monthly gossip page from someone working on the "inside" reporting on bodybuilding news, Pro's, shows etc

Big shame to be honest. To get stuff this cheap, you need to make alot of bulk orders :P

It's in our plans. Might be soon, or it might be a few years. We haven't decided yet. But your feedback helps our decision making process!

As long as you kept price low you would DOMINATE the market, i can guarantee it.
There would be no point opening up then selling for the same price as any other UK site though, im sure with the quantity and connections bb.com has price can be kept to a minimum. Could of course operate throughout Europe, atm (lets face it ryan) noone from the UK is going to use your shop.
Peace.

I do right now, using 7-14 day shipping. The cost of shipping is high, but no customs + vat is a plus for this method :P
I agree, as long as the prices are down, bb.com will dominate!

That's good to know.
I think we all figure it's gonna work out more expensive than the US prices tho - you still gotta ship the stuff, then there's warehouse costs and other overheads, which is generally more expensive in the UK than anywhere else anyway but hopefully... you can still keep prices low enough to be competitive, we don't have to suffer with the customs and excise charges and its a win-win all round :)

i think this would be a good idea for the consumers interests.
it would however, shut a lot of privately owned supplement shops down!
i know a lot of guys who own shops up here in scotland, and they already complain at how low the internet prices are and how they now cant compete with them.
at the end of the day, if u want a BB.com factory to open up to save yourself a few quid here and there, then so be it. but id still consider the thoughts of local owned supps shops.

Lets be honest here, if those guys you know could drop their prices and therefore become more popular to the extent were they can open more stores, do you think they would give a toss about other smaller stores not coping?? Nope because in business its dog eat dog

true stuarty, thats a given.
im sure they could drop there prices, im not entirely sure what there paying for there supps. but i guess you know?
all im saying is there trying to make a living. you know? like the paki who owns a corner shop, like the carpet shop along the road, like your local car dealer etc....its british working men, making a living.
do we need the americans to bring there "warehouse" to the uk for you and others to save a few quid and put our local supp shops under?
im just raising a point. and i think this one is worth raising. as its a forum

I wouldnt argue, supporting local businesses is always good, but at the end of the day, if people can get something cheaper elsewhere they will.
I get my supps from a local guy who sells out of his garage and his prices are usually a few quid cheaper than online stores, and he makes a killing, and its only part time for him, but he doesnt have to pay rent etc for premises!
Some stuff he cant do any cheaper because he doesnt buy in bulk, which is where the online stores come in, but he knows that!
All im saying is, it would only mean good things for a big company like BB.com to come to the uk, for the consumer, if the small local companies want to survive, they will, but only by trying to compete, which can be done to an extent!
