Hi Tiffany! Nice weights and cardio.

10 x 10 sounds soooo intriguing ... I must try it in the future. Pure loving torture! :D

Hi Penney,

My legs are still sore from Tuesday. Give the 10x10 a try to see how you like it.

Hi Kaz!
.
.
.
Sunday's workout: Chest/Cardio

Today was a lackluster day in the gym. Everything felt heavy and I felt a little 'off'. I finished the workout and added 20 min of HIIT on the elliptical.

Check your nutrition, Tiff. This could be a sign you need to up some cals, or even that you just need more sleep (don't we all)

Besides, your Inc BPs weren't so bad and if that's your worst then I am doomed....you'd be surprised when you knew my Inc BP.....but you'll laugh so I won't tell you! http://www.angelfire.com/nb/kazuo/img/sm_jip.gif

Hi Hoos! I have been sleeping very well and have been eating ~1900 cals a day. The last few days I've been eating carbs at breakfast and pre/post workout. I will monitor to see if I need a few more cals or give my body time to adjust to the lower carb intake. Thanks!

My incline bench is actually better than my flat bench:confused:. I'm working on improving both. I've seen your numbers and they're impressive!

Hi Eric. Yesterday was the first time I tried declines and I liked them. I will have to go heavier next time.

Happy Monday everyone!

It's a nice 51 degrees here in Atlanta. I walked to lunch and was proud to shave off 2 mins on the 1.1 mile walk:D. I walked by myself so I didn't have to play nice and wait for coworkers. I'm enjoying a steak salad with soup.

Tonight I will work Back/Abs or Legs. My hamstrings are still sore from Tuesday.

My gym has 'Bring a friend' day tomorrow and will be closed Wednesday for Halloween:confused:, so I will do cardio those days.

I cherish my 'me' time Jon and begrudingly go out to lunch with others a few times a month. Today was great as I had the chance to walk and enjoy the beautiful day and my solitude.

Gym closes for Halloween?

Crazy isn't? There is a costume party tonight for the kids so I'm not sure why it's closing for Halloween.

Thanks Brian. I've got chest DOMS today from that 'lackluster' workout. I noticed with the DBs that my left side is significantly weaker than my right. I will continue to use DBs to improve strength. Hopefully, my bench will improve as a result.

I saw the gym closing on one of the monitors yesterday. I can see Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter but Halloween:confused:.

I enjoy cardio a lot and have actually decreased the amount I was doing. I could do it every day.

I got some clarification tonight on the closing. My Gold's is closed PM hours for Halloween. They're turning the gym into some sort of trick-or-treat paradise for kids:confused:. It's good others can take advantage of the early morning but the PM crowd gets screwed.

Monday's workout:Legs/Cardio

My hamstrings are still sore from last Tuesday but not sore enough for me to skip legs. I had to do some different exercises because the gym was packed tonight with folks resting on machines 10 mins between sets. I wanted to get in and get out.

I lowered the weight on all of my exercises.

BB Squats (ATG):
4x10x95

SLDL:
10x105, 12x105, 15x105, 10x105

Hammer Strength V Squat:
10x100, 12x110, 10x110

Kneeling Leg Curl
10x45, 10x40

SS with side leg raises:
2x20

20 min dog walk

Trick-or-treating is huge here Bob. Traffic will be a nightmare as parents leave early to get the little ones ready. I usually leave my house and come back after dark. If I'm home I may give out fruit juices to help cool off the little ones and help with the sugar rush.

I love massages too Jon but I don't go regularly. I am going to get in the habit of going more often so it doesn't hurt--deep tissue--as bad.

How often does your wife go? Does she notice a difference in her running, etc?

Happy Wednesday all!

Today is a rest day for me. The massage was heavenly! I like to get deep tissue massages so I asked the therapist to concentrate on my hamstrings. My back and shoulders turned out to be the worst places on my body so my instructions changed:). Her strokes hurt a little but were needed for the knots.

I hope everyone has a great day and safe Halloween.

I went to the gym this morning and I see a big bowl of skittles and assorted chocolates on the front counter...:confused:x10.

Thursday: BACK/Abs/Cardio

WG Lat Pulldown:
2x12x90, 10x105, 2x8x110

Increased weight from last time on first three sets.

