Hi all,

Quick question... I'm looking to do a relatively short cut of 2 weeks to lose about 2kgs (4.4lbs). I am now 62kgs (136lb) at 5 foot 4. My maintenance cals are about 1900. I was intending to eat lean meat, fish, veggies and nuts (maybe oats for breakfast) with my usual protein shake after training.

Let's say I cut my calorie intake to 1000 cals but kept my usual protein intake (around 100g), didn't do any cardio but continued to do the strength training (calisthenics only), am I right in thinking I would avoid catabolisis? But that I probably wouldn't get as good strength gains throughout this period? Would I be better off cutting down my training to 2 or 3 times a week (instead of 5)?

Just interested to hear what you think.

Thanks :)

Pushing the envelope by dropping cals by almost 900. Your body doesnt know or care what your goals are but to survive, so if it has to use muscle for energy because it doesnt have enough cals to function it will do so.
Ideas
-reduce about 400 cals instead
-increase cardio
-cut some fat out and replace w/ protein (if your at 100g protein, get about 140g protein)
-whats your carb intake total? carb cycle?
-Thermogenics
-I been supplementing HMB 500 mg, every 2 hours only on a cut to help prevent a catabolic state. One of the few supplements that is heavily supported by science and not BS propaganda.
here http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/beast7.htm.., page 3 he says basically the same thing, take every few hours because HMB has an extremely short life in the body

Follow a PSMF/RFL (Lyle McDonald) diet plan. 1.5g/lb of Protein, fish oil capsules and veggies (no nuts, no starchy carbs or other fat sources).

It's a bit more complicated than that one sentence, but its the essence of it.
