I'm sure a ton of people have brought this up before, but I'm curious as to the validity of the BFL or Muscletech contests.

I know 99% of those BFL 12 week transformations are all fat loss, and the Muscletech ones are longer duration fat loss, but I'm curious as to how many of you out there have actually taken a stab at winning one or both of these contests. It seems like on a dedicated bodybuilding forum like this many of you would at one point given it a shot.

I mean, if I'm 20% bf and can lean it out to 7-9% bf in 12 weeks (which is not unreasonable), and have a shot at 100 grand or 25 grand, why not? As long as I have a muscle base and don't look too skinny when I dip below 10% BF......right?

What do you guys think of the BFL contest........is it BS?...........rigged? Impossible to win?
I'm not planning on becoming a freaky huge juiced up bodybuilder, so contests like this for amateurs are about the only thing I can enter.

I competed once in the BFL contest. I know that others here have also done so. Although I did not win anything to speak of (a special t-shirt and a certificate), they sent me mail and so forth to keep me up to date and promote their products (of course). I found it motivational and a positive experience. It is serious business to them, since it provides a continuing stream of success stories that they can use in their advertising. It is difficult to win, since you are one of thousands of contestants. Still, one nice thing (as you probably know) is that they split people into age and gender categories, which makes the competition as fair as possible.

Can't be bad. Anything to keep you motivated can't be bad.