CG Lat Pulldown:
10x85, 10x85, 10x90, 10x95

Oh my goodness, I loved this exercise. My lats were on fire!

1-arm DB Row:
3x6x55, 8x55

Increased 5lbs from last week:D. I will probably change to BB row as I am unsure if I hold anything heavier than a 55.

Declines:
2x20 holding 25lb, 1x40 (failure)

Assisted chin:
2x5@90lbs

I've been wanting to try this machine and had time this morning so I did a few sets.

Cardo:
15 min dog walk
20 min elliptical

I give this workout a huge thumbs up! I felt very strong and energized.

I am off to meetings and will visit journals later today.

Hi Kevin!

I worked legs (10x10 squats, sldl) on a Tuesday. I worked them again that following Monday. I lowered the weight, performed 3-4 work sets and did not take any set to failure.

If and when I get that sore again, I will work the body part 48-72 hours later to help speed recovery. My legs responded well to the 'light' leg workout.

Good morning, Tiffany! Did you say, kick some ass, this Saturday? Haha - my 13yo is away with the youth group from our church and he called at 7:20am to say good morning. So much for my plan to sleep in. This is a kid who normally doesn't get up until 9:30 (on an early day), so I will have to plot my revenge carefully... *evil grin*

Anyway... where are the progress pics we were promised?

Workiing back was my favorite "day" for a long time. Probably because, relatively speaking, my back is pretty strong, so working it made me feel powerful. :o

Love the back:)!

Sunday's workout: Chest/Tris/Shoulders/Cardio

I realized today that I had not worked my arms and shoulders in two weeks. I'm going to change my routine so I don't miss working any body part. I will do chest/tris/shoulders/, legs, back/bis..repeat.

Incline Bench Press:
9x95, 8x95, 2x6x105 (+1rep)

DB Flat Bench Press:
8x40, 5x40, 7x40

I suck at these. I've been at the same weight and rep scheme for the past three weeks. I will try this one more time and if I don't show improvement, I will go back to barbell..

DB Decline Bench Press:
2x10x30, 2x8x35 (+5lbs)

DB Fly
3x10x20 (+2 reps)

CGBP:
6x95, 5x95 (got trapped on the 6th rep), 8x85

I worked on my form with these. I had the elbows in and felt like the tris were isolated once I did that.

Trapped story: I normally don't work to failure when bench pressing. I knew I was giving out on the 5th rep but wanted to push a little more. I got the weight half way up and tried to rerack the weight but couldn't. I was thinking 'oh ****, I'm trapped'. I remember Kaz's video and slid the weight down my chest and onto my thighs. I had to remove the plates to get the bar back on the rack. I was a little pissed that there were 4 guys near me and neither stopped to help me:mad:. I said screw them and this bb, I'm doing one more set.

OH DB Ext (two-handed):
10x30, 2x6x35

I saw my tris very well on these. I think they are showing signs of growth!

SS
DB Upright Rows:
10x25, 2x6x27.5

Arnold Press
2x8x25, 6x25 (failed at 7th rep)

Tricep Pushdown w/Vbar:
10x42.5, 6x50, 20x30

Cardio: Elliptical
5 min pre
12 min post

I was very hungry and could not last longer than 12 mins on the elliptical.

Have a great day everyone!

Tiffany, I got trapped on CGBP once a while ago. For some reason, when the triceps go, they just go. At least, that's how it was for me -- it was like they just weren't there anymore. No one around me seemed to notice me just layong there, with a barbell across my lap. Just as well to be able tohandle these things on your own, I guess. Glad you recovered ok and got back on the horse. ;)

Hi Tiffany! Boy, what gentlemanly friends you had there today  You'd think they'd help.

I don't think that slinging those 40's around sucked at all. When I did DB presses the heaviest I got to was 35's I think ... at 5 reps :o I think 40 lb DB presses are pretty good.

I love back work too! In fact I do back & chest tomorrow. Woohoo!

You're right Elise, I recovered ok and got back on the horse. My tris wouldn't move for me. The old me would have been embarassed, now I'm just determined.

Maybe they thought I was doing a new exercise..lol.

I'm hard on myself Penney and those 40's are giving it to me. I like to get 6 reps and progress to 10. Once I get 10 reps for 3-4 sets, I increase weight. I may have to go down to 35's and move up to 40's. I will figure it out.

