Hi,

I have a question. I'm a 40 year old female & a personal trainer (male) at my gym told me recently I should start taking ZMA. He said it would help with sleeping & with muscle recovery. When I researched the ZMA online, I noticed the information I read said ZMA raises testosterone levels. When I went to the GNC to purchase the ZMA, the manager said I probably shouldn't take ZMA because it increases testosterone levels. Do any of you have an opinion on whether women should take ZMA or not? Does it increase testosterone levels significantly?

Thanks!

And I have been for about a year now. I don't take it every single night...I will use it for 2 or 3 weeks and then not take it again for a couple of weeks. But I can honestly say that I have not had any virilization effects at all. And it does seem to help me with my sleep.

I hope this helps.

You are most welcome! I don't have the depth of knowledge that some of the ladies here have, but I will be more than happy to offer up what I do know whenever you want!

I just started using this supplement too. I don't really use supplements but this one seemed to be a good one to try. I think I had been overtraining before by doing too much cardio and weights. I have a really tough time getting to sleep and then getting enough.
I tried ZMA and I've been falling asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow! This might just be a psychological factor, but I do notice that my sleep seems a little more deep. This combined with cutting back a little bit on exercise has helped me getting out of the 'overtrained' state so I can start putting on some more muscle.
