This is the machine I was talking about in another thread. I found this in a barn when I went to look at some local equipment for sale. This is my first experience with equipment made in that era and I have to say that it's quite inventive. Unfortunately, the hack squat part of it is pretty much useless in my opinion. The location for the hand grip is uncomfortable and being that you have to start from the bottom, it's hard to use any decent weight. The standing calf raise is awesome though. It has a really nice feel to it and I like the way the handles are tucked away after your done. I really don't use it much, but I keep it in my gym because it just looks cool and has a nice retro look to it.

Instead of taking pics of it, I made a small video.

That is proper golden era equipment. I've never liked hacksquat machines but the leverage calf portion makes it very appealing. As always with old stuff like that- it'll never break! Thans for sharing.

Is that a company-produced piece, or is it made to an individual's specs?

Not sure what he got for it but the bidding started at around $75 and said something about need gone asap moving. Going by memory though. :)

Dang, there's a lot more than $75 just in the metal on this thing! I would probably sell mine if it weren't for that standing calf raise. I already have a sitting calf raise, but for some reason, this machine just has a better feel to it. LOL

The old York power racks are often confused with homemade.

Looks good though, angle iron is underutilized, everyone's "gotta have tube steel."

I'm doing a search right now for old weight training equipment....not finding much so far. :/

I love angle iron too. I don't use it much, but I've built a dumbbell rack out of some and it turned out nice.

Not really. I'm just looking for machines like it or other machines like leg presses and things like that.

I know exactly what you mean. Until my wife lets me put up that 40x60 building, I'm stuck with a filled up gym. :(