Do you like doing chest/back together?

Hey Tiffany, I love your new avatar!! http://www.angelfire.com/nb/kazuo/img/sm_thumbup_cool.gif

I've just asked the same question to Penney, "Is turning your back to us a new trend in the ladies attitudes in BB.com towards dishonorable men? Because I've seen Klingon warriors do that among themselves. (j/k)

Incline Bench Press:
9x95, 8x95, 2x6x105 (+1rep)
Not that I'm taking their side, but my guess is that they'd been awed by your mighty Inc BP(not many men could do over 100 for reps with multiple sets, let alone 135 1RM) and were afraid to get in your way unintentionally!!

I have done that once when we were young, my wife and I used to go to a local gym, one day I thought I helped my wife with her last rep but... what she said is still ringing in my ears, "Darn!! Look what you've just done!! You've STOLEN MY EFFORT!! Don't you ever dare HELP ME again!!"

Morning, Tiffany! Great job on the workout! :) I'm sorry about the CGBP experience. I was stuck under a bar once and had to safe myself also. I guess they want us to scream, "Help Me!!" :p I just rolled the thing down over my boobays and sat up. Not pleasant. :)

Maybe you should switch back and forth between DB and Bar flat benching? I don't do flat benching, because it aggravates my shoulder. It did take me a while to increase on incline DB flat benches. Just keep pushing and one day voila!! :)

I'm so glad I saw his video. I've never been trapped before and I panicked for a few seconds. I rested for a few seconds and lowered the bar onto my chest.

What are you changing your routine to?

I'm thinking about a 3 day split where I'd work Chest/Tris/Shoulders, Legs and Back/Bis. I actually didn't work arms/shoulders for two weeks so I need to include them somewhere.

I will give it some thought before I make a change.

i hear you on this one, tiffany.

i ran 6 miles yesterday. at a 8:50 min per mile clip. Avg H.R. was 164. My Running/HR watch told me that i burned 1100 calories. Now if that is true, wouldn't i have a HUGE calorie deficit yesterday? (and most days that i run?)

i know that you can't totally depend what calorie counters tell you, but this is a timex running watch. i assume that it has to be somewhat close to the real number.

and what xtend are you currently using?

Hi Jon

My treadmill gave me a 200 calorie burn while my MIO watch read ~250 calories. I found a calorie calculator on runner's world website and it says I should burn ~150 calories per mile. If we use that number you are burning 900 calories.

For consistency, I am using the MIO to estimate cals burned. I've plugged in my weight and heart rate so I feel this is closer...who knows.

I am currently alternating between the improved grape and the new apple flavors of Xtend. I love Xtend:)!

Tuesday's workout: Legs

I thought I would not have time to workout tonight but my plans were changed. I happily headed to the gym:).

Both squat racks were taken so I switched up some exercises.

Smith machine Lunges:

Bar wt not included:
1x15, 15x50, 15x60

V Squats
15x90, 8x140

Front Squats--new exercise
3x15xbar

I liked this exercise! The first set felt awkward because I had the bar too low. I adjusted and my form was flawless on the other sets. I will add a little weight next time.

Back Squats (ATG)
2x6x115

My legs were fried by the time I got to this exercise. I'm not disappointed in the effort.

SLDL
10x115, 2x10x125

Seated Calves
10x90, 2x15x70

Standing Calves

No weight added on these:
1x26, 1x22

I was pleased with how I adapted to not having 'my' squat rack available:). I was also happy with my effort.

Have a great night all!

Good question Tedd. I think it helps my running, when I don't have extreme DOMS. I've noticed that I'm much faster than I used to be and I attribute that to my leg workouts.

Thank you Brian! I've been genetically blessed with muscle. At my heaviest, 250lbs, I still had relatively nice quads and calves. I've brought up my upper body so now I'm working on maintaining muscle and shedding fat.

I've learned a lot over the past year about bodybuilding and nutrition. The nutrition is finally in line and I want to see what I can accomplish with my physique.

I'm currently 190 and 25% bf and would like to be 160 and <15%bf. I've been fat all of my life so I don't know what I'd look like at that weight.

I have strength, cardio and flexibility goals as well. Oh and I want to look good naked:D.

