View Full Version : Injured Shoulder doing Deads?

Hello...Any help or advice would be appreciated. 2 weeks ago, I was working back, and on my last heavy set of dead lifts, I felt a twinge in my shoulder. Nothing big, but I did stop.

Fast forward to now...My shoulder REALLY hurts, and every time I lean my head back, I get a killer pain that runs from the left side of the back of my neck to the back side of my shoulder. It doesn't keep me from doing lifts that the shoulder is involved in; heck, it really only hurts when it is strerched by doing stiff legged dead lifts or bent over barbell rows. All I can say is that I am tired of the pain, and wish it would go away.

Question: Does anyone know what this is? What can I do about it?

I would appreciate the help.....

See a Doctor. Internet forums are not the best place to ask for medical advice.

Thanks...Was actually hoping to avoid that particular route.

I was doing some really heavy shrugs one day on the hammer strength machine and failed to keep my head in a neutral position. OUCH to put it mildly. Everytime I turned my head to the right it would hurt just to the right of my spine. Well, the pain went away but now there feels like there is some rigid tissue behind my right shoulder blade in the approximate area where the pain formerly was. No lifts are hindered but I think it is best to see a doctor even if five minutes cost you a week's pay.

Ok...I guess I am looking for people who have had similar discomfort...I wonder if it might be a pinched nerve? (BTW, I do not go to the Doc unless I think I am dying. Not a money thing, it's an "I hate doctors" thing.)
