guys I started shaving my entire body Saturday to get it used to it before the show. But i broke into a bad rash on my legs (hamstring area). its pretty bad and hurts like hell. I shaved using my normal shave cream and razor.
Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening next time? Its still really irritated now but I'll try shaving it again in 2-3 days when it gets better...
Any help would be really appreciated, I dont want this irritation showing on show day!

I've only had this problem when I didn't buzz my legs before. Try to get the hair as short as possible first, and make sure your razor is sharp.

funny enough i considered doing that and went against it thinking it would further irritate the skin. thanks for the heads up brah

Try using hair removal cream instead

If your skin gets irritated again, you might try getting a women's razor. The really fancy ones are designed especially for shaving legs, arms, pits, etc.

Never worked for me. Shaving is the only way to go.

No need to get a girly razor. Any of them with 5 blades will do fine. I went with the gillette fusion proglide and also the sensitive skin shaving gel. I also broke out my first time, but each time after not nearly as bad, almost not at all now (except near my package slightly). Just make sure you go SLOW (especially on areas you break out) and only shave where there is shaving gel. I also use an exfoliating body wash with a scrub pad daily.

I too used to have this same issue until I started shaving with the grain of the hair versus against the grain. With a new blade you won't notice any differrence in the quality of the shave (i.e. the removal of the hair), but it goes along way in preventing razor burn. Another trick is after you shave in this manner, definitely use a post shaving cream that works to prevent irritation. Since I have started doing it this way, I no longer have experinced any razor burn.

Thanks lads. I;m on recharge so I will hit you both back up when i'm off it.
I bought a product called bikini zone lol as per my gf's advice and it seems to be reducing redness and bumps, so hopefully that was a one time thing and next time I shave it will be much better.

one thing that also helps is to rinse with cold water after, and then moisturize well...

Personally, I use a product from Pure Romance called Coochy. It's a rash free shave cream and I've never had issues with shave bumps or irritation anywhere on my body. Easiest shave ever! This year I shaved on Tuesday (full body) and then on thursday night I did another full body shave (because you inevitably miss spots the first time around). This lasts me through the show on Saturday.
If you google Pure Romance by Rebecca, I believe it's the first link that comes up (Rebecca Beres). My wife is a consultant. Not trying to be pushy, but just sharing what works for me.
Peace.