Good morning Jon,

I did answer but I will repeat for you:p. I really believe my leg workouts help my running. I am much stronger and faster than before. I attribute this to my weight training because my body weight has not changed but my body fat has gone down.

Most of my runs are 30 minutes or under. I will have to test myself on longer runs to see if I am faster.

What are your experiences?

Thursday AM: 20 min HIIT

Good morning everyone!

I decided last night that I would throw in a few HIIT sessions to shake up my cardio. The HIIT session wasn't a formal 30 secs all out followed by 1:00-1:30 min recovery. I went by feeling so I warmed up for two minutes and went all out for ~30-45 secs. My recovery was long enough to catch my breath and then repeat. Very:cool:!

It's funny how DOMS works. I worked legs Tuesday night and was a little stiff yesterday. I did active recovery cardio yesterday morning and took my dog for a walk last night. Theoretically, there is no way I should be able to do an intense HIIT session less than 48 hrs later. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I had a good leg workout and wouldn't change anything. I know soreness is not my goal and is not an indication of growth.

Enough rambling...I should just be thankful that I can walk normally.

Have a great day all!

Tiffany, I'm amazed at how much running you do;
does all that running, help or hinder, your leg work :p LOL (i hope u smiled)

I don't have a clue why after some workouts we can barely walk and then similar ones, nothing, nada.
On those days I feel stronger, but tight. Maybe it has something to do with the strength fibers.
I bet if we talk about it, our buddy Elise wll come up with an answer for us.;)

Fantastic work on your HIIT, you make all this work sound like a breeze Tiffany. You're awesome attitude really shines, even from a computer monitor!:)

LOL..thanks for the smile Brian.

I'm going to do some research on DOMS, recovery and strength fibers when I have a chance.

In my personal life, my friends and loved ones don't understand my passion for working out or my desire for constant improvement. I've been labeled as obsessed and frankly I don't care:p. It's nice to talk to my e-friends who share my passion.

As far as my attitude, I'm positive [i]most[i/] of the time:D.

HIIT was a breeze...after I was done.

Friday's workout: Cardio/Back/Bis/Abs:

Good morning everyone and happy Friday!!

I decided to try an early morning workout. I wanted to do cardio also so I got up at 3:15:eek: to start my day.

My gym opens at 5:00 and I have to be ready to leave my house for work no later than 6:20; therefore, I had a 30 min workout window.

Here is what I did:

Pre workout cardio: 30 min incline walk (fed)

Assisted Chins:
2x8@ 100lbs
1x5@ 85lbs
1x6@ 85lbs

Triset (Rest=1 minute):
BB Row:
12x65, 10x75, 10x85

Decline sit-ups
1x20, 1x25, 1x25

BB Curl:
9x45, 10x45, 6x50

Superset (Rest=30-45 secs):
1-arm DB Row on bench:
2x6x55

Hammer Curl:
2x8x27.5

WG Lat Pulls:
8x100, 7x100 (failure), 8x90

I finished this workout in less than 30 mins. My energy level was good and the low rest periods had me sweating a lot.

I will consider going in the mornings if I can get in a good workout and get to work on time. If I make this change, I will be able to concentrate on one body part each time. It was so cool having all of the weights to myself too:).

Have a wonderful day!

Sunday's workout: Legs/Abs/Cardio

During the work week I will have 30-35 minutes to get in my workouts, so I decided to work legs today. I need the extra time to recover between sets and to crush my legs. The workout lasted 1:01 including abs and stretching. Cardio was 25 mins on the bike post workout.

This workout was fueled by my cheat meal of buffalo wings, fries and ice cream from last night. I'm finding my cheats are not satisfying. I'll have to come up with something better or not 'cheat' and do a clean refeed instead.

Here's what I did:

Front Squats:
2x15x45, 10x55, 10x65

Back Squats:
6x115, 5x135, 7x135

I was determined to get to 135 today. The last set was tough because my quads were exhausted.

SLDL:
6x135, 8x135, 5x135

Smith Lunges:
Bar wt not included.
10x70, 10x90, 20xbar

Leg Ext:
10x115, 8x130, 8x145PR

Lying Leg Curls:
10x65, 8x80PR, 4x95PR

Leg Lifts SS Wtd Ab Crunch:
2x12, 2x12@20lbs

Planks

I didn't work calves today. I will work them later in the week, if I remember:p.

