hey everyone
i'd like to ask, what do you all wear to the gym??? i never know if what i wear is appropriate. first of all, our cardio room is not airconditioned. so i usually wear shorts and a sports bra. everything is covered, but i still get demeaning looks from older women. im dripping with sweat wearing just that. but yet, there are a few women who are really big who wear tiny clothes and no one seems to stare at them. like its acceptable to have flab, but not to have abs, you know what i mean??????maybe its just my gym (ymca) which is more chat than workout.

also, do any of you really get dressed up go? i mean, like matching clothes and all that. i do cardio first thing and once wore neon green with baby blue...

I know what you mean...... I only ever strip off to just my little top inside the aerobics room because the women in there know me well. But even then, I occasionally get comments that are disguised as a joke, but can actually be a little bit catty. I feel like saying "hey if you trained and dieted as hard as me, you could look like this too" but then that would be bitchy! I go to a woman's gym and most women have kids etc....

I like to wear outfits that match.... colour wise. I am a little obsessive about stuff like that! I usually wear knee length tights with a singlet top...

I have various shorts + tank tops + v-neck shirts I've picked up randomly. Some from places like Target, others from Abercrombie.

I also like to be matching.

I have to be careful about what I wear, as I also work at gym that I work out at. So I can't wear anything too scandalous. We have a damn good air conditioning system, so it's okay. I usually also wear a baseball cap pulled down so I'm incognito, haha. Most people know it's me anyway, but once the other members come up and start talking to me, it never stops! I'd never get any working out done! When I have my baseball cap on, they know I'm concentrating on getting my workout done... :P

Black shorts, white tank top, and a black, gray, or navy blue sports bra. Blue bandanna. I have about a million black shorts and white tank tops and blue bandannas. I bet people at the gym think I never wash my clothes. Hehe. Oh well, I'm there to work, not to look good. Sometimes, if I get really hot, I'll take off the tank top. If your cardio room's not air conditioned, I say go for it. Who cares what they think?

Depends on weather. When it gets cool I change to pants and heaver t-shirts over sports bra. Summer - shorts and sports bra w/tank top over. If I sweat too much during cardio, I'll take tank off. I'm pretty muscular for a woman, so people are always staring and watching to see how much weight I lift.

I try not to take offense because I think some people just like to admire a person's hard work. Don't worry too much about what others think, you'll never be able to please everyone so why try so hard to do so? As long as you are comfortable and can work out without worrying about something "popping out" ... LOL
