I hope this is the right forum!

I have just started the body for life program.
I am 26 yrs old, 5'8" and today I am 140lbs.

I have always been very lean without having to workout or watch what I eat. I practically lived on McDonalds for the last 4 years eating there on average once per day. That was until I quit smoking. I usually maintained a wieght of around 125lbs. I do realize that is underwieght for my hieght and frame but that is what I was without even trying.

I quit smoking last year and started again after 8 months and gaining almost 15 lbs. Instead of working out I returned to the cigarettes. I decided I couldn't quit smoking again until I was ready to get my butt to the gym. I did that on Jan 14th of this year, just over a month ago. I worked out and sort of watched what I ate, being a little more careful this time. Then I started the body for life program 2 weeks ago. I started eating 5 times a day smalls and a couple of protien shakes in place of meals and within 2 weeks I have gained 5 pounds. I know that I couldn't have gained 5 pounds of muscle in just 2 weeks.

What could I be doing wrong?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Stop watching the scale! It doesnt mean anything. If you weigh yourself first thing in the morning and then again at night you could notice a 5 pound difference in one day. 5 pounds is absolutely nothing. Especially for women. If you are nearing your period it could be water. Let the mirror and your pants decide your progress. What you are doing is fantastic, just give it time.

I so agree, don't look at the scale. I have my bodyfat tested every 6 weeks by a trainer and that is how often I weigh myself.

I remember these words of wisdom from a friend. "I don't care if I weigh 200 lbs as long as I am a size 6!"

Congrats on not smoking and keep up the good work.