Did you take that drive yesterday?
No, I was not able to take my planned drive. The carpet cleaners were supposed to be here between 10-12. At 12:00, I called the owner and asked what was going on. To make a long story short, he came out and cleaned the carpet. By the time he was finished, it was too late to drive out where I wanted to go. At least I have clean carpet:).

Awesome job on the PBs, Tiffany!! Woohoo! It takes me about an hour to do legs also -- they're always my longest workout.

LOL @ buffalo wings, fries and ice cream. I think that combo would get anyone's tummy. :p (By the way, I'm not being snooty about the combo -- I love all three. :D )

Why don't you try something like a big pasta meal or something for cheat meal? Maybe something less grease/dairy laden will be more satisfying to you. That's of course if you like pasta. I love pasta with either shrimp, olive oil & tomatoes or pasta with shrimp (and/or scallops) and a marinara sauce. Yum. Now I'm wanting a cheat meal.

I didn't think you were being snooty:). It's funny, I saw buffalo wings on a commercial last week and decided that would be part of my cheat meal. The wings and ice cream were good but the fries were terrible. I think I will forgo my cheat this week and have it Thanksgiving Day.

Good morning all--

This morning I did some cardio followed by a good chest workout.

Preworkout: 14 min incline walk

I know preworkout cardio is not optimal; however, I believe as long as I get cardio in I will meet my goals. I wanted to do more than 14 mins but time was limited.

I switched things up a bit by doing Incline BB press last. I wanted to see if I could conquer the 40's with good form and did them first.

DB Flat BP
2x12x25, 2x8x40 (+1rep ea. set)

DB Flat Fly
2x6x22.5, 8x22.5 (+2.5lbs)

DB Declines
10x35, 8x35, 10x35 (+2reps)

Inc BP
4x105, 2x105 (too heavy), 6x95

Cable Crossover
10x17.5, 6x22.5, 15x12.5

I was able to complete the workout in about 29 minutes.

Have a great day all!

I'd give you a little slack and let you sleep in until 3:30:). When I first started working out, I met my trainer 6:00AM every Saturday.

I'm working on holding onto as much muscle as possible so heavy weights are a must. I want to give the muscle a reason to stay around:p.

Good morning Tiff! Nice workout, as usual!

I have a question for you - how much cardio do you do weekly, and do you notice yourself getting softer if you do a certain amount? Just curious ... :)

I am doing ~4 hrs of cardio a week. That time includeds my dog walks (20-30 min @5 days) along with PWO cardio (25-35 min @3-4 days). With the dog walks, I barely get my heart rate about 100 beats.

I've recently thrown in some HIIT to keep my body guessing.

I have not noticed myself getting softer. My measurements are going down and I've noticed more definition. I don't attribute that to cardio because I was doing similar cardio and eating a not so clean diet.

Are you experiencing softness from cardio?

Did the switch yield the desired results with the 40's?

btw - nice workout!
Hi Tedd:).

Yes, I was able to get 8 reps on both sets. Last week I struggled a bit.

That's awesome cardio time, Tiffany.

I do feel somewhat softer, but it could be from other sources beside cardio. I do only 3 hours weekly. I'm hoping it's just the fat cells flattening out! ;)

I woke up sore from my chest workout so I wasn't a happy camper when the clock went off at 4:15. I know it will take a while for my body to adjust and trust me it will..no other choice..I own it.

I had a small meal and headed for the gym at 4:50.

Here is what did:

Assisted Chins
10@100, 8@100, 6@85, 5@85, 6@90

I am getting better at these. My form is great and I am using mind-muscle connection on ea rep.

Bentover BB Rows
12x85, 2x8x95 (+10lbs)

My form gave on the last rep of the third set because my forearms were on fire. I will stay at 95lbs and concentrate on perfect form.

1-arm DB Row SS with Decline crunch
2x8x50
2x25 holding 25 lb plate

I'm thinking of retiring the 1-arm DB Row because I've added BB Rows to the routine.

WG Lat Pulldown
2x10x100 (+2reps), 5.5x105 (failed on the 6th rep).

I was absolutely pumped while doing this exercise. I did this exercise last and was able to add two reps and 5 lbs from last time.

