Guys - I want to get a standing, two-sided preacher curl bench and had my heart set on this Atlantis model:

BUT... the shipping alone from Canada is $650 which puts it WAY out of my price range. So I am considering these three models:

(1) Life Fitness.. Anyone own this brand or have an opinion? The weird thing about the description is it says "Accommodates users of all sizes with no adjustments" but I'm not sure how it could be comfortable for all different heights of people without a vertical adjustment?? Looks like a beast at 210 lbs though..

(2) Hoist.. Anyone own this brand or have an opinion? 145 lbs but looks like it doesn't adjust as high as the other models..

(3) Star Trac.. (NEVER heard of this brand). 177 lbs

Others??

don't have any experience with any of these pieces but whatever I bought I would want it adjustable for sure. Startrac makes some nice pieces, the hoist looks pretty cool- maybe a bit futuristic for my taste-but it does look like it adjusts. I would probably pass on the lifefitness model only because of the lack of adjustments on it. But that's just me. Any reason you want a standing piece? I know sorinex makes a fully adjustable seated one- you can adjust the pad angles on it too.

I would be worried about the lack of adjustments on the Life Fitness and the pad on the Hoist looks narrow to me for some reason. If I was choosing from those 3 I would probably go with Star Trac (Formerly Flex Fitness I believe).

Of course I have the Body Master one and I will probably but that one again.

Gtude - Yes, I agree on the adjustable comment. Not sure why Life Fitness would even make a model that doesn't adjust?

Regarding seated vs. standing, I was originally looking at the Legend seated preacher curl bench, but the two things that led me to look at standing units are:

(1) I like that when you are done with the exercise, you don't have to get the bar back into an exact spot on a standing model (while the weight is on your lower back) -- since the standing units have a wide front-to-back area to set the bar down, and

(2) I am hesitant to buy a seated one on-line without being able to sit on the bench and try it first for fit/comfort. I know that same could be said about a standing unit but it doesn't seem like as big of a deal...
