so I have forced myself to give up caffeine for a while because I don't even remember what a caffeine buzz is like anymore. I drink so much coffee during the day, that it's not possible for me to get a buzz, and I can't imagine that's good for me. I have done pretty well at giving it up, but I miss my delicious coffee, I just haven't found a decaf that compares yet. Any suggestions?

I just use a big mug lasts me from when I leave for work about 7am till about lunch at 1130. Switch to diet coke and water after that.

Addicts call this "chasing the dragon". After the first couple of times, a drug never feels that good again. But you use more and more to chase the "high". While caffeine is a stimulant, you shouldn't be using enough of it to get wired. If you are dosing properly, it should be "working in the background". You shouldn't "feel" it (euphoria, buzz, high whatever you want to call it) but it'll be working. Still, your tolerance will increase and you'll need to use more and more to get desired effects, but don't go chasing the "buzz", it's a newbies hook.

hockey, I'm not sure if I should be more concerned with your extensive knowledge on the subject or that my extensive knowledge on the subject completely understands you.

Decaf just has lower caffeine. It should have around half, though some have more. So just drink less regular good tasting, less poisoned, real coffee.

I have tried a bunch and if you like a dark roast, its the best imo.

so after rereading my op, i realize it sounds like I'm addicted to the caffeine, but that's not the case. I've had no problem giving up the caffeine, no headaches, no issues whatsoever. I just don't think the amount that I was consuming could be good for me, so I'm looking to find a tasty decaf (or lower caffeine as the case may be). I just want something good to drink during the day.

Spoken like a true crack head in denial :D seriously though how much are you drinking per day? A good majority of us drink coffee daily. It's not that serious.

Groce.

And lol at getting a buzz from caffeine. Spoken like a man who's never had a drink or a cigarette.

probably in the neighborhood of 2-3 liters a day.... it's free at work and I like to have something on my toolbox to sip on during the day. I've cut that back a little bit, but i'm sure that I'm still consuming way too much. I still manage to get in at least 3 liters of water during the work day too, plus whatever I have at home

Your reason for switching to decaf is ****ing retarded. Just keep drinking your normal coffee... there are health benefits outside of "getting a buzz". Unless you have a heart condition or it is causing anxiety attacks or keeping you awake at night... drinking decaf coffee is like drinking a virgin mixed drink or having sex with a condom.

Intelligentsia puts out a good decaf, it's a little smoky though. Verve's Street decaf is decent as well. I have heard good things about Sweet Maria's but haven't tried it. I've also heard Paradise Roasters has a decent decaf but the one batch I got of regular I wasn't big on as they over-roasted the bejesus out of it.