I use self-talk to power me through the toughest part.

Hypers
2x20, 1x12

Workout Duration: 35 lovely, sweaty minutes. I think workout out early is growing on me...after I get out of bed:).

I'm such a dork. I was trying to figure out your one arm dumbbell rows using a plate. :p :D I haven't done a decline crunch in forever and a day. I like both bent over rows and one arm dbs and just alternate between the two. They're both great exercises!

LOL! I moved the sets to differentiate.

I thought having two rowing movements back to back was overkill so that's why I thought about dumping 1-arm for now. I can take your suggestion and alternate..thanks!

Before work is the only time I have, and let me tell you, it gets really hard. There are several days when you just can't get to bed early enough, especially with little kids. Then when that alarm goes off at 5:00 you're like, "Shut Up, Alarm!"

Hi Tiffany,
I think quick intense workouts are the best.
Looks like you've got a good formula down.
Working out in the morning is also best for fat burning.

Hi Eric

I'm going to keep this schedule as long as it works for me. I'm very excited about it.

Up until a few weeks ago, and for the last 3 years I've arisen at 4:30 a.m. to do my workouts. I really like that time of morning. And yes...you do get tired at 9:00 p.m., but so what? That time of the morning is nice and quiet, and a chance to get your thoughts together while you're still fresh. The only time it gets difficult (for me) is around Holidays when you want to be out with friends late... Good luck with it!

I didn't feel like working legs so I worked shoulders and arms. I worked out at home and was limited with the weight.

Here is what I did:
Shoulders/Arms/Cardio

Pre 20 min incline walk
Post 25 min incline walk

DB Shoulder Press:
2x12x25, 13x25

Front Raises:
15x12, 2x20x12

Lateral Raises:
2x10x12, 12x12

DB Upright Rows:
10x25, 2x12x25

OH Extensions:
12x25, 15x25, 10x25

DB Skullcrushers:
12x12 I only did one set of these. My right elbow started to hurt a little.

Tricep kickbacks:
15x12, 15x12

Alternating DB Curls:
10x25, 12x25

Hammer Curls:
12x25, 15x25

Workout duration: 30:23;).

I leave for home, Mississippi, on Thursday morning. I am so homesick and maybe that's contributing to my mood. I can't wait to see my Mom who will be turning 75 on the 28th:). I will also see my Dad/siblings and extended family so it will be nice.

I won't be able to workout until I return next week. There are 5 gyms near my hometown so I called and asked about guest passes and hours. Surprisingly, 4 will be closed Thurs-Sun.. I even called the one 24 hr gym and the manager laughed when I inquired about Friday. I just find this to be strange.

I won't sweat it and will get in my workouts before I leave and let Fri/Sat be cardio only days. I will enjoy family/food on Thanksgiving and not be concerned with macros. One day will not make or break me...gosh I'm rambling.

Nice reps on the front raises, Tif. Those get old after about rep 8 don't they :)
Enjoy the trip home. There is no better excuse for a serious cheat weekend. Don't sweat the lack of a gym. Your body will appreciate the rest. You can always do some push ups or sit ups if you feel guilty. Safe travels.

(note to others... always watch Planes, Trains, and Automobiles during Thanksgiving weekend.!)

have fun!
I love that movie Jon. What's your favorite scene?

Hi Tiffany!!
Nicely done, even at home!! All in just 30 mins, that's an incredible concentration!!

I hope spending the holiday with your family would give your mind and body a quality break.

Even if you miss your workout, there are a few exercises you could do anywhere.
*Not that I'm saying you should...LOL, just in case you'd feel the frustration.

Here are some effective Body Weight Push Pull variations:

You also have bench-dip option which you could do inside of the house.

Have wonderful holidays!! [img]
Thanks a lot for the link Kaz. I will review and take these with me.

Enjoy your trip Tiffany - always nice to have some time with family.
Thanks Dave. It's all about family for me.

It's good that you spend all the time you can with your mother, Tiff :) It's funny how their most irritating habits lessen in time ;)

This is so true Penney. I came around in my mid twenties and realized everything my Mom did [i]was for my good.

Thank you Brian. It is true the front raises get boring after a few reps.

I get a little antsy after two days so I will be doing pushups/situps/stretching/cardio.

I took this morning off because I went to bed too late. I was up decorating for Christmas and lost track of time. I will walk tonight and workout tomorrow.

I was determined to find a gym that was going to be open while I'm visiting family. I found a Y that will be open Friday and Saturday:D. I didn't ask about the equipment but I can work with what they have.

The gym is 20 miles away but who cares...it's a gym and it's open. I hope I don't overdo it because it's going to cost me $10 a day + gas and I like getting my money's worth:).

Good morning all and Happy Wednesday:D!

I got back on track with my workouts this morning. I had a good time in the gym this morning despite not being prepared. I woke up later than normal so I only had peanut butter preworkout. I also left my Xtend in the refrigerator. I thought about it half way to the gym but was pressed for time. I found an empty water bottle in my gym bag and used it. I obsessed for a while about how dirty/germy my own bottle was. Obsessing over germs while squatting is a recipe for disaster so I shook off the mind games and had a good workout.

Here is what I did:

Back Squats:
15x45, 10x95, 10x115, 6x135, 4x145 (+10lbs)

The last set was parallel.

SLDL:
2x8x135, 7x135

I really wanted the last rep on set 3 but my grip gave out. I increased reps on all three sets.

Front Squats:
2x8x75, 6x95 (+30lbs)

DB Walking Lunges:
10 steps each leg holding 25's
10 steps each leg holding 30's

Workout Duration: 32:28:D.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday! I enjoyed my time with family.

I was able to get in a workout on Friday with my 21 year old nephew who was home from college. He asked me to help him lose 8-10 lbs about six weeks ago. I outlined a basic diet and workout routine for him. He's a former athlete so he knows his way around a weight room. I'm happy that I was able to use what I've learned to help him. He and I had a great workout and were able to bond over weights.

We worked Chest/Back/Tris/Abs.

BB Flat Press
15x45, 10x95, 6x115

It was nice having a spotter on the 115. I felt very confident and could have pushed more.

DB Inc Press
10x25, 10x30, 6x35

DB OH Ext
3x10x30

Pec Deck
2x10x75, 8x80

Assisted Chins
6@80lbs, 2x6@70lbs

This was a different brand from the one my Gold's has. Last time I struggled with 85lbs.

SS Roman Chair leg raises
3x15

WG Lat Pulls
2x10x90, 6x105

1-arm DB Rows
2x6x50

I felt tired on these so I didn't do attempt a 3rd set.

Cable Rows
2x8x75, 6x90

Rope pushdowns
3x8x50

SS w/Decline situps
1x25, 1x20

The workout took about 50 minutes including 10 min warm up walk.

Have a great evening!

Hi Ric!

I have become the fitness expert in the family. My family has watched as I've slowly lost and kept off 60+lbs so they trust what I've done. Having my nephew ask for my help was truly touching. He's 6'3" and now weighs 210lbs after losing 12 lbs of fat.

For that last 3-4 days I've been having problems with my appetite. Food is just not interesting to me and I love to eat. I enjoyed Thankgiving and indulged in a lot treats but have had little interest since then. I normally eat every 3-4 hours but lately I'm eating only when hungry which leads me with a huge calorie deficit. I'm forcing myself to eat Pre/Post workout too.

I've been getting enough rest, vitamins, water, fish oil, etc. I don't need a lot of variety in my diet and maybe my body needs a change. Has anyone else had this problem? Am I just in an eating funk?

Thus far, my biggest problem is that my right shoulder fatigues and weakens so quickly. Once that happens than I lose control of the DB. I think I would risk further injury if I tried to up the wieghts at this point in time.

Once I get the deltoids stabilized (plus get accustomed to the exercise), I think I'll be able to go much heavier.

Until then, a little of something is better than a lot of nothing.

Happy Wednesday all!

Work and life have been very busy this week and I haven't been to the gym. I am a little cranky and need my gym fix:D. Tonight is a little iffy but I may do a few excercises at home. I'm back on schedule tomorrow morning.

I went to the grocery store last night and sort of walked the exterior to see what would catch my eye. I'm not much of a red meat eater but ended up getting eye round steak. I also stocked up on turkey breast (sliced from the deli), eggs, fuji apples, navel oranges and bananas.

Have a wonderful day!
